I called TM for this RYE but I am ineligible. I am on 179/50Mbps.. what is the criteria actually?
*
Walk into a TM Point, ask to add RM10 for upgrade to 100Mbps. If your place is capable of higher speeds, then you they should agree. Else continue to insist politely.

guys, yesterday i received a call from TM to upgrade my existing Unifi Lite 10mbps to Unifi 30mbps for just Rm139 excluding GST. This upgrade includes HyppTV and free 600 minutes call (land line and mobile numbers)

i have check the Unifi website they do have this 30mbps but without the 600 mins free call. do anyone in /k received this promo or is it real?
*
Just take it.. That plan normally doesn't come with free call. I know cuz I fought for months to have them include it in mine.. but they adamantly refused.. The Hypptv should be Jumbo Lite.

I am paying for 179 per month for 30mbps. The telemarketer offer an add on of 10 ringgit to upgrade to 50mbps with no contract renewal and the discount will be perpetual. The telemarketer offer me this and told me that they offer this plan because I usually uses 1.2TB per month. Do you guys think this is a good offer?
*
Reject.. Can counter.. Ask for 189 for 100Mbps if your place supports. If it doesn't ask for price reduction to 139, after granted and reflected.. Walk to TM Point and ask for additional RM10 for 50Mbps or just ask straight..

I was offered upgrade from 30 to 50 with additional rm10 (rm189 monthly) and accepted.. Can i request them to upgrade again to 100mbps?

now the HyppTV page, whole Unifi page also kenot open.
i mau cari what else can i get, manatau kelmarin upgrade 10 to 30mbps, then
esok i can try up to 50mbps, then next month up again to 100mbps hahaha
jimat kan?
*
All sounds legit. Can request is one thing, them accepting and implementing is another. Last I remember reading is that can only do the RM10 speed bump once. Want higher? Have to pay the normal price as per website. But, worth trying.. smile.gif

Goshh.. I shouldn't accepted the offer at the first place.. Or should I?
*
Nope, based on what others HAVE gotten, should not have accepted 189 for 50Mbps as others are getting 100Mbps plus Jumbo and free calls. As per my previous post. What I advice is that you first ask for price reduction as I did to 139 for 30Mbps. After that's approved, immediately ask for 149 for 50Mbps. High chances this works. The final step is asking for bump to 100Mbps which means you'd actually be paying RM159 per month for 100Mbps plan. Which I don't think anyone else has and why I believe TM won't allow it.. biggrin.gif

Ok Thanks for your information..

The matter is I just got the confirmation to reboot my modem yesterday. Can I still try this method out?
*
You already agreed to a new plan.. It might be difficult to change it.. Walk into a TM Point or HQ better.. Try to resolve it. Be polite and pushy at the same time.

QUOTE(TVWatcher @ Mar 11 2018, 09:21 AM)
Hi,

Just wanted to ask.  Yesterday, I think a heard a beep from my modem (or router).  Not sure which as they're side by side.  Does that mean TM reset my port or something?

After that I seem to have trouble getting links on TTV, Kodi and Youtube.  I power cycled the modem and router and it has improved somewhat but still feels 'touchy'.

Everything was fine before the beep.  Using TP Link C1200 from TM, stock TM firmware.  No issues before that.

I'm on Unifi 30Mbps.  Thanks.
*
hmm.gif Never heard any beeps from either my modem or router.. Both are TM supplied equipment.. Not even aware if they are supposed/capable of making audible noises..

Hi Guys,

Is there a lot of difference between ASUS 87U and ASUS 86U router. Experts please advice...

Where can I get a good deal for ASUS 86U please advice ...TQVM
*
From this features comparison page, it seems like the Asus RT-AC86U is the better choice... It has faster speeds (theoretical) on the 5Ghz band & double the available flash and RAM memory than the RT-AC87U.

Purchase wherever you feel the most comfortable.. Best prices is to buy from overseas, but you lose out warranty wise.. Because, in most cases Asus Malaysian prices can be as much as double what we can get elsewhere... Up to you to decide if warranty and peace of mind is worth the added cost of purchasing local or not.. smile.gif

ok..between this AC87U and AC86U which one of these has more stable performance ?
*
I believe my previous response stayed which is the better buy and why... More memory tends to equal a more stable performance. Anyway, since I don't have personal experience with either.. Here..reviews..
86U and 87U
Both are respected reviewers and so reviews can be trusted. Especially Blacktubi.. He's well known for networking equipment and tests for real world usage.. Not just theoretical speeds.

ok great but features are not so important to me only its the 5GHz speed must be really good which be able to support future up to 500Mbps...
*
Additional memory for a router isn't just extraneous features.. It's extremely vital. If you'd read any of the reviews or did a light googling you'd see that both routers can support beyond 500Mbps. Additional features aren't important until you find out about them, use em and see how much improvement. Besides, high-end routers tend to have these additional features.. Most of which can be turned off and you don't have to use it. Ultimately, the decision lies with you. smile.gif

ASUS has many high end routers which is the right router to go for ASUS68U [some claim is the most stable UNIFI router ever] ASUS 87U, ASUS86U,ASUS 88U [are designed for gamers ]. Basically router are designed to last longer..

Is always the best to go for the latest router etc ASUS 86U ....
*
So now you already know which to buy between the two and is quite satisfactory.. Else, you can always spring for the beasty Asus ROG Rapture GT-AC5300.... Sure zero complaints then.. tongue.gif

Need to apply TM first.. Once approved and confirmed installation date and time with installer.. Then go terminate Maxis.

currently using D-Link DIR850L from TM. is there any way to request change router to TP-Link Archer C1200??

or is there any better router thats affordable in the market?
*
Dear Shikamaru,

You can call TM to request..BUT the DIR850L must be within warranty and really bad for them to come change it for free. Else not only will you be charged RM5x for wasting the tech's time, you might still feel the need to purchase another router. There are plenty of better routers in the market.. Just check back 2 pages and you'll see a few recommended.. Question is.. What constitutes "affordable" and are you willing to cough up the cash for it.

Regards,
N.U. tongue.gif

QUOTE(OwlsHeart @ Mar 14 2018, 12:52 AM)
Someone enlighten me plz , im a little confused here on this math,

so i was paying rm179+gst=189 for 30mbps&hypp tv,months later got the free upgrade to 50mbps then few days ago got offered upgrade to 100mbps for rm199+gst=rm210

I see most talking about the rm10 upgrade so if i was on rm179 then it should be rm189 for 100mbps right? after gst should be rm199. How come im paying rm20 for the upgrade to 100mbps?

is it because they included ruby pack? it's not free is it and cost another rm10? if so can request to exclude to save another rm10? my hypp modem has been collecting dust since day 1, we dont even use it lol
*
Typically, when you get called with an offer, it's not often the best one. If you didn't accept the offer and still on the 179 for 50Mbps package. Either call TM or better still, walk to a branch and request for the +RM10 for bump to 100Mbps.. This has been discussed many times over..

Thanks for your all input. Not familiar with unifi pattern  sweat.gif i currently have another year  contract with unifi so cant terminate now. Will contact unifi for further understanding on this rate they signed me on
*
It’s alright fam. But don't wait till you are out of contract.. That's more months of overpaying. Many here (myself included) are within contracts and still managed to negotiate a better deal. You are seeking to upgrade, no penalty as you won't be terminated.. They'll just adjust your monthly fees and switch your plan. And if lucky, all can be done without the contract restarted. Yes, means you'll still have just one year left vs starting a new 2 years contract. nod.gif

I prefer marching down to HQ if within KL or a TM Point to rectify it.

QUOTE(IMfae_ @ Mar 14 2018, 03:06 PM)
so, is it bad or good  +rm10/rm20 to get 100mbps? mine currectly is 50mbps for rm179. but already thinking about termintaion. mid year TM gonna come out with new product right?
*
Why pay +20 when you can pay only +10 to get the same thing..If you don't mind paying the extra, then it's good for you. Else, it's bad.

Yeah... probably like this:

RM79 - 10Mbps
RM99 - 30Mbps
RM119 - 50Mbps
RM139 - 100Mbps
RM169 - 150Mbps
RM199 - 200Mbps

*
Highly doubt it as unlike TIME, TM is crippled by old infra tech all over. Unless they aggressively begin upgrading works, especially with high-rise buildings.

it will be sick of them to ask u for +rm20.

becos u r already paying rm209 for 50mbps.
*
TM don't care.. All waterfishes welcome. So sad, at least we here know and get decent pricing and package.. Hundreds of thousands who don't know and simply autopay each month.

QUOTE(cfa28 @ Mar 16 2018, 07:59 PM)
I tried to ask for discount by giving up my 600 minutes free call but was rejected.

You got very good price for your current package. 5p mbps with Jumbo packages and 600 minutes for RM189

How did you get it. What was the history of your package
*
If in KL, march straight to HQ and politely demand for it. Tell so many got d.. Threaten to terminate and they can sue or send all the red letters they like.. You won't pay. But that if they concede thus small request.. You'll not only pay every month but spread the word on social media that TM is bestest.. Sell it like you mean it. Trust me, the inside manager at the office will approve.. nod.gif

QUOTE(Dickong @ Mar 16 2018, 08:26 PM)
I am most lucky one paying 159.00 excluding gst for 50Mbps  plus jumbo pack n 600minutes free call
*
Sorry to bust your bubble.. But most lucky one is paying RM169/179 for 100Mbps.. Which is twice your current speed. Upload and download speeds.. Oh yeah, plus an extra Hypptv package like Ruby.. tongue.gif

I still believe for 50Mbps user i am still the best n for your info i can upgrade to 100Mbps for 169 but i turn down their offer bcos for me 50mbps speed is good enough for me.
Definitely not best value-wise... package for RM.. So my earlier comment still stands. 6" pizza = RM15/16.. 12" pizza for RM17.. Doesn't matter if 6" is enough for you alone. The better deal remains the 12" pizza. smile.gif
