I m confused a bit with ICOCA + HARUKA and Kansai One Pass.

If I'm get the Kansai One Pass, can I get Haruka discounted rate from KIX to Kyoto?
Or I should stick to ICOCA + HARUKA option?

Is it cheaper to buy single journey from KIX to Kyoto or return journey? But return journey I will go Osaka first before heading back to KIX.

Need the cheapest option to commute around the station. And Kansai one pass can only get it in KIX Airport?
*
my previous trip i used kansai one pass or kansai west pass...can't really remember (can only remember i bought it for 2000yen for a 1-day pass), but it can be used on haruka express and it's cheaper compared to normal haruka fare. After you reach kyoto etc, you can use the pass for unlimited train rides within 1-3 days depending on which one you bought

kansai area pass is 4500 yen for two days, u get to ride Haruka limited express which cost about 1700 yen one way, and unlimited bus and JR train for two days.

Thru pass cost 4000 yen for two days but it doesnt allow u to ride Haruka express, only buses and metro (not JR line).

ICOCA + Haruka cost 4200 yen for round trip KIX-Osaka, so u get round trip of Haruka express worth roughly 3000 yen and a pre-loaded 1500 yen ICOCA IC. its not unlimited, u ride until 1500 yen finished then u go top up again. when u return the ICOCA IC u get bak 500 yen meaning it cost only 3700 yen for round trip Haruka express and a 1500 yen worth of ride.

kansai area pass is worth it if u ride more than 3000 yen worth of buses and JR line in two days which seems to be a lot even for Tokyo, thru pass definitely not worth it, and ICOCA + Haruka is by far the best among these three.

thanks for the quick response !

i checked back my 2013 itinerary...i did purchase kansai area pass 1-day for 2000yen, used it for kix - kyoto haruka express...then use it on unlimited bus and JR train for 1 day. At that time, was icoca + haruka option (with haruka express return trip to kix up to 14 days) available already ?.

i guess for my next kansai trip i will opt for I+H

yeap kansai area pass got 1 day, i use 2 day as example coz thru pass only start from 2 days.
the roundtrip was always 14 days, well technically the ICOCA IC will never expired, the only worry is Haruka express if u travel more than 14 days.

another option is, buy kansai area pass 1 day for ur first day, then ur remaining days just buy ICOCA if u travel more than 14 days. I + H is only worth it if u purchase round trip, single trip u only save like 100 yen.

also if ur location is kyoto, just get kansai area pass as u will hardly use any subway. the bus day pass is cheaper for kyoto compared to all these, its only 500 yen per day

Yes not cheap and that is the standard bus fare from KIX to Kyoto. But due to arrival time, I have no choice. ANd yeah, i dont mind paying anyway. But if I can use Haruka Express, that will be better.

If im not mistaken, Haruka Express last train is at 10.15/30/45pm. So roughly I only have 1 hour to clear immigration, exchange ticket. Which is i dont think it's possible laugh.gif

last train from kansai airport to kyoto is 11.09pm, u can definitely make it. immigration there very fast provided u fill ur custom declaration form correctly on flight so u dun waste time

edit: my bad, its to osaka and then u transfer to special rapid service, total cost 1880yen till kyoto. straight to kyoto is 10.16pm, if u can run u can definitely make it

Guys, need a clarification on hotel charges. My friend told me that staying in a hotel, we will be charged per person instead of room. But, googling shows charges are based on room. But Im not sure from google there, as an example RM300 is actually the price of a room or referring to per person?
