QUOTE(zstan @ Aug 30 2017, 02:38 PM) Finally did my SDI OW at Labuan. Day 1: 2-3 hours of briefing on various important diving topics and equipment assembly. Day 2 confined training straight away do at the sea which was just right at the door step. Shore entry all the way, but currents quite strong. Struggled to even stand straight properly Day 3 continued training at Pulau Papan, about 10 minutes boat ride away from Labuan. Ended the training with an open water dive. Not much coral reef around here so didn't get to see much. Visibility was good initially but became poor as more and more sand was being kicked around. Deepest dive was 14.4 metres. Instructor gave us one week to complete the theory questions Hopefully I will pass successfully. Goodluck Bro!

The things you did sounds quite scary. Not sure if all SDI course is as so.

think there are those cowboy type divers that will do green water diving off Port Dickson, with less than 2-3 m vis. definitely not my type of diving. rather just take a weekend off for proper dive trip

QUOTE(cacat99 @ Sep 1 2017, 11:15 AM) Want to ask the nearest dive site from kl? Maybe can have a day trip? There's only Lumut if you wanna do day trip. Or Port Klang. But there's no "dive center" operating there. Most of them will be thru contact or friend of friend where they have their own boats and tanks. Nearest and worth going is Tioman and Tenggol.

some mining lakes are poisonous, so it's very not good to dive inside it. usually heavy metals leached out, so better no try anything funny, unless trying to be the next Bruce Banner

Actually as a certified diver you dont need a guide, just a buddy. But it is good to get an orientation of the place first.
