I see. Thanks for suggestion. I read and found out that Tern X22 is world fastest foldie. 22 speed ultegra is pretty good start but sadly this model not available for sale anymore. Any bike has similar of this spec?

Thks

The number of speed describing a bicycle is like the number of speed of gearbox of a car. Not how fast it can go.
Currently, there are no land speed record for folding bike.
The land speed record of bicycle is held by a lady Denise Mueller-Korenek on a mini velo. 183.9km/h

You also require more effort to do same cadence on a 26in than a 20in.

Hi Guys, i got few newbie questions regarding dahon boardwalk..

1. D7 vs D8 - The difference is the gear whereby one is 7 speed and one is 8 speed. Can both be upgraded to 9 speed with just changing the cassette only? The price difference is about RM400
I am just another kedekut old fat geezer… to avoid wasting money, I pay attention to details.

There are 2 common type of hub, the old type which is freewheel which is use for 6,7 and sometimes 8 speed freewheel cassette. The newer one is freehub which are used for 8,9,10,11speed freehub cassette. They are easily distinguished visually.

https://www.sheldonbrown.com/free-k7.html

You need freehub for 9 speed.

Caution, Not all 8speed are freehub. My 2x8speed minivelo is a freewheel setup.

Sora is great. But Microshift will make a even smaller hole in you pocket.

..... I would like to change to larger ring. If I would like to buy used ring, what are the things should I look into to fit it nicely to my foldie? BCD and how many hole? That will be enough? …

Good idea to have oval chainring 53/39 on foldie tern x22?

Im looking for larger chainring but quite hard to find.
*
Oval? As long as you are happy.

53/39 ? This you must ask your legs, nobody can answer for them.

Chainring up to 60T are available. Try hunting from BBS . Offline can ask local bicycle shops, very popular with mosquito bikes.

Im using 52/36 on my rb and confortable with it but friends saying on foldie, due to smaller wheels, it will be lighter if the same gear ratio. Is that true?
*
If you cant tell the difference yourself, why bother so much? You are the one cycling or your friends?

Tern got many models with X22, which one are you referring to?

Hi... got a question regarding 406 tyres... what is the ideal pressure for a just above 90kg rider? Cheers.
*
No such thing as ideal in cycling. Tire pressure included.
Pressure higher puncture lesser, bumpy, roll faster.
Pressure lower less bumpy, more puncture, row slower.
Too high pressure will burst your tire or rim.
Too low you get puncture every 2 yard you ride. You get snake bite puncture holes when your pressure is too low.
There, choose the tire pressure which suits you best. Don't even listen to your wife's advise with tire pressure, trust yourself.

Oh ok... I know tyre pressures for both MTB and RB but atm, I am putting a in-between pressure for a foldie like 60-70psi coz I get various tyre pressure results from Mr. Google...
*
For comfortable ride,
1) Pump to the max rated pressure written on the tire. 2)Test ride, 5km
3)if too bumpy reduce 5psi,
4)test ride 5km
5)repeat 3)-4) until you are happy and without puncture ever other day.

For speed,
1) pump to max pressure rating
2) test ride 30km
3) too slow pump 10psi more
4) test ride 30km
5) repeat 3)-4) until you are happy without rim crack and burst tire.

No need compare la, if you want speed, get an ebike. If you want comfort, get an ebike. If you want a good climber get an ebike.
Any bicycle are as good. Not better than a battery bike.
If you want a tiny fold, get a 14" ebike.

of cos need to compare... it is the comparison of folded size, the neatness ..

design is important. ... so far no folding bike can beat the bromtom.. in term of compactness  lol..

except caracle which uses 20in or 18 in wheel,,, fits into a standard luggage case..

still abit messy...

Brompton clone not super expensive, I bought one for under 1k~ just has to wait for them to appear in ads. Or you can get a 10" or 8", some of them can go into a regular backpack or recycle shopping bag.

i guess those owner sell their clone brompton and go for real brompton for community social purpose?
*
Mine is Cigna, 3 speed stormy Archer. Very nice for under 5km flat rides . In progress to put battery on this one too.
I dunno why the change but the seller said he is clearing all his Brompton and clones for smaller, lighter , with more gears Trinx 16", can do both long and short rides.

If you have zero fitness confident, get the ebike to get started in exercise.
If you are already super fit, buy anything that makes you happy.

Okay understood .how bout will typical bicycle shop repair electric bike.....I been surveying some shop nearest to my home , they don't sell electric bike and they discourage me from buying electric bike ....I'm worry after buying one , these shop won't repair / change a flat tire .Any affordable electric bike to recommend with a lot spare part
*
Where got "lots of spare parts"? A hub motor which consists of 2 bearings, a copper coil, a freewheel clutch, 4 planetary plastic spur gears. A motor controller which you can replace, a lithium ion battery pack, a throttle and 2 break sensing brake handles.
Buy xiaomi ebike if you worry about repairs.
Ebikes involve electricity and cutting edge battery tech. Most lbs can't handle "new" technology… especially they deal with pure mechanical work their whole life. Most ppl just refuse to move out of their comfort zone.
BTW, online buying is for people who has confident to repair their own purchase. Period.
Ebike is the future, like it or not they will dominate the world. It's only a matter of time.
