Floating =/= water treading =/= swimming. at least not directly similar

Finally did my SDI OW at Labuan.
Day 1: 2-3 hours of briefing on various important diving topics and equipment assembly. Day 2 confined training straight away do at the sea which was just right at the door step. Shore entry all the way, but currents quite strong. Struggled to even stand straight properly Day 3 continued training at Pulau Papan, about 10 minutes boat ride away from Labuan. Ended the training with an open water dive. Not much coral reef around here so didn't get to see much. Visibility was good initially but became poor as more and more sand was being kicked around. Deepest dive was 14.4 metres. Instructor gave us one week to complete the theory questions Hopefully I will pass successfully. |

QUOTE(munkeyflo @ Aug 31 2017, 05:42 PM) Practice makes perfect. Just like everything else. bila mau datang LabuanHave fun! Take the opportunity to spend all your savings on diving since you live so near the dive sites QUOTE(KiraTomaru @ Sep 1 2017, 09:04 PM) out of curiosity is there any law saying you cant dive anywhere? i mean there are people who live far from the ocean and their nearest dive-able spots are like abandoned mining lakes at least in the US from what i heard. technically you can dive anywhere as long as there is someone very experienced with the dive sites guiding you otherwise it will be close to suicidal diving blindly. |

QUOTE(EvanSoon @ Sep 10 2017, 10:28 PM) Look for dive center's fb page. Quite a few has it what happens when the dive comp battery dies? have to send back factory to fix? :omg:Rechargeable but need recharge often or dive logs lost. Too troublesome for some. Nope. Only one i know that you can change battery yourself is Mares Puck Pro |

Just did my dive in Miri last week. Haven't been diving since I got my licence so I did a refresher course one day before for RM150.
My first dive went quite wrong. After diving for about 5 metres (used the mooring line to help me descent, not sure what happened but i suddenly just got pulled back up right to the surface Luckily the boat was nearby and I had no choice but to get back on. While I almost accepted the fact I have to wait for 1 hour before the rest of the crew came back, my DM popped back up and brought me down again. This time adding two more weights to make sure I will definitely sink. Which I did. However for my subsequent dives, my air ran out much quicker compared to the rest. I was thinking probably it's due to my noob skills but now thinking back, is it because I had too much weight on which wasted a lot of energy? 6 weights is really crazy lol. |

QUOTE(ghostshell @ Jun 8 2018, 09:44 AM) i like being slim and agile too...too many pocket is not a need for me... after the gst gone, the price like didnt diff much could it be you didnt release all the air in your bcd when u descent or u accidentally pump too much air into your bcd when at 5m depth? carry too much weight will need more energy to move thus consume more air, that is what i understand true. struggled a bit to keep my buoyancy neutral and hit 70 reaallly fast. llike always 10-15 minutes earlier before everybody. |

QUOTE(2387581 @ Jun 8 2018, 11:02 AM) Most likely you are still feeling nervous because you haven't dive for some time. You have a point. Will keep this in mind for my next dive When descend you don't kick, you fold your legs and tilt your body down (like a seahorse) so you see what is happening down there. At this time you should be blowing out more air than you are inhaling. Maybe you also didn't release all the air from your BCD. I had this problem too. I thought I released it all but in fact not. Try releasing from the front hose AND also reach down to pull that dump cord at the bottom of the BCD. There are much air being trapped cannot be released via the inflator hose. And then you just keep calm and breath like that is all the precious air you have left. |

QUOTE(ghostshell @ Jun 8 2018, 03:44 PM) descent u just need to breath out and release air in bcd , how come u need to swim toward underwater, could it be actually u are still floating up after 2m but u not notice it as u swim down and holding the line. once u stop swim and release line, nothing to hold on then float up maybe also more weight need pump more air into bcd, and if u kept up down up down will be pump release pump release, waste more air QUOTE(wKkaY @ Jun 8 2018, 04:32 PM) Your previous dive op might have had 3lb weights while the miri one has 2lb or 1kg weights. Ohhhh i thought all weights are standard If you were wearing a wetsuit in miri but not in the previous dive, that would be a factor too. Wet suit more tendency to float? Ya i didn't wear wet suit in my previous dive QUOTE(air_mood @ Jun 10 2018, 07:08 PM) More air in the body? haha |

QUOTE(wKkaY @ Jun 11 2018, 03:55 PM) 1. It's about as standard as the sizes of drinking cups... which is to say, not very. Design, manufacturing variances, wear and tear... only way to tell exactly is to weigh it with kitchen scales Ok. Have to accept that i'm fatter 2. Yes the neoprene material that wetsuits are made from, is a kind of foam rubber so it's floaty. 3. Body fat floats too. It's about 10% less dense than water. _________________________________________ Side note has anybody dived at Pulau Kapas? I have like 1.5 free days at KT and it seems like a quite nearby to the mainland and more practical vs trying to go to Redang. Rates are quite cheap too |

Hi all. Is this a good deal and reliable seller? I had thought about it for awhile to buy a dive comp, but don't feel like investing too much, since i'm not sure how frequent i will dive |
