Just to inform you that if you are thinking about a 26" rims, you might not get the 26" tyres readily available at your LBS.

For example; if you bought a Tern Eclipse X22 that comes with Schwalbe Kojak tyres (35-559), there's a high chance it's not in stock.
So your alternative is to buy from Taobao. icon_question.gif

as for wheelset, the litepro kfun is a good wheelset, 24mm rim profile. its better than ur stock vittese since using sealed bearings.and the rear hub if im not mistaken is identical or should i say oem of novatech hub. novatech hub got so many spareparts.

other than that, u can scout for ruitto wheelset. the low profile 24mm one and sealed bearings. its on par with litepro, also the spoke is nice.but its hard to find locally unless in taobao.

another brand is onka. 30mm wheelprofile with smooth rolling sealed beaeings feel than the litepro, but i saw nowdays also very hard to find.

i hope i answer all of ur question coz im no sifu, just share my expirience.

i"ll vote for RT. smooth rolling, lightweight, and reasonable price (taobao).
k-fun is lighter than dahon stock wheelset, rolling also ok lah. produce tame sound.
onka is still available at one LBS here in melaka (406, 74-100mm). New old stock. price oso cheap. hi-profile, aero spoke. but the downside is it's quite heavy too (1.7 kg without the skewer). sweat.gif

Hi Fatani,

Is that picture an Onka? Cheap means how much is it? Cheaper than Kfun? Heavy, can it be any heavier than stock Dahon?

Any recommended TaoBao seller for foldie parts? Looks like i have to venture to beyond local ( can't read chinese, thus no TaoBao for me so far)

yes. that's an Onka. yes, much cheaper than k fun. am not too sure what's the weight of the original dahon wheelset, but for onka's 1.8kg (incl skewer), it's a bit heavy for me. not that i can't cycle with that load, but i prefer to conserve my energy so that i can ride longer distance in a shorter amount of time. btw, the hub is silent type.

i oso am never a user of taobao (same prob like yours). my friend help me to get those items from that website.

if u prefer the k-fun wheelset, no need to order from taobao ler. got one local seller selling it for rm420 (almost similar to taobao price edi). i bought from him last time. too eager to get the wheelset that time that i can't hold my patience to wait for the longer delivery by taobao.

Thx azam for the comprehensive reply. I would have look at taobao, but the lack of mandarin knowledge prevented me from buying there so far. I saw lots of litepro stuffs in aliexpress,  but not too sure if all those there are original litepros.Any experience buying from Aliexpress for bike stuffs?
Ur suggestion of using and leaving the double second chainring on is good, lesser hassle and im not too worry of chaindrop as i have that tern chain device clam on to my frame.
Now i will need to decide to go for litepros single or using shimanos like tiagras and 105 crankset, as likely the price is lebih kurang.

Will seek out the wheelsets u suggested, and if not, ur recommendation of kfun is good enuff for me.
Thx a lot.

never try ali express. use google translate for buying from taobao. u tought i know mandarin and im malay?nowdays google is your friend maaa..

i will definetely pick shimano crank over the litepro, or at least fsa. like ken said before, litepro is still cap ayam. resale value are sucks!only foldie owners know litepro brand..

if i were u, i'll find old shimano crank. the 5 arms one, and find 130bcd. u can later add on litepro chainring if u wanna go for it. at least, its a good investment over litepro

the rt is lighter than onka, but the rolling smoothness, onka wins. i had onka and still keeping it. i had bought many rt wheelset and experience using it for a while.rt is 24mm and onka is 30mm profile.

30mm is good for all rounder rim, either climbing or flat road.. dont go for high profile like me,.. i buy the highprofile wheelset coz it looks nice.. aero spoke does help u in rolling and wind resistance.

yes, the tiagra crank. or maybe he can topup just a little bit more and get the 105.and yes, in terms of durability, shimanos are hard to beat.

man, now u make me feel a lil bit of regret to not grab the onka..haha. but still, my personal preference is still the lighter wheelset, due to the hilly terrain where i live. u sifu use apa wheelset pun still laju jugak laugh.gif

how much hilly that u consider hilly?mine observation word of hilly means bukit, place named with bukit. like bukit fraser, or bukit bendera. as long as no word bukit means no hilly maa..hahaha

i've done fraser, cfal and also cameron highland with onka wheelset. the benefit of lighter low profile wheelset is for climbing, where else the greatest benefit of high profile is on flat road and when in peloton ur using less effort pedalling (just a few tap easily get 30km/h) but with 30mm, consider all rounder u will get both!

bydaway, 300g are not that much lor. for fb what weight u consider as light?for me, 10kg below are lighter bike for fb.my tern also still didnt acheive below 10kg (its 10.5kg with heavy high profile wheelset). suprisingly, my doppel fx04 are below 10kg for half the price ive done with my tern setup.
