The only reason I went Honda dashcam is for purely warranty purposes. IMO doesn’t make sense to spend 200k on a car but get your warranty screwed up especially for RS where the battery warranty is eight years, and so I want to keep things as official as possible so I have peace of mind.

QUOTE(Cavino @ Sep 20 2024, 11:06 AM)
I got 1....quality is nowhere near ddpai z50, very far away but actually still ok. Forget abt reading car plate, as long as can record accidents good enuf.

The function is bare minimum. The only thing I like about it is the casing for the wiring, DDPai and 70Mai has its wiring dangling if want to put the dashcam in the middle.
It is 50% more  expensive with a quarter of the function and video quality if DDPAI and 70Mai and the only thing going for it is the warranty assurance.

As a fire and forget dashcam, it is adequate tho. If you want to put it on tik tok, forget about it.

May I ask if your Honda dashcam connected to battery? My SA told me even if I install Honda dashcam they still connect to the cigarette charging slot...

Is it true?

Not true at all. Mine is tapped into the fuse, and that's really the only advantage you have when you install with Honda because it doesn't void your warranty at all even when tapped into the fuse to enable 24/7 monitoring.

Please send your uninformed SA this link: https://www.honda.com.my/withdreams/placing...video-recorder/

QUOTE
The DVR is always ready, and by that, we mean that it also has a 24/7 Standby Mode. The 24/7 Standby Mode functions like this: When your car is parked and the engine is switched off, the DVR goes into “standby mode”, where it is not recording everything when it’s parked. Instead, it only starts recording when an impact to your vehicle is detected, and the DVR springs into action to save the event into the memory card. This way, you won’t have hours and hours’ worth of unnecessary content on the DVR, and only events of interest are saved for your review. This feature can provide evidence for insurance claims on hit-and-runs, even when you’re not in the driver’s seat. Since it also doubles as a surveillance system, you can have peace of mind whenever you leave your Honda unattended.

For every Honda DVR installation, you get a three-year warranty* or 100,000 km mileage*, whichever comes first, for the accessory. The installation is available for all Honda models and it won’t affect your car warranty as it is done by a Honda Authorised Dealer.

Anyone has recommendations on cordless air compressor? I’m looking at Xiaomi Air pump 2. Price looks reasonable to me and the usage as well.
*
You’re better off with corded air compressor and it’s no worries of dead batteries when you ever need it. Cause if your car can’t start, is no good to get your tire pumped. Get the 70mai air
pump lite at shopee for rm 99.

I got all 3 models of corded 70mai air pump. Stored an emergency pump in every single one of my cars in case of punctured outside. Stored a heavy duty one at home to pump all cars. Especially useful for cars without spare tyre.

The ECO TP04 is the smallest and non-digital. Pump the slowest too. Advantage is, it is the smallest size, can put under the seat, compartment, etc very easily. Non digital means never worry about digital screen kaput. The gauge to tyre is screw type. I used this as emergency fire and forget pump, small and easily stored anywhere as it has no digital screen, so not afraid of heat if put inside sedan boot under very hot weather. No auto setting, not auto stop, all manual, thus can leave it in super hot weather and forget it until emergency. Less than RM100 without discount.

The Lite is the best balance for portable pump. Size is larger than Eco but also pump faster. Size is still ok to put into car and under the seat. The gauge head to tyre is screw type. Abt 110-120 without discount. My goto portable tyre pump that I put in cars for on the road emergency pump but due to digital screen that can be more susceptible to long term heat, I put under car seat, not car boot. Can set when to stop pumping when reach certain psi/kpa.

The TP01 is the most powerful and heavy duty among 70mai compressor. The size is also the biggest. Not that suitable to store in sedan but ok for SUV with rear boot storage. Definitely too big to store under seat. It is pretty heavy compared to the other 2 but also the fastest pump. I love the gauge head to tire, clip tyre, easy to plug to tyre pin and disengage. I usually leave this at home as my to go to periodic tyre pump for all my cars. can set when to stop pumping when reach certain psi/kpa. Heavy duty means, I can pump all my cars' tyres continuously in 1 go without it overheating unlike the lite and eco. Air flow the fastest.

Also, there are limited choices to replace the wiper for CRV.

Thank you. Is the default password 12345678? My SA did not tell me how to setup lol.

So far both my car using this default codes, as no one change it before.

Otherwise you can check your recorder screen, should have two buttons, either one you click, the screen will show the default code as 12345678

My SA sent me with quotation with Honda dash cam but at the same time, they quote me optionally with 70mai dash cam...

thinking about to go with 70mai instead of the original dashcam, ask them to install A810 and pay the difference
*
Now they allow to choose the brand of dash cam?? So nice, my time only got one option, they call it house brand. Quality poor when raining or at night, can't see the plate number

No lar...these dashcam normally still offered by SA, side income maybe/maybe not split with SC but not Honda meaning officially can still void warranty if caught but if SC no report when claiming related warranty then no issue. The Honda sub-par dashcam still the only official WARRANTY garanteed dashcam.

It is from the Honda dealer's quotation with Honda letterhead that's why I was quite curious if they allow outside dashcam?

Apparently, like what Cavino mentioned, it's the dealer or SA's 3rd party panel installer who will do the installation. definitely not from Honda... Gotta think twice now...

70mai A810 w/ USB-C or Honda official dashcam. I haven't decided yet, will install tint and let it dry for a week or two.

The last time mine also quoted but turned out plug into 12V accs plug, not hardwire, so no warranty void if take. If I did not ask, the SA no tell the difference...

Personally I no want any future warranty headache (most likely not an issue) and did not like cable plug in on 12V plug permanently, so I opted for Honda dashcam. Almost featureless compared with 3rd party just basic front and rear vide capture. Actually the video quite clear lar. Just very fast moving car flash pass cannot see plate, if car slower in direct front and rear, can still see clearly.

So for accident insurance purpose (to prove who is right and wrong), it served it's purpose. It cannot record 24 hours like 3rd party dashcam but personally even with my DDPAI in other cars, I activate camera only if collision during parking mode to avoid battery drain, same as Honda Dashcam default and only parking mode.

A bit expensive given the functionless but that's given as it is official dashcam. The cabling casing is definitely a plus vs 3d party wire dangling (no cable cover). I'm quite ok with it given I used it for fire and forget emergency view only. If you want to do Tik Tok, then have to use 3rd party feature rich and, better night recording and 4K high resolution, otherwise for fire and forget, it served it's purpose.

Last time the same for Tint offered by SC, same game, u do outside warranty void. But pump official tint price at SC with hefty profit margin. No issues at all install tint outside for warranty, just SA games to scare customer

Ya, true but tint at most only void windows motor (which we can afford voiding if seriously it really comes to that (got happened to 1 person in fb post)) but anything to do with electrical and system warranty, the cost of warranty voiding is way way higher and much more complex.

On the other hand, still have not heard of any case with dashcam wiring voiding warranty tho...
