Any modem+router all in one model?
*
Yes, but if your installation comes with a separate modem, it would be better to use a separate router in conjunction with the modem that is provided.

I have a question pertaining to C3150 v2 firmware. Is the router firmware same as the firmware being used by US set as based on its naming convention, they seem like the same ? I was comparing the latest firmware release between MY and US tp-link websites and noticed that the firmware build 170926 is not available in MY website (only build 170628 is the latest)
*
Yes, they are the same. I have the router and they are exactly the same.

So does this means I can update to the latest firmware from Tp-link US website?
*
You don’t need to bro. Just click update firmware on the router and it will update by itself, with the latest firmware.

provided all things optimal? will i be getting all of my (supposedly) 100 mbps unifi? how bout on a FAST ethernet powerline which im using?
*
Yes bro, provided all things optional, even on your fast Ethernet powerline, but as bro blacktubi said, it is very sensitive to many factors.

guys,

just to check, when you guys change to a new routers, do you all hv to call TM to reset port in order for the new routers to work?  Or just unplug and plug and setup/configure will do without calling TM to reset port?

And when we call TM to reset port, what will TM do actually? just reset password?
*
No bro, you don’t need to call TM to reset port when you configure the new router. You just unplug the old router, and setup and configure the new router normally.

They reset the connection on their end, and restart it again. They don’t reset your password in any way.

it seems that the auto random reboot of c1200 is normal here. I'm facing it after  using it for 1 month. Is there any fix to this? Provided by TM
*
Nope so far, you have to change router or flash a different firmware, more specifically the EU firmware on TP Link Australia.

can i use the 3 port of this kit to connect to the router and the single port to my pc? the shop told me cannot

http://www.tp-link.com.my/products/details...A8630P-KIT.html
*
You got it the other way around. The single port should be connected to the Router and the one of the 3 ports to your PC, assuming that you are trying to get LAN connection to the router, but unable to do so, because of wiring.

he reason for this is so my home computer all gets gigabit powerline

2 pc upstairs, 1 downstairs, 1 hypp tv
*
Not possible for powerline to be used for Hypptv if it is used for Internet already. You have to choose either one. See above for bro ppfoong who confirmed it.

Gigabit powerline is unnecessary if your connection does not reach 1000Mbps, or 1Gbps speed. You can buy that as it is better than AV500 powerline, but won’t make much difference for speed.

on current powerline, speed is only reaching 50mbps out of 100mbps i subscribed
*
Your new powerline should be better, but not sure if you can still get full speed. The best thing for you is stil a direct wireless connection to your router. Would recommend you get a better router with strong coverage. I would recommend the TP Link AC3150 v2.

QUOTE(neekun @ Dec 27 2017, 07:56 PM)
Did you ever tested TP C5400 on a double storey house with router at ground floor and testing connection at upstair?

I am looking for a good wifi router which at least can give me 100mbps wireless connection at upstairs.
*
It is possible, but you need to be connected to 5GHz, assuming that you area is congested and have interference from other wireless AP. The TP C3150v2 would be more than enough for you bro.

archer c5 TM edition
is there any other way to get the speed upstairs while the router at ground floor? if hardwire will need to redo the whole house network wires which will take something around 20-30 meters maybe to one PC

just in case minor details missed, it's a double storey semi-D house, wifi N @ -70 dBm, AC @ -80 dBm

could get a stronger router but on wifi, doesnt that cause lag in games?
*
If the WiFi is strong enough and if you get a great strong signal, the lag is minimal. Of course , connected through cable is the best but if there is no choice, a good router with good coverage is always better than powerline. Archer C5 is good, but try the AC3150 v2.

QUOTE(SilentForever @ Dec 27 2017, 10:19 PM)
Hey BlackTubi, awesome reviews on your site. I want to ask whether the TP Link C2600 is reaching end of life? And the general standard now for price/performance is AC1900. However TP Link AC1900s looks like crap tbh. Actually I like the design of the C3200 and C5400 more than others by alot but these are  super overkill. xD Should I go for the C2300 or the C3150 V2? And what do you recommend for extending wifi coverage for >5000 sq ft. Heard that mesh is not good for concrete? Extender? Thanks.
*
I am not bro Blacktubi, but will help him to answer. TP Link C2600 have reached its EOL in Malaysia. General standard for price/performance does not really matter, and peromance of a particular router matters more. I would suggest the C3150 v2. Very stable, reliable, and rock solid. I am using that model now, and I highly recommend it. If you have the budget, go for the best in C5400 v2.

Would recommend powerline for extending >5000sq ft, but your house might be on three phase wiring, so extender is the last choice. Of course, an additional AP would work, but if you have no Ethernet jack, powerline or extender would be your last choice.

Mesh WiFi is definitely not advisable for our house in Malaysia as it depends on the wireless backhaul, and our houses are all made of concrete, so definitely not optimal for mesh WiFi.

i am still having dlink wbr2300, should i ask tm to change to a newer one since i just renew my contract under rye2016, maybe change to tp link ac1200?
*
Yes, but would recommend you get your own router. There have been many complaints about the C1200 and its stability.

True but i am using unifi less than 1 month only and every 1-2 days sure give me this problem no fail. this device cant be that "lousy" right that need to reboot 24 hours. Finding a long term solution

Long term solution is changing that damn router to something else.

testing my AV500 on 1 Gbps lease line at office

what is the purpose of having 500 mbps connection from homeplug 1 to homeplug 2 when the actual LAN port is only 100 mbps?  hmm.gif
*
The 500Mbps is just a number, the maximum throughput a homeplug can reach. However, real life is more complicated with electrical noise, line quality, and other interference, so a homeplug rarely reach full throughput.

Thanks haha but I bought already.

My current speed:

How do interpret the speed? Is 220Mbps the link speed between two power line device (adaptor at downstair and extender at upstair). I used to get around 78Mbps to 114Mbps before this when using Airport Express on upstair to extend the wifi network.

*
Don't worry too much about the numbers. Are you getting the speed that you want from the powerline? If you are, it is all good.

What is the AC pasthrough in powerline? Will it work with three phase? I experienced previous powerline before and it is super unstable. Pretty sure it was the old wiring problem though. xD
*

[/quote]

AC passthrough? It just meant that there is a connection to the socket at the front of the powerline so you don't waste a wall socket. No, it won't really work well with three phase, but you never know until you test it at your place.

Hi. For now I'm using Unifi stock modern ZTE ZXHN H267A VDSL2 for Unifi Advance 30mbps, Hypptv Stb and phone line. Can you suggest TPLink model can replace this modem? Thanks 🙂
*
Newer routers from TP Link that support VDSL have not been released in Malaysia yet. For now, you have to either configure the modem router that you have to be a bridge/modem only for another router or buy two D Link routers that can support VDSL. See here for these two models:

2) http://www.lazada.com.my/latest-d-link-3x9...82d7ahD03R&mp=1

Can choose either one bro.

If you use either one, it can work with HyppTV and phone line. I would recommend the first link that I sent to you though.
