ok. im stuck in this dilemma. ive placed my order on standby for the 6227tx, upgraded to 2gig which comes up to rm4481. after heading over to pc fair today however, i realised theres a dv6174 going for rm4499. upgrading to 2 gigs is only rm200 extra therefore making it rm4699. the diff between the two however is the 6227 comes only with core duo and the 6174 core 2 duo. both the same processing speed. 1.83 ghz. can anyone give feedback on these 2 processors and which would be more preferrable? the 6227 also only comes with geforce go 7200, 6174 with 7400. also the other catch is that the 6174 comes preloaded with vista basic only. the 6227 comes with premium. i very much want the premium and a friend had suggested to just get the 6174 and worry about software later as worst come 2 worst i can always get the *ahem* version and install it over the home basic. he said it would be better to only have to worry about software issues than having to worry about hardware in the long run which makes sense. so any opinions?? thanks.

is it really worth sacrificing the processing speed?? and besides i heard that intel has stopped producing core duo chips and also they're not so "future proof" as they're only 32-bit capable??

my problems have been solved. just found out that i was given the wrong specs by my friend regarding the 6227. it does in fact come with core 2 duo. and i also noticed that the 6174 screen is a tft lcd not a HD lcd as with the 6227. only thing, the 6227 that im getting still comes with 7200 gpu. but i guess since im provided with 2g of ram which are running at 667mhz compared to other 6227's that are being sold with 7400's and only 533mhz running rams(can u confirm this zoglandboy??) i guess id rather settle for the higher ram speeds than slightly better graphic card since i wont be gaming much. will let y'all know as soon as i join d club!! saw pavilion models at pc fair which are similar in outlook and they look fantastic. cant wait!

thanks 4 d advice.

now im really confused. the specs on the 6227 that was offered is 1.86 and it clearly states core 2 duo on the paper. so which one is it now??

hmmm. that might probably cause me to change my mind to 6174. but i just found out last night like i mentioned earlier that that 6174, although core 2 duo, only has a TFT lcd compared to 6227 which has a HD lcd and also comes with vista premium. im guessing it would be more advisable to stick to 6227?

You might have mistaken sth. TFT is the type of LCD while HD defines the resolutions.
All Pavilion DV should have the same type of LCD, that is WXGA TFT-LCD. Take 6174 if you can afford it.

ah okok. sorry my bad. hmmm. but the big turn off is that the 6174 only comes with vista basic. so what do u think i should do.

Usually in advertising industry, each ads  are rechecked several time by the customer and the publisher before go to the printing section...How about someone call HP and confirm this  rclxms.gif  What paper did you see it?

its a brochure promoting a few hp pavilion dv series.

you're comparing DV6227 and DV6174 issit..? both is retail unit..? or 6227 is retail while 6174 is refurbished..? DV6174 for RM4499(retail unit) is not retail unit in my mind..? Promotion is going on..?

thats what im confused about also. coz at pc fair they were selling the 6174 for rm4499 and it comes with vista basic. supposedly, the other models that only come with MCE are upgradable to vista premium for free (according to them, logging onto hp website, entering ur details and they'll ship over the cd). sounds kind of dodgy to me. and those that came with vista basic (6174) are not upgradable to vista premium. the thing is, if i get the 6174, and upgrade it to 2gb of ram, it will cost RM4699. but i lose out on vista premium which is a key element for me and also the backpack. but if i settle for 6227, i get only core duo, but vista premium and the backpack for only RM4481. dilemma.... anyway, im gonna check with hp 2moro on the exact specs for the 6227 in my package as like i mentioned b4 it stated core 2 duo 1.86ghz so its either a misprint in the processor speed or misprint in the processor itself.

You can get it cheaper than that from LYP or seller from garage sales.
C2D T7200 4MB Cache, 160 GB HDD. RAM upgrade upon purchase.

15.4 is all widescreen right? coz i got the brochure from lowyat and it states 1200x768 and it should be 1200x800 right? misprint perhaps? coz even on the hp website it says 1200x800

anyone can advise on partitioning using shrink volume???
how exactly does it work??

Attached Image

does this mean that the 24 gigs will be the remainder of my c:?? my d: is left as the recovery partition. so there will be a new drive f: with however much space i specify?? considering e: is my dvd drive??

wow...ok ok...will add ya to the list... smile.gif

ok...first of all, you need to uninstall norton and instalal another third party software....( i personally like avast, google it over the net to download it..its free!!!)

install avast on your other comp also... (avast is an antivirus software by the way... tongue.gif)

next you need to follow this settings for vista

then you just right click on which folder/drive you wanna share on both comp, restart both comp and you're done!

make sure windows defender unblocks all the connection....

you need to connect them to a router...did you do that?? tongue.gif
