I am interested to buy a used Forte or Cerato. My budget is RM30k or more, up to RM50k if it is justifiable. I have just completed my education and will be seeking for work. It will be my first car.

I have no particular brand in mind but am leaning towards Cerato or Civic. I am keen to have a C segment car with safety features. Pls advise. TQ.

Hey guys,

Need some help. I went to KIA service center at chan sow lin and they diagnosed my car with the following :

1) front lower arm Bush crack - both left and right
2) rear absorber Bush not good condition

Subsequently they gave me a quote (after a few days!) when I followed up with them, they showed me (attached) costing RM2k. That's like a major overhaul or something and so many parts seem to be in the quote. I'm really noob in car mechanics and hope someone here will be able to advice if I can go to a 3rd party to fix this at a cheaper price. RM2k for me is ridiculous to fix at this point
*
Wow!! Crazy prices quoted.
Am not sure if the original parts supplied by the SC merit such price points.

Try getting an alternate quote from a reputable 3rd party workshop. See if original parts supplied by them are cheaper or otherwise.

agreed better get 2nd opinion, plus they might be ripping you off when nothing really wrong with your car. Did you notice anything odd about your car in a sense of in recent weeks/months? If u didnt, then i wonder if there's anything really wrong...

Forte 2.0 or Cerato 2.0 will give you best safety features with 6 airbags, ESC, EBD, TC, BA etc. I've owned myself 2010 Forte 2.0 until now with peace of mind.. nod.gif

Ya..me too. 6 airbags + ESC are also my main reason to buy Forte beside the good look & value for money (many high end features at that time). It was an easy choice at that moment. & this year, also an easy choice for me to buy another Kia, the Optima GT.. thumbsup.gif

Noticed my reverse camera quite blur, try to clean the lense with tooth paste but still blur, planning to polish it to see can fix it or not.

Anyone encounter same problem? And possible solution?

Worst come to worst is to replace the camera, anyone know where can I get it?

Any accessory shop should be able to replace the reverse cam (though different model/type). If want to replace with original one, maybe need to get from SC...

AFAIK, any reverse camera will do regardless model & design. Up to the owner whether to install the cheap or expensive one which differs in quality. I've changed mine once..i chose the intermediate quality camera that suits nicely at the back of my car...

guys...currently thinking of changing forte 2.0 stock 17inch rim n tyre to 16inch one...for rim i know it depend on our preference buy as for tyre, which one is recommended? current tyre is very noisy, looking to replace with silent n comfort one... what tyre model n whats the price?

actually this is my sis car n i just drove it occasionally, now maybe its time to replace since lately she's been complaining a lot...i assume tyre is rm 250 per piece so total 4 pieces is rm 1000...so maybe 16inch rim also rm 1000 price considered fair?

I also downgraded my Forte 2.0 stock 17" rim to 16" rim. It's lighter & boost car acceleration with better FC & comfort too. But trust me, it's quite hard to find 16" rim with 5 studs..so less option to find a lightweight one with nice design.

As for tyre, i've used Michelin Primacy 3 ST..so silent & comfy. Price is a bit high (about RM350/tyre) but for me it well worth it. I'm on the second set of Mich Primacy 3 ST now & the first set of tyres last about 80k km...

firstly thanks for responding.

anyway i dont know much but whats the significant of 16 inch rim with 5 studs? do we need more or less studs? for reference, how much is your 16 inch rim that u bought it??

as for that Michelin tyre u mentioned, kinda a bit over budget for me but if can get good price for rim, then maybe i can consider your recommendation.

5 studs = 5 holes (PCD 114.3)..usually most 16" & below rim came with 4 holes. To find 16" rims with 5 holes is quite hard actually & not many choices in the market.

Cant remember my rim price..but less than RM1.5k if i'm not mistaken. I bought a lightweight 16" rim that weigh only 7kg as compared to stock 17" rim that weigh around 11kg if i'm not mistaken

Hi to all members in this group, can anyone share a list of 3rd party Naza Kia trusted workshop???

I'm going to get 1 Kia Forte after March this year so would like to make some study on the maintenance fee after owning a Forte.
