If you eat more than you burn, you will never reduce weight.
You can be fit and fat at the same time~

this can really fold until so small
mind to share how much does it costs?
*
The bike shown was dismantled foldies.

Rule of thumb, smaller wheel = smaller fold. Cos you can't really fold your wheel in half or quarters~ at least nobody selling...

I wear singlet, shorts and slipper.
Helmet too.
If weather permitting, I will wear the same around the world.
My tummy so big, spandex x hamsem.

For me the must have for under 5km.
1) helmet
2) front headlight (100 lumen is enough, more is for ego... Mine is 600 lumen aka big ego)
3) rear blinkers.

10k plus without modding. 20” correct

I always wonder if you ever consider if you would be attracting robbers riding 10k+ bike in poorer foreign countries.
Or you hire bodyguard to escort the full journey..

saw in Lazada, a lot of the foldies are selling at rm500, is that a good choice for beginner?
*
Just get one and trash the hell out of it. Then you tell us if that's a good choice for beginner.
500 is a bargain to tryout a hobby. If you like it, carry on. If you don't, send it to landfill.

Never bother about it. I used to ride alone. Done broga pondan without teammate and support. No problems. Never mention the price if people dont ask.

My principle is simple, u only live once so never regrets and buy what you can afford. You dont have to cycle in poor foreign countries to get rob. I lost my 2k Dahon Speed P8 in KL. You just move on..shit happen
*
Stolen won't cause bodily harm.
Robbery may cause your life. I agree we only live once, but risking murdered over a bike isn't something to look forward to....

DIY frame usually cost over 10k if you include buying all the tooling.
Dont put words in my mouth. I never said I want to build my own frame. It's no challenge to me. Serious. It's only pipe welding…
Well, I ride solo on federal highway which everyone said it's life threatening... And other route in wee hours. Which are also life threatening according to most people.
Positive thinking is good but not to the extend of naive. Stay safe, live to your full life expectancy.

Bicycle has been around for a century. It's nothing new. Anyone can build a bicycle if they want.
That is my point of view. If you don't agree with it, it's your point of view. Don't have get too exited over it.
I am concern about bicycle robbery in bright daylight at GCE and KESAS periodically. Apparently, I was told they rob the 5 figure bicycle ~ we shouldn't be in denial if this is happening.
So far I have not read about these robbers were apprehended.

Your saddle should be horizontal. I.e. the nose not pointing up or down.
I reckon your seat post height is the main culprit. Try some YouTube on bicycle fitting. They can tell a much better story than I could ever do.
10~20km not a long distance, should not cause discomfort to your precioud jewels.

Once you got yourself fitted, ride 3000km on it within 6 months, your rear end and your family jewels are bullet proof by then, any saddle make no difference, No need padded butt.

All bicycle consume effort to push forward.
If you don't intend to expend effort to move forward; Get a kapchai.

It's really weird when I hear ppl expecting Foldies to perform better top rank MTN and RB at fraction of the price BUT they never say MTB and RB can fold smaller than Foldies…

All saddles are uncomfortable. No matter how you train your butt or how much you spend~ it's the nature of upright bicycle. It's just inhumane design~
Yet to meet anyone who prefer a saddle over any kind of chair at home or office.

Dear sifus,
new to bike communities and actually got myself an used tern verge.
i am thinking to change the crankset first. Did some searching and reading some blogs/forums. Final stage should be upgrade to double chainrings but i would like to go with just 1 single chainring at the time being. therefore seek you guys advices; is it Shimano 105 with 53/39 is a good buy? Can i use Ultegra FD-6800 (11 speeds) to pair with 105 double chainrings in the future?
*
Most people "upgrade" because "other people got". "Upgrade" imho an overused sales pitch. I personally prefer to call it modification and customize to your needs.
Before you decide on what to buy, you must determine what you want to achieve. What brand which model is secondary. Nowadays with Pak Google and Mak YouTube, you can find out the comparability.
Are you lacking gears for climbing hill? Get bigger cog and/or smaller chainring. You can ever swap to smaller wheels!
Lacking speed on flat? Bigger chainring and/smaller
Or too fast on downhill? High too much low too little?.... Etc etc etc....
But then again, many buy because it looks great and got face…

you are certainly right. now using stock 1x8s shimano claris (52t, 11-32t) and working on my "leg set".
Not really the best ride but definitely more than OK i will say. I am actually still riding alone and never join any group yet because i do not think i am qualify right now. I do not know my leg's capability but i am sure that i am not going to over-stress my leg set. What i can do is to train as fit as i can.
Upgrade/modification/customize of bike is a arguably long stories with many excuses and reasons. I will say i need my bike to have more versatile for every conditions/circumstances. Of course it does look great and rider got face too.
Pak G and Mak YT are both answered my doubt but i also need to join the forum as well. ask questions of course is much easier to blend in am i right?
*
52T, 11-32t 8 speed is good for many terrains, but also depend on your "leg set". If I were in your position, I would start with a hear rate monitor and a GPS bicycle computer. I am personally using a cheap and cheerful IGPSPORT iGS10 ~RM180, HRM strap around RM100. Optional is a cadence sensor at about RM60.
Whole lot cheaper than the cheapest Bryton which is cheapest of all until igsport show up.
From it you can measure your actual condition and customize your training, exercise and bike accordingly.
If you are technical geek, you can read up on "gear inch" when it comes to gear ratio decisions.
I no face wan… all my bike are ugly besi buruk + chap ayam parts concoction.
*PS, I use 52/36T, 11-34t, because I am old and obese… 36t is mostly unused. Yes, 11-36t freewheel cassette is available. Can delay spending money on free hub change.

I don't care much about expensive parts, but when it comes to cheap parts specifically groups set components, the low end Shimano and MicroShift are bulletproof. Things get easy as 7, 8, 9 speed parts are mostly compatible between MTB and RB. As for cassette, SunRace is my go to name.
For rim brakes, it's the manufacturing method which I look at, specifically forged alloy. Machined are OK but nothing beats properly forged metal.
On freewheel hub, don't go over 8 speed it's a design limitation. Pak G has all the details. Lately, availability of 11-36t freewheel cog had improved I reckon it's due to the popularity of rear electric hub motor. So even 11-40t cogs are available for 8 speed freewheel hubs, unlike a few months ago.
But than again, too wide a range = big gear steps between speed... It can be a show stopper for some kaki...

If you are not sure what modifications you need but you has the urge to splurge you money on your bicycle, go try out different types of tires and inner tube. Performance improvement is surprisingly huge.
