wow indeed. good to know everyone is safe. but definitely some heads will roll from the marine and geo services.

that is some serious punch through. used to hear back in the 90's in malaysia waters a few riggs having these issues and even got their legs cut off and the rigs doomed to the scrap yards.

These kind of accident make me reluctant to work offshore back. My last offshore was 3 years ago then joined shipyard industry. Due to covid, lay off and stuff, join back oil & gas company early this year.

Cons nowadays, thanks to covid, need to offshore stay minimum 56 days, plus mandatory 14 days quarantine. My mutual friends had this Baram bridge accident last year. Now come this Naga 7 incident. Hopefully no more in future

Site accidents could never go away. We just need to minimise the accidents. Actually oil&gas industry has amongst the highest safety standards compare with other industries. There are more fatalities on onshore construction sites like buildings and highways (just look at the SUKE’s infamous safety records).

surface yes, but below surface. who knows if that part of the waters is used a shipping lanes. beside i think there will be a salvage operation, that's a whole heap of scarp to be turned in to monies for someone. something like what happened to Troll Solution at mexico.

just my opinion btw, im not a marine/salvage expert. biggrin.gif

Pray that they had carried out SI at the JU rig leg locations and confirmed that the soil strata could withstand the loads from the rig. sweat.gif

Any opportunity for other staff working under operators in onshore refinery/Lng/terminal or offshore operations to receive covid vaccines at 1 go?
