and yes. . .the buzz i guess is from the pup. . . thats why im changing my pup. . . my AVT150 buzzes when the volume is up. . . ( pity my neighbours)

when low volumes it doesnt buzz.. . and one more tip try rollng your volume on your guitar. . . it works for me.. .  i roll down the volume on my guitar and crank up the amp and pedal volume. . . that is why i came to a conclusion it is our pup. . . i dont think val has the same problem?
*
Hey, thanks for the tip, mate... I'll give it a go this weekend and see how it works out.

Me and Val are sending our 7s for set-up in the 3rd week of May. Just hope I can scrounge enough cash for pups by then so I can have 'em installed one shot, but I seriously doubt it... sad.gif

JS Music can probably get me a good price on the X2N-7s but their next shipment is only in June or so...

Oh yeah, and I finally figured out why the EMG7s can't fit into the 1527 pickup cavity- the bloody things are housed in bass pickup casings so they take up more space than regular 7-string pups. Guess I really have no choice but to get passive pups this time 'round...

Hey, Beatmasta, you're rig sounds quite brutal... you'll be using it for your gig? ...and you still haven't told us what songs you're gonna play! biggrin.gif

yeah most of it..need to contruct a board to hold those effects on the floor. for songs not sure wat to bring yet..mayb play own song plus some cover ones
*
Ok, cool, mate... Just make sure you take some vids of the gig for the benefit of us Sanctuarites who can't make it for your gig... wink.gif

Gee, I realized that we're on the 7th page of the Sanctuary already. Up the 7 FTW!

Next LYN Gathering, we all better turn out in force... and with Beatmasta and his ub3r-low tunings, guess we won't be needing a bassist for the low-end... hehe... tongue.gif

EQ, teach me some RC riffs lar... then during the Gathering we can whack the riffs and Val can prance around with his K-7 and pretend he's Munky Cooley... nu-classical shred mou.. thumbup.gif whistling.gif

Equilibrium dun u hide ur skills from me i can smell it already. yoh..not so fast there haven reach that stage of world tour lol just a small gig onli. usually i dun use the other tones and could be a reason why i always use the bridge humbucker more than the front neck one. easy switching frm back to middle then front 3 way switch.

yeah we can all gather have drinks , exchange knowledge..skills. would be a great thing.
*
Yeah, it's not a world tour... it's a CRUSADE! rclxm9.gif

And you're right, it's time for EQ to stop hiding... show us the SHRED! tongue.gif

Yeah, let's join Beatmasta's Crusade across the South China Sea... we can be his cannon fodder as he blasts the audience to smithereens with his subsonic riffing! thumbup.gif

I'll try my best to get someone to record the gig , looks like i'm gonna play in another gig..jst got call frm my vocalist asking to extend my stay since there's another gig going on in may. aiyoh . its hard stuffs to prepare for a gig i think Rusty n Val should know already..arranging music and everyone needs to be able to click with each other. It may look like i'm gonna play drums in certain parts.
*
Good luck to you man! thumbup.gif

Anyway, for us, it was pretty difficult and not that hard at the same time.

It was pretty difficult because we got one day's notice for the gig..... but not that hard because we've been practising the set for a few months already... laugh.gif ...and yet still slop like mad...

In the immortal words of Valkyrie:

DAMN SLOPPY WEI!! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

And this was said very very loudly on stage where everyone else could hear... lolz... tongue.gif

nope.. iirc from what i heard, the 2 from metalasia one was purchased together. but tham's one was bought overseas at a different time. pure coincidence. damn kai.
*
eh... I thought Tham's and one of King Shah's were bought from SLC together for like RM1800 each?

I think the overseas one was Ritz's (or the Kamikaze that King Shah let him use)... it was mentioned in a Guitar Dan Bass interview I think... biggrin.gif

But seriously, Calvin, try asking him to show you his "Jason Becker" thesis... Me and Teko haven't seen it but it's supposed to be damn brutal... shocking.gif

Jason Becker thesis? WTF? wat dat? serrana with dual hand appregios? Mables Fatal Fable with double the original tempo? !??!?!?!?!
*
I think something very much influenced by Jason Becker. Sure must got lotsa melodic sweep arpeggios! thumbup.gif

And I really don't think our 1527s are in serial, since mine is 2007... the year of the 7 FTW! rclxms.gif

yess.. you're right, rust! i stand corrected.
this man knows his facts.
listen to him for he knows the TRUTH!

..and stuff like that.
*
Yes, and the TRUTH lies in the low B string.... tongue.gif

And to bring things back on topic... IIRC Metalasia are using 7-strings now. Not sure what model though, Universe most likely....

Haven't heard of them doing any gigs recently... Would love see some 7-string harmonized metal shredding... their pix from their Korean gig looked damn cool... thumbup.gif

but surprisingly they shred well. . . i mean in a sense they don go all out ganas shit. . . its very much dual melody harmonization. . . very nice. .. but the youtube comments are ballz. .. them white ppl think they all that great and we Malaysians suck lmao
*
Yeah, well... can't say I really enjoyed the Silantra album though. The production was quite crappy and I didn't really like their melodies. If they wanna put Malay influence, masuklah melody macam rock kapak 80-an! ...ok, ok... those 80s rock kapak melodies were probably ripped off 80s J-rock and proto-Eurometal. I mean, I was listening to Helloween's "The Dark Ride" (2000) the other day and I swear the intro guitar melody could have been from an 80s Search song played by Hilary! laugh.gif

But I think they'd be an awesome band to see live... the drumming sounds quite power... wonder when they're gonna release a new album, though. I read somewhere that King Shah is now hosting some racer reality show on NTV7 or something... what the... blink.gif

...and good luck trying to get Tham to show you his chops, he can be very very reluctant... we think he's a devout follower of Uncle Ben's maxim: "With great power comes great responsibility" laugh.gif

Guys... back to the 7 String topic please........
There is a perfectly good general thread for guitars for you to use also.....
*
It's all Vbs' fault, he started it! tongue.gif

Ok, ok... let's talk 7-string stuff now... like... err... ...mmm... 7-STRINGS ROXXORZ FTW!!!! biggrin.gif whistling.gif

...but seriously... erm, dunno if I've posted this before, but for lack of any other 7-string discussion material: EMGs don't fit into RG7s because those basket EMG techs actually house the pups in bass pickup casings... so some woodwork is required to make it fit... ...err, this sounds damn familiar, I probably posted it in the pickups thread... lolz... icon_rolleyes.gif

ok, here's another shot... val's looking for a whammy-bar for his K-7. According to Jemsite, his bridge is a "LoPro "Double Edge" 7 with U-bar". Ok, I know that EdgePro7 and Edge7 Low Pro use the same whammy-bar- see http://www.jemsite.com/jem/trems.htm.

Anyone know if the "LoPro "Double Edge" 7 with U-bar" uses the same whammy-bar? And more importantly... where to get??? smile.gif

Now hopefully blacktrix won't shut us down! thumbup.gif

*
aiyaa... no need make so obvious I double post lar... I only trying to steer the topic back to 7 string so Mr Blacktrix won't shut us down! shhh shhh!!! whistling.gif whistling.gif

QUOTE(Everdying @ Apr 22 2007, 10:40 PM)
there is someone selling a RG7420 for RM1.6k.
MIJ of cos, but with a lo-trs, so you'll probably go bald faster from trying to get it to stay in tune tongue.gif
*
Yeah, if the guy is willing to sell it. The guitar has been up for like dunno how many months... I asked him in March and he said it's not available. Think he was reserving it for a friend or something (who obviously FFK him since he's posted it up again!).

The 7321 is definitely a better bet if you don't require a floating bridge. Even if you do want a 7 with a floating bridge, try aiming for a 2nd hand 7620 or save up for the 1527... The LowTRS7 is supposed to be a POS compared to the LoPro Edge7 (RG7620) and the EdgePro7 (RG1527)...

QUOTE(Equilibrium777 @ Apr 22 2007, 08:19 PM)
with a 7 you can do everything the 6 can but more. .  (i think i've said that alot of times. . . could be our new 7 string motto. . . )
*
How about "1337 isn't spelled with a 6"? tongue.gif whistling.gif

hehe better keep this low. . . later the other guys from the guitar thread come find us xD
*
Yeah, but seriously RM1.6k for a 7420 is a bit steep... and it's a 2000 model IIRC, so it's about 7 years old already.

RM1.8k for a 7321 from Bents really sounds like a better deal. And if the guy is an "aspiring" guitarist, better for him not to go through the hassle of changing strings on a floating bridge (7 strings to fine-tune can be a major pain!)... biggrin.gif

Oh, and about the whammy-bar from Bents... I called them up on Sunday and they said, nope, they don't sell the whammy-bar or U-bar separately... lolz... guy probably didn't even know what I was talking about and took the safe route: "No, we don't sell that." tongue.gif

haha. . . retard. . . i'll ask for you since i'm going today to restring and stuff. . .

it takes me nearly an hour or so to restring my damn 1527. . . damn thing . . . lolz. . .  you and val got your gutiar back from tham d?
*
no lah... he said he can only do it around 14-18 May...

Dunno if I should change my strings before then, or just tahan until I can send it to Tham... decisions decisions... biggrin.gif

Okay, this next item isn't really about 7-strings but I just couldn't help myself...

laugh.gif I don't think fine-tuning is really necessary since he is just going to start off

I bet my friend can't even tell which note is which
*
Hehe, sorry, what I meant was to actually get the strings in tune. Floating bridge can be very daunting to tune... and 7-strings to balance out the tuning= rclxub.gif

A fixed bridge is a lot easier to maintain also... all in all, your friend is better off going for the 7321... thumbup.gif

As long as it's a Seven! But Rust is right, having to tune a floating bridge as a beginner can, and WILL BE Hel. Heck, even with fixed bridge it can be tough!  doh.gif
Hey Calvin, so how goes things with your Audition? wink.gif
Managed to hustle a drummer yet? Hehe......

Woi! We wanna see EQ's 7-string chopzorrz FTW!!! drool.gif
