after 2 years of hardcore playing, my ps2 eventually died. the problem is the console cannot read the disc anymore. initially, i found a tactic that was press the ON button while pressing hard on the console's center cover and it sure would read but now this cannot works anymore no matter how hard or any position i pressed.

pls help!...any idea how to make it read again without sending it to shop.

is this ths so-called 'Sony Timer' in which any sony products will die after the warranty. i used to have a sony hifi and it really died after 2 years ?????

Hi all, newbie here. Want to ask a question about component cable. Can we use component cable to connect PS2 to VIERA Plasma tv since it has same port to LCD tv?

What do you mean by compatible? For PS2 the commonly used cables are composite (yellow), s-video and component (red, green & blue). If you are using anything other than that please list.

I do believe all Viera plasma have component input, so it shouldn't be any problem using that.

I tried it last nite but only hear the sound with no picture at all. Any idea why this happened? Is there any settings I have to change at my tv/PS2?

Make sure the green is properly connected. Don't think you'd need to change any settings if it worked on other displays before unless the console is reset to display RGB instead of component. You can use composite to get into the menu and check from there if that's the case.

i did tried to push that button manually using a stick without closing the lid and infact there are 2 more in the front and have to be push simultaneously to made the disc run. but the disc spinned awhile and then stopped with no disc ....]
so waht happen to your ps2 then?

I know this sounds outdated, but i'm looking forward to get me a PS2 console by these few months, and my concern is it decent enough to play PS2 on a HDTV? The main issue being the display...since it's meant for a CRT does the graphics affect a lot? Getting a component cable would improve the graphics...but is it worth it? I'm currently stuck on a tight budget...and PS2 games has more variety compared to the next-gen ones... So there's a lot to ponder on...opinions please. rclxub.gif

Some HDTVs rescale better than the others, so it depends on your HDTV. In regards to whether to get component or not, I think it's a must. It doesn't solve the image stretching problems but the colour accuracy will be improved by miles over composite and kilometers over S-Video.
