Hi otai-otai! Hope everyone is doing well with the recent bump on oil price.

Anyway I would like to find out what are the main companies currently providing production enhancement related services in Malaysia, such as flow assurance and well stimulation other than Deleum, Uzma and Scomi. And what does the term 'well pumping' mean actually? The info I found online is rather vague..nothing specific. It seems like it could be any form from coiled tubing to stimulation vessel to chemical injection skid so I am confused..correct me if I am wrong. Really appreciate if anyone here will be able to share some input! Thanks!

Yeah I'm a chem eng grad
I wanna go into control because.... From what I see, most of those senior chem eng in my company now ( which accounts for almost 50% of the work force) didn't even get to use what we learnt.... Most of my friends too... Very very few are working for design company, most of the chem eng ended up taking control roles, or heat and mass transfer roles, waste treatment or even electronics manufacturing
Being a chem eng grad, I have to agree we are jack of all and master of none. Now after start working, I decided to specialize in process and control

The traditional OnG hydrocarbon separation shit is dying I agree, so I wanna pick up some skills that can be use across the engineering field and control / automation seems to be a good one. I'll probably do a PhD in electronic manufacturing / control related thesis down the road and switch path completely 😂

That is also part of the reason I did not accept inpex's offer and work for the chemical company now, but I still don't know where will I go next, probably back to OnG with an automation cert, or something else hahahahaha

Hi, just wondering what did you mean by the traditional oil and gas hydrocarbon separation is dying? My experience covers mostly upstream only so I have very little exposure in the other segment of the industry. Just curious how things are going in the midstream/downstream area and see where can I venture into.

Thanks.

I probably have less experience than you in the OnG industry in a whole 😂😂

I've only worked for worley Parsons for 2 years after my bachelor

And I just graduated my master not long ago

But from what I can see, you only need a handful of operators to run a massive LNG train, you need even less chemical engineers, and universities are churning out too much of em a huge chunk ended up working as operators anyway, my friend being one of them Auckland grad, pretty good and prestige school in the NZ, ended up as an operator

I just decided to diversify my skill because most of the chem eng only knows about hydrocarbon ( because that's what the schools teach majority of the time), I'm lucky enough to have done a few water treatment projects with the senior engineers and now I'm working in a polymer plant

Hydrocarbon processing plants, really, limited positions with too many applicants

Chem eng's job prospect is still not bad, just not in hydrocarbon

Thanks for your insight. No worries, we learn new things everyday don't we..perspective from someone who has been there done that is always valuable.

I did chem eng too and yeah ended up doing something irrelevant. It's actually a bit late for me but I'm still trying to figure out what else I can do
