Seriously considered CX-8 too but it's too long and hard to park in Georgetown street parking lots.
Same thought. Plus it's a bit too long in the tooth whereas CRV is a new design.

Diesel are generally reliable. So what's the issue with this one?
*
Car is not the problem. The problem is the price of the diesel itself. After this no more subsidy for diesel.

Seriously considered CX-8 too but it's too long and hard to park in Georgetown street parking lots. The middle row being captain seats is also a huge disadvantage because we have a mid-sized dog that enjoys some space in the 2nd row bench, so it'll be hard to fit her in a captain chair.

And if I get a CX-5/CX-8 I'll get minimum 2.5NA and ideally 2.5T, but their fuel consumption is really crazy. I'm not worried about the money but it's the guzzling dinosaur juice that wife and I are conscious about. Laugh all you guys want... nod.gif
*
Myself cancelled my CRV RS booking and take the CX-8 2.5T. Yes the fuel consumption is little bit higher but engine response is much better. Driving feeling felt like is CX-8 is better than CRV.

But overall still fell sad did not get my CRV. But the waiting time is too long and wifey really love the Mazda.

Bro…. Why you do this to me hahaha. My SA just told me June allocation for RS only ONE for each Penang branch wtf!! There’s more than five people in front of me in the queue also waiting. Wow… if like that really cannot.

How long did you wait for CX-8, if I may ask?

10 days only including loan submission.( about 3 days for loan process). CX-8 I think is the same price as CRV although the CX-8 is little more expensive than CRV but it come with free service + part.

That's crazy fast. I may need to seriously reconsider my options. Are you bothered by the extremely small infotainment screen and the low-res 360º camera on your CX-8?

I suddenly recall Mazda have the 2.2D.... but its known for some issues and since no more diesel subsidies, ya good luck with that

For waiting period there's really nothing can be done about it especially when it comes to a popular brand like Honda or Toyota, the demand is always there

Though I'm surprised the hybrid also need to wait that long because my impression was the hybrid is the least popular spec in the line up. Maybe they underestimate the demand for it hence the production was cut down
*
If you were to say this a month or two after launch I'd understand but this is half a year after launch and they still havent got the production numbers right..? I think there's something else..rather than cut down production i think there's long lead time of some parts..and they still dont wanna ramp up import of those parts.

Overall happy with the CX8.Engine pick up much better than the CRV or my civic fc but then the fuel consumption is higher.

Not bothered by the infotainment screen. Only problem if using android auto need to use wire connection, only apple carplay is wireless. Map also not pre-installed like Honda. The infotainment also need sometime to be familiar as it is using toggle and button(touchscreen is disabled when the car is moving)

360 camera is much better in the CRV but for me the CX8 camera is just enough to get by.

Additionally

Plus point for CX8 compared to CRV
- large size
- leather seat + interior more premium than CRV

Negative point
-I think the CX8 is boring as all the mazda look identical.
-CRV has more gadget and latest technology. Also CRV looks more Garang.

Personally, I am willing to wait for 3 month for the CRV but then my Civic start giving problem and my wife like the mazda so much. After all delibiration due to shorter waiting time and to make wifey happy proceed with CX8.

Thanks man for your input. For now I'll hold strong with my CR-V e:HEV RS since after all only just booked, will see how things go after 2–3 months and see if I need to reevaluate.

Yeah bro... it's crazy. See the Reddit post I posted above your post. Lots of people all over the country waiting for the RS e:HEV but it looks like HM is having some supply chain issues.

I think of it as a blessing in disguise, let them iron out the early batch issues also rclxms.gif

For 2024 Honda Malaysia only delivered 3900++ unit of CRV all variance

During launching, they announce 5000 booking, meaning still got people booking since day one,, still didnt receives their car

This is data from data.gov.my as of 30 Apr 24

From the data we can assume that Melaka production line ABLE to produce up to 14k of CRV / year or 1200 / month, max on 2018,, during G5 first batch
At that year civic ketam is also in high demand, but they manage to delivered

For this year 4 months data is at 3900 car delivered, average 1000 car per month

Something happen somewhere, either parts shortage as per my SA told me in April or something else, because only RS affected

Based on the website, Honda delivered 8000 both City and HRV from Jan-Apr,, probabaly they concentrate all their source to that line, we dont know

Just bersabar my fellow forumer,, if cannot wait like my wife,, change variance or go other brand mega_shok.gif

Haha wow thanks bro for your insight. I’ll continue to wait for now but if 3 months no news I’m thinking to upgrade to European brands already maybe a used X4 or new XC60 brows.gif

dont believe CX8 pick up can be better than Civic FC, especially if it is the 1.5 turbo mill.
FC is lighter and very powerful, while CX8 is so damn heavy.
CX 8 0-100 sure more than 10 seconds while FC maybe 7-8 sec.

Maybe he meant FC 1.8?

FE definitely no chance to be slower than cx8, last week baru give a lesson to a cx8 2.5 on lekas. If he drive 2.5T or 2.2 diesel turbo I might give face. But I was rushing so give full throttle.

If CRV1.5T, then first 5 seconds I think cx8 got chance, after crv tubro lag pass and speed high enough with max torque continue to be delivered, I think crv can say soyonara to cx8 btw 140-180. If wan continue, then go all the way up to over 200 and see who got bigger balls, my wife gen 5 can go 213

Can do simple google search.civic fc tcp 0-100km/h is 8.2 sec while mazda cx8 2.5T is 7.7 seconds. Also its just my honest opinion. U should test drive then can compare by yourself.

Agreed about the Cx8 being heavy as it takes longer to brake. Handling of course The Civic will won. As about top speed the max I go is 150-160 on both civic and Cx8(and very rarely) usually I go 120km/h max. I am just an old uncle do not dare to go until 200km/h.

If is 2.5T than is possible to outbeat civic 1.5t on acceleration. But anyway it is harder to control such huge car on high speed.

How is the fuel consumption in terms of KM/Litre? I drive my uncle non turbo 2.5, even drive with 120kmh only can hit 9km/litre on highway. During jam I think it drop to 7 or 8km/L.

Wow 9-10km/L for highway driving is crazy. If 100% city driving how bad would it be? And turbo even worse?
