Also, did you use Rufus to format the USB stick as an UEFI boot media for Windows?  icon_idea.gif
*
i didn't use rufus, straight use media creation tool direct to usb pendrive.

Just got this brand new Apacer Panther AS350 120gb.

Bios only detect 1 gb and inside windows disk management also same. Tested on 2 computers same result.

The SSD model number detect as SM2258AB-M0-0001M000 is the firmware brick.

There's a red light inside the SSD can be seen through the screw hole, Is this normal ?

maybe it's not a good sign. you should do a one-to-one exchange at the shop.

ok you were referring to boot sequence. i'm not familiar with your laptop but i think you should check system information instead to see if the ssd is detected properly. (i think the laptop detected it actually)

in your case it's very likely that the original os installation is interfering. try take out the hdd first, install new os in ssd, then check this page again.

after you're sure that the ssd is working, back up your data in the hdd, then clean it up using diskpart > clean. the best way to do this is to use a usb adapter, instead of plugging in the hdd directly into laptop to prevent it from interfering again.

it's too bad new crucial ssds are hard to get here.
Crucial entered the Malaysian market too late
Same for their RAMs, hence why Crucial are rarely seen in here and most layman have never even heard of Crucial/Micron

I used to be Crucial's reseller so I know

oh then it's really too bad. yes stuff from crucial/micron are ok actually

i always thought it was because previous incidents (e.g. m4, m500) that caused it to become less popular here. the stories were always the same: unless the brand has very strong track records, and are able to rectify issues in time, all brands suffer from bad news, resulting in general distrusts from public. (imo crucial, sandisk, kingston, and plextor took heavy blows after respective incidents at different points of time in the past) all common brands were affected in one way or another. only a few can survive from such serious hits. (intel, samsung)

You left out OCZ. That brand was a steaming pile of crap compared to Crucial but it still got a good following on this forum.

ah yes ocz thanks smile.gif once a famous brand among us. however even after toshiba's takeover, and recent improvements in various areas, the damage was so bad that until today people are still staying away from it. ocz has done too many things wrong imo. if the management back then were more ethical, things might be different now.

Hi guys,

I'm currently using Samsung 850 EVO M.2 256GB SSD. I'm thinking of upgrading to a larger M.2 SSD size. However, my desktop only has one M.2 slot. How do I clone it ya?

Thanks in advance.

there are several ways:
1. create a system image with windows' built-in backup tool, and install the image into new ssd (with bootable os installation usb stick);
2. create an image with third party cloning tools and install the image into new ssd (with bootable usb created with the same cloning tools)
3. use the new ssd with m.2-sata-compatible external enclosure / m.2-sata-to-pcie adapters then make a clone.

you should. performance wise, it's one of the top consumer sata ssds. putting its additional boosts in tbw and warranty period into accounts makes it an even better choice.

Yeap, the price difference is also minimal so might as well go for the new model. Thanks! nod.gif

What motherboard are you using right now?

Also if you want to upgrade, I would also suggest you to upgrade directly to NVMe but only if your system supports it
Although changing from AHCI to NVMe will require you to do a clean installation

The same thing goes with automative industry. Theres a reason why Honda & Toyota is still winning sales in Malaysia whereas in the US & UK, Hyundai & Kia sales is following very closely

In Malaysia, which offer better RMA/Warranty?
Kingston VS Sandisk. Anyone have experience dealing with them?

I just bought the Sandisk SSD Plus 120GB, after compare with Kingston A400 for my spare laptop. lol laugh.gif

yes. stereotypes can be good or bad. however there are always chances for these manufacturers to fix stuff timely. just hope they can do that properly.
