Maybank analysis is incorrect. The contract sum value is much more.

Even Hong Leong says between rm1bil to rm1.5bil.

What's the actual amount likely to be closer to then?

Latest EPC project they won is Hess Ph4a NMB project consists of 3 wellhead platforms. Fabrication should start in July/Aug when the steel start to arrive at site. That should give continuous work to some of their team.

Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering’s unit secures contract for Jerun development project, offshore Sarawak

KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 — Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd’s (MHB) wholly-owned subsidiary, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd (MMHE) has secured a contract from SapuraOMV Upstream (Sarawak) Inc, valued at RM1 billion.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, it said the contract was awarded on March 19, 2021 for the provision of engineering, procurement, construction, transportation & installation and hook-up & commissioning services (EPCIC) for the SK408W Jerun Development Project, offshore Sarawak.

Duration for the contract is 40 months where the company would undertake the construction of a 15,000-metric tonne (MT) topside, 10,000 MT jacket and 5,000 MT piles of a Central Processing Platform (CPP).

The contract is expected to contribute positively to the earnings and net assets per share of MHB for the financial years ending December 31, 2021 onwards until the expiry of the contract. — Bernama

Will most likely partner with Technip Energies.

Never heard about them.
Definitely not the same as SBM.

SBM, MTC, Bumi Armada, MISC, Modec (Japan company) are owners of FPSO's and provide turret solutions.
SBM and Armada does engineering out of KL also, but specific for floating structure.

Looks like they do provide engineering and also some vendor scopes.

They are totally not like SBM. SBM is EPCIC of FPSO, Owner of FPSO and also do O&M for FPSO.

Kavin is like Engineering consultant firm. Kavin have approach me before for HAZID/HAZOP. But I can't remember during my time at Bumi Armada or Carigali Hess. sweat.gif

With regards to FPSO, does anyone know why companies choose to lay up FPSO instead of scrapping or selling off? For example, Bumi Armada has laid off FPSO Claire since 2016. I'm pretty sure it costs them money. What's the incentive for them in this regards?

Incredible stuff. I imagine a lot of people must be having sleepless nights now - probably a long incident investigation and examinations ahead.

I wonder what the insurers are gonna say about this.

Even more challenging is that all the physical evidence is under the sea - so investigations will require vessel mob, dive crew/ROV.

Not to mention the project schedule - having to inspect and approve another rig, procure materials, equipment prep etc. Do drillers usually have a backup rig for campaigns?

Also, is it possible to mobilize another rig and drill nearby while salvage / investigations are ongoing?

My god, I guess this is what you call a Herculean task.
