The hype is in and with China leading on EV car purchase with cheaper more affordable pricing, it will shift.

But our protectionist gov will wait for National Cars to come up with something thus no affordable EV in near term.

Unless you got 2 cars at home, I would not get an EV as my only car. Long distance charging infrastructure not in place. Also like UK now, it might overburden the electricity grid and now they have problem suppling power to expand the charging points. So many hidden infrastructure problems needs to be solved before EV really become a mass production ride locally.

I'm actually also looking at Atto 3 now but considering long term investment, BYD although super strong now, they are not here locally like Honda and Toyota. Still go thru 3rd party aka Sime Darby.

What attract me is the less maintenance thing (ICE has 2000 parts in engine, EV 20 for example) but I still have doubt on the longevity of BYD and other local Chinese brand vs Honda/Toyota. With high car prices vs our income ratio nowadays, we cannot follow the exact trend of other countries, they can change car on avg, every 5 years. We..mostly 10 to 15 years. So their so-called batteries lasting the lifetime of the car...their expected lifetime can be shorten to less than 10...our 20 kuah.

Just curious, saw many ppl saying can easily install EV charger at car porch

Sorry for asking stupid question:

My house now got one power point at car porch provide by deceloper las time, so can use it for the charger?

Some say can not and must pull new cable (7mm or 10mm) from DB box in store room all the way to car porch.

Other say no need can just use back the normal power point for the EV charger, so maybe need 8 hours to fully charge a car like BYD Atto.

So how does it work actually? Anyone can enlighten? My contractor said the cable provide by developer usually is 4mm la

From my understanding, might be wrong, the normal wall plug can also charge EV but

"A 3-pin domestic socket is not designed for continuous high-power usage, so most manufacturers recommend three-pin EV charging only in emergencies – and it's because of safety reasons." excerpt from RAC UK website.

Meaning it can be used but for safety reason, try not to use that for daily charge.

Our 13a plug using the normal wire can provide max 3Kw, but if go max for this all the time, it might overheat one of these days. Can charge but not recommended for long term due to safety reason.

If you already decided to invest in EV, you may as well consider pulling a thicker cable (have to for consistent higher current) and invest in a 7K-22Kw fast charger. In the market normally the base unit is about 3 to 5K in price. If include installation, should be 4 to 6k. Not sure about the quality...just checking our locally available chargers online when I checking out EV details. So just budget an extra 5 to 6K when you decide to buy an EV.
*
Thanks, think will not switch to EV since new cable is required for the charger. Not going to hack my house again, as just done with renovation, lol

Installed at UH accessories shop in Setapak for RM450.00 on first week after gotten the car,, so far satisfied with the thing,, only I never compare it with the one from Honda,, but I believe the one that I installed a bit heavy
*
Thanks for reply, think I might install outside also, as the OEM quote by SC is 1.2k.

Did you install modulo body kit as well? Is ABS better than PU?

i'm car nerd so i dun think i can DIY myself, and i'm afraid to install at workshop outside later warranty issue. for  other think i guess can get at aftermarket. thinking whether the coating & tinted from honda whether worth or not.
*
I only let Honda to do tinting and install front and rear dash cams, since both are close to the honda sensing camera. Of course the eco tint can't compare to Vkool or 3m, but I am satisfying with its heat resistant.

Those accessories like body kit or stepping board are just for comestic changes so can do at outside, it won't affect warranty as long as you don't touch on any electrical components. But if you change rim then might affect your warranty on parts relate to wheel.

For coating I will do at subang next week. My agent also privately told me better do at outside. If you have budget, can do PPF.

Actually dash cam no need to be done by Honda anyway. What dash can you’re using? Honda brand DVR?

Only some overly professional installer hide the cable of the dashcam inside the Honda sensing camera module cover that going to cause an issue. I just leave the cable outside and away from Honda sensing cover. I’m using 70Mai A800S btw.
*
For ease of mind only, haha.

But they hide all cable very well for both front and rear can.
Don't know what brand they give me, but same as the one on Honda Malaysia YouTube. Quality still acceptable.

Did you install modulo bodykit and running board for your car at accessories shop? If yes then what is the material for the body kit? PU, PP or ABS?

I think as long as your car mileage is within 5-8km, and your agent give you the Evo tint warranty card and certificate, then should be fine la.

Haven’t install modulo bodykit so not sure about the material they use. But judging at RM 599 you may not able to tell the different between the original ones.
*
Found one shop in Sri kembangan, quote RM1200 for full package, from door visor, led side step, running board, and Modulo kit. But the modulo is in ABS. Running board is not from OEM but quality is ok as he never receive any complaint

While another shop is in Kajang, provide OEM running board (RM550) and Modulo kit in PU(RM600), he said PU is heavier than AbS but tougher and can stand for very minor crash, same material use by Honda original body kit.

I am more keen to go for second shop in Kajang but how could I tell whether the body kit is PU or ABS? Lol

he quoted me Vkool tinted + glass coating + body coating RM3k....not sure what the quality yet.

You should have the Honda brochure for genuine accessories right?

I checked back the honda brochure, "honda protection package" for full coating already cost RM3007

My eco tint is also under Vkool but from Japan so it is named as "Eco Tint" by Honda, I choose the "Ray Barrier 4+" cost 1666.

So you need to confirm with your agent, is he going to give you tinting and coating under genuine Honda accessories?

I also ask my agent to upgrade my car plate to crystal type for free, haha. Although not really legal but it won't turn yellowish later.

yes i've checked the official price from honda website, thats why i think the quoted me the price is most probably 3rd party workshop. i haven go in details what type of vkool tint, what type of coating he offer as i haven sign any documents yet. but if i do it outside myself and the price is similar or cheaper by 10or 20%, i would rather go thru this agent, same my time & hassle. but yea problem is i dunno yet what quality he offers me such as what vkool tint was that lol.
*
If I am you I will sure ask for every details, haha. That is why my agent some time also pending because of my questionssss...

But anyway, agreed that you can save a lot of time if he can do these these for you before handover the car. My one until this sat only got time to be sent for coating, some more need 5 hours for polish and coat.

the led side step wont touch the wiring?
yes i'll take time to query him tomorrow before signing...any freebies that might possible gotten from SA apart from RFID, umbrella, full tank etc?
*
Didn't check whether the side step will touched wire or not, as I more keen to get PU bodykit and OEM running board.

My SA give me umbrella, full tank petrol, and upgrade the car plate material only.

crv no auto close side mirror when door locked?????

It doesn't work like city once lock the car mirror will autofold.

For CRV need to tap two times on door handle whenever you leave the car, first time is to lock the door, second time is to fold the mirror

alamak  sad.gif then if walk away lock then the side mirror cannot fold liao lo lol

and also the walk away lock seems buggy, sometimes lock sometimes didnt....

izit need to wait everyone closed their door, then the 1 with the key only can walk away?
*
Already drive for a mth, so far never use the walk away lock feature. Always lock the car manually and ensure mirrors are fold off before I leave.

hehe actually the car is my wife drive. previously driving her family car so now bought her own car. i still driving my 2014 city... just playing around with new feature since my city, though is high spec, but apa pun tak ada lol.
*
It is phasing out model so can't expect much lo. Even honda sensing also less sensitive compare to civic v.

To me the only good thing is the high ground clearance, super easy to throw my son on the car seat, haha, the door size also big enough.

Actually this Honda CRV Honda Sensing is safer with the RADAR sensor as compared to Civic FE no longer comes with RADAR hence relying purely with the front camera only.
*
I see, now only know that the civic fully rely on its camera.

But I feel like the civic ACC is smoother, it won't keep accelerate and brake like crv, more "gentle"

Guys, need some opinions. Currently I am already having a CRV G5 2019, the pre-facelifted model. I like the new gen G6 so much. But will it be silly to change from G5 to G6?

I told a few friends about this thought, they were like…. “huh? U want to change from CRV to CRV?”
*
Easy, let those friends to make decision for you, if this is the life you want.
