UMW Naga 8 receives extension until mid-2020

MALAYSIA: It is understood jackup UMW Naga 8 will get its contract extended by Hess Malaysia to continue working in the North Malay Basin, offshore Peninsular Malaysia.
It was earlier reported Hess was seeking Petronas' approval to continue its drilling campaign using the jackup and the rig's charter will be extended for two years until mid-2020. The unit is currently firmly chartered until around May 2018, excluding a one-year option. In third quarter 2017, Hess had issued a survey for a jackup to commence by June 2018 a two-part work scope, covering three deep wells under Part 1 and two separate campaigns of four and five wells each under Part 2. The duration, over about two years, would include the operator's HPHT requirement on the North Malay Basin Full Field Development's Phase 1B drilling campaign off Peninsular Malaysia.

Maybe another NAGA rigs secure that contract. As you know, MPM clearly told drilling contractors, priority will be given to local company first before open to International rig contractors. Although in some cases they hired international rig contractor, because day-rate very low, less than USD50,000/day

Quote from UMW (Velesto Energy):-

For its seven jack-up drilling rigs, the company achieved about 95% utilisation rate in the third and fourth quarters of last year.

“Currently, five of the seven rigs are under contract serving multiple oil and gas operators, representing 71% utilisation rate, while we expect to secure contracts for the other two rigs by early July. Therefore, we believe we are going to do slightly better this year,” he said.

I'm just curious, O&G especially on fabricator side business still slow? I looked at an opportunity at MMHE at the start of the year, but I think they decided to not hire anyone for that position.

Hello sifus, just to clear something. inside plant (oil gas/power plant), maintenance of safety valve/relief valve, shall fall under which department? mechanical or instrument?

From what i understand, it should fall under mechanical dept, but i have encountered case where instrument team (engineering consultant) taking care of the specification stuff.

Hi otai-otai! Hope everyone is doing well with the recent bump on oil price.

Anyway I would like to find out what are the main companies currently providing production enhancement related services in Malaysia, such as flow assurance and well stimulation other than Deleum, Uzma and Scomi. And what does the term 'well pumping' mean actually? The info I found online is rather vague..nothing specific. It seems like it could be any form from coiled tubing to stimulation vessel to chemical injection skid so I am confused..correct me if I am wrong. Really appreciate if anyone here will be able to share some input! Thanks!

Sapura recently won the EPC of Penaga CPP floatover, first floatover fabrication for the company. The fabricator is going to be very busy very soon.

Malaysian yards my friend...always first to slow down and last to speed up. If u see yards in singapore (keppel), they barely can keep up with the work they have. FPSOs conversion/construction is like a bee line there. Platforms u dont need to talk already. I wish i can go work spore.....haihhh

MMHE hiring people....but all business development positions...hahaha....Need to find new projects for the company maa, whereby in Spore projects will come to yards.

Keppel also laying off manyyyyy workers last 2 years. Now they also looking at kind of JV things to secured more projects.

What I know before, KFELS gives a very low rate for berthing area (rig warm/cold stack) but need to use them when want to reactivate the rig which they will charge BOOM amounts.

How many UMW/Velesto rig that is not working now???

UMW Naga 5 moving to two new exploration wells offshore Sabah

MALAYSIA: Jackup UMW Naga 5 is being towed to new well locations for Repsol offshore Sabah by vessels JM Abadi and JM Tabah, according to the Marine Department of Sabah.

Once ready, the rig is set to drill Realgar East 1 and Axinit 1 on Block SB 309 for the operator. The work is expected to take between 30 and 50 days. Before this, the rig had been working on the Kinabalu PSC. Repsol Malaysia has chartered the unit for one year plus a one-year option that should keep it busy until around September 2018 at the earliest.

Just wondering, do banks still have that prejudice against people in the oil and gas sector, when it comes to loans and mortgage applications ?
I previously heard about this during the downturn but not lately.

Last time, only few non favorite banks did that.

Most of the banks, business as usual.

Depending on your credit report.
