Aiya, sorry to hear about your gig man... smile.gif

Actually, Rust is the one who likes saying 666 BPM all the time..!  tongue.gif

No lah, where got? It's 777BPM FTW! tongue.gif

Hey, anyone knows whether the standard gauge for RG7s from the factory is 9-52 or 9-54? I remember reading/hearing somewhere that it's 9-52 but when I checked the Ibanez website, it says that the standard gauge is 9-54...

Damn, I just bought EB Slinky's 9-52 for me and Val... sad.gif

Blacktrix, you're using standard E tuning on your LP right?

EDIT:
Hey Val/EQ, if you guys are going to JS Music or will be speaking to Jee, can you ask what's the best price they can quote for an X2N-7 and a D-Activator 7 Neck?

EQ, I checked out the sevenstring threads on DA7, they say the eq curve for the Neck pickup is supposed to compensate for the vibrations in the strings in the neck pup area... the curve is spiked that way so that you will still get a relatively flat eq response like the DA7 Bridge and active pups in general.

Standard gauge and tuning depends on the manufacturer and brand. Ibanez RG7s come standard with 9-54 gauge (according to the website) and in standard B (B E A D G B E)... with the exception of the Korn signature K7 and Apex models which come in standard A (A D G C F A D)...

Don't know much about 7-string LPs though, I'm generally not a fan of Gibson models... hehe wink.gif

But if you can get your hands on one, do let us know how it plays. I'm kinda interested in how a short-scale 7-string would feel like...

i want the 8 string. . .but can't afford it. . . it's 6750. . . and also if i want mine it has to have a high A instead of the low F#/G and the ibz 8 don't come setup for that. . .

below 7-8k i guess..

any links ?

IIRC the Jeff Loomis signature Schechter is maple fretboard one... neck should be thin/fast also, considering he's such a mofo... hehe... tongue.gif

Ok... how about the UV777GR? IMO the color and color combination is utterly hideous... but it's the only Universe with a maple fretboard. Neck profile should be like other Universes... but but it doesn't have the AANJ, so you're stuck with the old-school bolt-on neck joint. wink.gif

Of course, getting your hands on one of these is a different story altogether... very limited production run... very hard to find. jemsite used price guide is on average about USD8xx-USD13xx.

Guess more u-box trawling, huh? wink.gif

EDIT: Yup, i checked u-box, and no UVs there... oh well... tongue.gif

Argh... I just trawled through Ishibashi for sake of it just now and calculated how much a UV777BK would cost. Comes up to about RM6.9k inclusive of shipping and tax... <sigh> the grass is always greener on the other side... sad.gif

IIRC, the new UV777BK neck profile is the same as the Wizard7 Prestige... super-high gloss finish, abalone body binding and neck binding... grrr, GAS! blink.gif

aikz? your 1527 got finish on it? mine has no finish. . . which is why i like cause i prefer necks with no gloss. . .

and vai 1 not that good lar. . . overpriced hehe =) unless you play his songs and aspire to be him xD
*
oops... forgot about the gloss part. Nope, mine got no gloss. Then again, guess I'll have to re-GAS for something else... like the bloody 8427 J-Custom, which IIRC is actually more expensive than the dang UV777BK! biggrin.gif

whoa... carvin legacy... what kind of gospel music you guys play lah?! Necromanticide-style Christian extreme metal? notworthy.gif

Lolz haven't yet!
But we just sent our guitars to Tham today!

Turned out the string gauge on my guitar was really 10-56. No wonder it was so tight for my weak fingers! Hehe...kinda glad.

Switching to 9-52 wooohooo! Gay gauges FTW!
Faizal will be using 9-54s.

Wanna tumpang pickups or not. Order one shot!
*
Gayges! tongue.gif Use 9-54 lah... 4 the win! biggrin.gif

... in the words of a certain studio owner (and ex-heavy metal drummer), "Guna heavy gauge barulah best. Lebih tone. Kena pick lagi kuat, dapat train heavy picking hand." thumbup.gif

Lolz... eh, I hope Tham remembers to stick an extra spring in the back. And I hope when I pick up the guitar, he can teach me how to stick the bloody whammy bar in!

Yup, until today I have no friggin' clue how to pasang the damn Edge whammy. Manual says, just push in until everything goes in... but I takut I break something... hehe... not like I'm gonna use it for anything other than stretching strings mou... whistling.gif whistling.gif

Echo, just buy a 7-string and convert join the ranks of the 7rue Believers lah... F7W of course... rclxm9.gif

wth? i tot ernie should be cheaper?

anyway nxt time you get it tell me i oso want!
not really lar. . . no matter what still wont be more than 1.8k. . .

quality and build. .  . but IMHO if you getting X37 i rather you get the 7321. . .
*
Hehe, guess the Singaporeans really value them (Ernie) Ballz... biggrin.gif

Anyway, isn't it a bit difficult trying to get the Washburn locally, even if you order online? Won't the shipping plus sales tax push the price up to the point that you might as well get the 7321?

Hmmm... echo, you can try sourcing a 2nd-hand 7 from Ishibashi. You can definitely get a semi-new 1527 for around mid-RM2k range... or get a K7 like Valkyrie! thumbup.gif

Better than the Washburn, IMO... hehe, no offense EQ! icon_rolleyes.gif

You sure give people a run for their money! thumbup.gif

...but seriously, you think Tham's going to charge you RM200 only?

You do realize that he will have to widen the neck joint area, pickup cavities and the bridge (yeah, you forgot to include getting a 7-string bridge standard tremolo bridge!)... RM200? hmm.gif

Between the "ok" and the "anot", I think it'll have to be "anot"... tongue.gif

*********************************

Ok, this may sound like a bit of shameless self-promotion but... tongue.gif

Serpent Ash is tentatively scheduled to perform next week at:

Venue: KL Jam Asia, Sri Hartamas
Date: Thursday (24.5.2007)
Time: 9.00 p.m.
Ticket: ???
(should be around RM10-15 or so)

The gig is called Piano Forte and there will be about 4-5 bands playing that night. I'm not sure who the other bands are since the official flyers aren't out yet but IIRC one of them will be a band called Lycra/Lightcraft (sp?).

Oh, and if you're wondering why I'm posting it here in the Sanctuary, it's because Valkyrie and I will be on guitars (K7 and 1527 respectively - yup, we're Ibanez-7 ho'z now wink.gif ), so there is some relevance to 7-string stuff, ehem!.. biggrin.gif

The rest of the Serpent Ash line-up is:
Vocals - Joey from UTAR (you can see her pic in some posters from A Cut Above)
Bass - some guy who prowls through this Forum but doesn't post much
Drums - Vbs (yeah, that kiddo who spams in the Drummers Paradise - don't let looks deceive you, he's fast and bloody LOUD) whistling.gif

We'll be playing a short set comprised mostly of originals with one or two covers. Our stuff is pretty much influenced by power metal, with some NWOBHM influences (which is what power metal is based on anyway, hehe... biggrin.gif ).

Feel free to drop by if you can make it... thumbup.gif

took me awhile to tune up the 7 floyd rose dang monster. change the string gauge back down to 0.010-0.056 XD heh, tuned to C cause most of the song gonna be on that tune. 2 more weeks to go for the gig.
*
Good luck for your gig, mate! And don't forget to take pix/vids for the rest of us on this side of the South China Sea... thumbup.gif

GT-8 FTW... too bad they don't have a GT-7, hehe... wink.gif

Anyway, no worries, mate... you went above and beyond for the last gig. thumbup.gif ...hehe, if you wanna hear Heimdall with vocals... there's a super-secret mix with our bassist, Vbs and Val singing...

QUOTE(Silver Isle @ May 16 2007, 06:31 PM)
Hey! I so want to go! Anyone going from Subang? biggrin.gif
*
Hehe, 2/5 of the band is from Subang. Maybe you can try asking Vbs, coz he'll be coming from there anyway (he better be!)... biggrin.gif
