If you didn't throw the SD sdcard cover which really required for warranty , you can call to sandisk and ask them.The sdcard cardboard cover is the only proof you bought the genius brand.
Which model of evo you bought ? There is no way 5 years become 6 months.
Did you bought evo 840 pr 750 with 3 years warranty and the CAsia falsely advertise 5 years ?

maybe there is something about the purchased ssd that we are not aware of, the most straight forward one being the actual source of samsung ssds from the seller. (e.g. local or parallel import) if it's a parallel import, it's very likely that it's not covered locally. samsung doesn't offer international warranty for their ssds afaik. if it's a valid local unit, you're relatively safe, but please don't buy from such a seller that fails to honor their responsibility anymore, even it's a damn good deal. it's pointless to keep supporting those which don't appreciate their customers.

by the way, lazada does have the official samsung store, http://www.lazada.com.my/shop-storage/sams...official-store/ and they sell ssds too. if the ssd was bought from that store, or any stores that stock samsung ssds from local official distributors/channels, a full warranty coverage shall apply.

there are several parties that you can contact to see if they can help:
1. local shops that help rma service with a fee like idealtech. however please make sure that it's not a parallel import first, because they might not be able to help if that's the case.
2. facebook, asking for a valid contact so that you can communicate better about the case, https://www.facebook.com/SamsungSSD/
3. contact local distributors, such as http://www.ambleaction.com.my/solid-state-drives/ to seek their help (there are others in https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/505086 but i'm not sure if they are still valid)
4. you can also contact samsung malaysia electronics (sme) directly. sme is a valid contact because it's stated in their warranty information, http://www.samsung.com/my/support/warranty/ that they are the official samsung representative here that honors warranty, as long as the ssd is a local retail unit. (there are other terms and conditions, so please check the link out)

for some reasons, as a norm, local shops honor warranty for the first year, the rest will need to contact local distributors, or manufacturers directly. in the case of samsung ssds, samsung always ask owners to contact the shop from which the ssd was bought first to initiate rma process.

finally, please choose a well-reputed seller that can actually honor warranty next time. if you cannot find one, go to the official store, and get the proof of purchase. always.

Bought this item. The seller is still stating 5 years warranty over there where as a matter of fact, they have replied me that they will only provide one year warranty from their end.
