Weird old news

"March 9, 2017 - 140 of 176 North Korean workers in Sarawak without work permit"

Sarawakian dont mind North Koreans who were mainly involved in the construction and mining sectors.

But sarawakians willing to ban oil and gas workers from other malaysian states?

Sarawak can hire Eskimos to work in Sarawak if they want. Malaysia is ironic, one country but different immigration laws for Malaya and its Borneo “associates “.

As Catalonia/Ukraine have different language and culture to the rest of Spain/Russia so Sarawak have different culture and language to the rest of Malaysia.

Crimea went back to Russia because they speak Russian unlike the rest of Ukraine. Majority in California speaks Spanish so there are now serious talks on separating from USA. My point is society will naturally be divided according to their respective language. Whats going on between Sarawak and the west is a natural phenomenon.

It is what it is and not about oil/gas in Sarawak

Well, the peoples from North Korea entering Sarawak because one of the company having a big shot partner from Peninsular doing a business in Sarawak and they try to cut short things around, not only in Bau, happening in Bintulu too.

I dont want to tell much due to sensitivity, how I know? One of my family member is the Immigration Officer hehe.

So I malaslah maok drag this Immigration things as enshrined in 18/20 matters, and other things too. I kepak maok deal with this politic actually. So I better mind my own things jak lah. Hehe.

All are quiet now about the North Koreans working in Sarawak.

PDA was a Parliament act, enshrined as the country’s executive order.

We can all agree to disagree. There is no need to be sarcastic to prove a point. I don't think you need to be schooled on the Malaysia Agreement. Sabah Sarawak joined the federation as an equal partner, not just a member of the state hence they retain autonomy on few matters, such as Immigration.

Yes you may argue that the PDA is passed by the Parliament and Sarawak MPs at that time voted for it and they receive royalties from the oil proceeds which is risk free. However, can you say that the wealth distribution between Malaya and Sabah/Sarawak been equal since? If not because of the Sabah/Sarawakian sentiments rising during the late Tok Nan's time, development funds would not pour in into the state. That, is their point of contention.

It is also not helping that the Malayans/Sabah/Sarawakians composition in the NOC has been lopsided, more so during the retrenchment period in '15/'16. You don't need to reside in Sabah/Sarawak to know that their infrastructure is 20 years behind Malaya in general.

Put yourself in their shoe, have some empathy on where they are coming from. Not just banking on the issue of illegal immigrants and the PDA.

Usually those that complain about Sabah/Sarawak rights to hire Sabahan/Sarawakian are the same gangs which justify Petronas’s hiring policy on non-bumi, Petronas implementation of bumi content requirement by saying, you are in Malaysia you have to prioritize Malay.

Hi all,

I got a called from headhunter. Ask if I'm interested working for Junior Commissioning Engineer.

I'll be mobilized on the Ghorashal Gas Fired Power Plant project in Bangladesh.

Anyone working on this project currently ? Mind to share the working environment in Bangladesh ?

Its either a gas fired power plant or coal fired power plant. Nothing to do with O&G downstream.

Working style? Construction environment. If you want to learn a full fledge EPCC project this is where you want to learn your trade.

You are young. Go for it. Dont expect to get experience at the comfort of a couch under a full blast of aircond.

Site environment is tough like hell. But the experience is golden.

Dont be too weak. Man up. I am sure you can do it.

Commissioning fags command a good salary, doesnt matter if you in a power industry or O&G.

Jobscope of commissioning? Ask the headhunter to brief you the JD.

If you read the whole thread of O&G job careers discussion (previous older thread) there are some forummers discuss about commissioning scope. Almost similar to power plant too.

Bangladesh is in dire need to construct all related power infra as their middle class citizens are blooming. Petrobangla, their state NOC also in plan to construct LNG regas terminal to feed all those gas fired power plants.

Expect some shit hole environment. Hahahahaha.

But heyyy give it a try.
