I just got myself new BCD called the Scubapro litehawk, anyone using this? id like some feedback, im still building up my set so i might test it after i finally bite the bullet on the fourth element proteus 2

I don't have any feedback on your bcd. But when you are trying it out for the first time, try to get familiar with the dump valves before jumping in. I always forget to do that laugh.gif

Also take the opportunity to sort out things like streamlining and stowage of stuff. If you are using integrated weights, get familiar with them as you don't want to release them accidentally during a dive when you are fumbling with something else.

haha..ha.ha...ha.....*cough cough* what integrated weights? no integrated weights no sir yeah........well the dump valves are mainly on the right top and bottom including yanking the actual air2 secondary regulator on the left top which i choose to add.

well im a small person so streamlining shouldnt be an issue since i chose a travel BCD as opposed to a standard BCD, yeah but sure thanks for some tips

streamline design, neat and uncluttered and being a travel BCD transportability, i pretty much have a vision on how i want to design my setup to be as no frills as possible. soo....yup yup thats probably what i was attracted with i suppose?

Ok if you're not wearing integrated weights, what about a weight belt then? Does it sit well with your new wetsuit and bcd?

Streamlining is a function of how you stow your gear and not about your size. Things like your hoses, gauges, accessories. Attach them and see whether you need to buy anything (clips, bungee, zipties, bands etc) to secure them.. get some practice in the water taking them off and restowing it. You don't something getting caught when you jump off a boat, or falling into the ocean because it came loose laugh.gif

Your gear will eventually find ways to betray you so might as well prepare yourself against it laugh.gif

well actually the side pockets on the sides can be used for weights but im thinking of testing in the pool first before i jump to conclsions, as for wet suit since im going to get a new one anyways which is the much talked about fourth element proteus 2 i did ask around and at least what im told that its neutrally buoyant due to the materials. but i cant say much yet since im re-building some of my equipment to match what i can afford now

not everyone is the same you know, just because youre fine with it doesnt mean others are, i get cold easily so a wetsuit is a must, besides getting in one isnt tough if you have an inner layer.

I think wetsuits are more bergaya because they're more form fitting... it's like skinny jeans vs cargo pants cool2.gif

Good wetsuits seal well and are hard to put on and take off. The thicker they are, the harder it gets. But like anything, it gets easier with practice biggrin.gif Or use wkKY jelly... brows.gif

Fleece lining helps a lot - there's an australian brand Probe which has a fantastic fleece-lined wetsuit. Turn it inside out and it dries in 1 hour so you can put on a nice warm suit for the next dive. Easy to slip on too.

I have not seen wool lined wetsuits before so I don't know how they are. As far as I could find, only Pinnacle (a NZ brand) makes them. Maybe it's not cost-effective to be adopted more widely.

If I were to dress according to my guide on my latest trip, I would have worn jeans and tshirt to dive laugh.gif

My cold tolerance has gotten a lot better now (used to be a complete pussy!) , but i continue to wear a thin wetsuit all the time for protection. Also bring or wear gloves for the same reason.

Winter diving in Sydney is interesting. It can be 8C air temp and 18C in the water. You actually feel warmer jumping into the water, and your spg also reads higher due to the tank warming up laugh.gif

You remember my sis trying to fit into the 7mm pinnacle suit in Bali last year? That one was supposedly with merino wool inside it. But the inner lining is still the same like normal wetsuit I guess. The wool is lined somewhere in the middle.

Talking about it, I still have the 7mm pinnacle up for sale, female, size xxs lol.

I wear full length wet suit to protect myself from exposure and most importantly jelly fish.... if water temp is warm then I use full length rash guard including long 'pants' .....

Hi Everyone!

Open waters newbie here! Actually I got my PADI license in April this year and after that I didn't had time to go for another diving trip...not only until last weekend, I went to Pulau Tenggol again....and the instructor was so good to quide me during the daytrips and after doing 6 dives....my bouyancy is perfect now. And I'm so into diving already! So, to continue diving, I really need to buy a mask, fins and a wet suit. Any recommendations?
