i think the Archer VR1200v can use fibre connections [attachmentid=9532742]

Thank you for the clarification bro. Hopefully, it will come with the right and proper firmware. I would buy it if it does come with fibre connections.

the archer ac3150 is a great router. I'm using it now. daily connected devices around 16-22 units. no problem easy to monitor since this is a cloud router. the wifi coverage is quite strong too
*
I agree bro. Best WiFi coverage among routers that I have had in the past. Glad to see you are enjoying it.

I see. Thanks for the review thou.
I thought the combo router from tplink will support both unifi and streamyx since it has a wan poer (interent port) and 4 gigabit lan ports. The design attracts me thou.
*
It does look good bro, and will definitely support both Streamyx and Unifi. Hope it will get a good firmware as well.

this unit quite expensive oh!
*
Not really. It is definitely at the high end in terms of price but it is comparable to Asus routers and very well done.

QUOTE(eddyann @ Jan 23 2018, 03:11 PM)
mid range price to my opinion. expensive one easily exceed 1k  biggrin.gif  but the features and stability is awesome
*
True. I agree. It is very good and worth the price.

Trust me, if you connect at 5Ghz and enabling the beamforming, it doesn't matter if it is N or AC protocol, the beamforming will improve the signal quality and bandwidth.

I am only sad beamforming isn't available for 2.4Ghz  sad.gif
*
Some routers can activate beamforming for 2.4GHz though.

And I noticed 2.4Ghz beamforming capable router tends to cost arms and legs.  shocking.gif
*
Yes bro, enterprise routers and the top end expensive home routers do cost more with beamforming.

If you mean the 2.4Ghz beamforming on Asus routers, it is non-standard so it wouldn't work with all clients and it even causes issue sometimes.

The only working 2.4Ghz beamforming I have experienced is on Ruckus APs but that's enterprise level in a totally different league. Consumer gears are not even close to the level of performance by enterprise AP. flex.gif
*
Agree with you there bro blacktubi. Enterprise networking devices are on a whole different level entirely, compared with home networking.

Anybody has encountered the TPLink AC1200 keep restarting? Like almost once every 2-4hours? Any solutions to this??
*
Bro, this is old news. See this thread and another TP Link thread on here. Solution is to either update your firmware to a beta firmware, or get a new router.

QUOTE(mpyw @ Jan 25 2018, 02:07 PM)
Hi, I have a Archer D9 from my streamyx time and now have upgraded to unifi.

I understood that the D9 can act as wireless router and compatible with unifi. However, when I try to set them up, the status keep showing "connecting...."and could not connect to the internet.

have updated to lastest firmware but it does not have the "unifi mode" like the C1200 provided by TM. also it does not allow me to change the VLAN setting while in router mode?

Any help is welcome and thank you.
*
Bro, the Archer D9 can’t act as a wireless router. It can if it has VLAN tagging capabilities but it doesn’t, so it can’t be used for Unifi. Get another router, to be used for Unifi. I recommend the C7 v4.

See the link here for a recommended seller, that I often use: https://www.lazada.com.my/tp-link-ac1750-wi...is-1774185.html

It mentions C7 v2 in the as, but it is V4.

QUOTE(Jegane @ Jan 25 2018, 02:11 PM)
Alright, thanks, if its from TM? I can claim warranty from TM right? Not even 1 year yet. smile.gif
*
Yes, you can claim directly from TM. Hope it won’t happen again, unless you request for a different router, which is the DIR-850L.

QUOTE(eddyann @ Jan 31 2018, 08:47 AM)
any reason why my archer C3150 suddenly got download speed dropped from average 150 mbps++ to 50++ mbps?

I realized it just few days, tried on speedtest on pc/and its apps also got the same thing. while the upload still ok maintain as usual 30++ mbps.

I tried to isolate it by switch off the WiFi from the physical switch, leaving only 1 connecting device to speedtest. the same thing.

the only solution is by reboot or off and on again. the first few minutes I can achieve the normal speed download 150 mbps++, then a few minutes later, the download speed reduced again to 50++ mbps, while the upload still ok.

i checked on the apps I dont see any device got heavy downloading at that time. all around few kB only.
*
Too many reasons why, could be a physical problem or a problem with TM. If this happens again, call TM to reset your port.

hi, i am currently using Talon AD7200 which connected to Unifi. but i realized that if i want to connect to Unifi i have to enable IPTV mode to connect to Unifi, and because of this the QoS function will need to disable, as stated down on the router IPTV and QoS cannot switch on together. But i really need to use the QoS. Is there anyway i can disable the IPTV mode but still manage to connect to Unifi?
*
No, unfortunately not. You can't disable IPTV and still connect to Unifi, as you need to tag your VLAN for Unifi, so not possible to use QOS as well.

I just changed my router to dual band, which adapter support 5Ghz?
*
You have plenty of options. See TP-Link, D-Link, or Asus.

dear all sifu, using Archer C1200 from Time business broadband with add on 5 public fixed IP at my office.

I'm trying to setup a video conference using the public IP given by TIME, after setup fix IP on VC i can make outgoing call to another VC system but other was unable to reach my VC public IP, i've try ping.eu also cant ping my public IP. searching through all router setting also cannot locate any setting related to public IP apart form the dual LAN under DHCP.

Does anyone know how to configure the router so that other can see or reach my public IP?
*
You are using the Archer C1200 for your business? That is your first mistake. Archer C1200 is more catered to residential use. I would recommend you find something better for your business. Anyway, you can’t configure your router so that others can see or reach your public IP. You have to talk to Time, and they have to configure their settings on their end. You should be able to ping your router, unless you are not using public IP, but private IP, behind their private default gateway.

thanks for the advice, the router came with the link, i did similar setup some years back on streamyx and unifi it was much easier with default router/modem supplied.

So is this router limitation which i need a better router or TIME need to sort out their setting?
*
TIME need to sort out their setting for your problem bro, as they need to issue you a public IP that can be ‘seen’ on the Internet. My personal suggestion to you would be to change your router as you are running a business, and the C1200 is not an ideal enterprise router.

does anyone has any issue with unifi IPTV with this TPlink Archer c1200?

Mine seems to lag a bit when I flipped channels. Is this normal or a firmware problem? Currently using EU firmware.  Does IPV6 has anything to do with this ?
*
The C1200 is well-known for multiple problems, and reliability issues with their firmware. No, IPv6 has nothing to do with this. It could be related to the hardware of the C1200.

btw thank for the help

any representative from TP-Link can help me... please

Bro, have you checked the manual for the router? See here: https://static.tp-link.com/1910012198_Arche...0(US)_V1_UG.pdf

According to the router manual/user guide, it is the email that you use to create a TP Link account with. Try your email and the password that you set. Otherwise, hard reset the router and set everything again according to the steps in the manual.

Does it mean another way other than buying a router is to avoid the congested wifi channel and choose the less congested channel?I have actually try to check it but i don't think the area I am living is congested with wifi interference, my wifi channel is set to Auto atm. May be I should fix the channel then?
*
Download WiFi Analyzer by farproc on your Android phone or Acrylic WiFi on your PC, and scan the wireless network around your area. You will be surprised to see how busy the wireless channel around your area is. Find a less congested channel and stay there.

Hi bro SilentVampire, I tried to change the wifi channel to the less congested channel, it really works well yesterday. BUT, this morning, I found that my phone and my mum's can barely connect to the wifi (not having any issue last night night), even if i was standing just next to the router, the wifi signal bar seems like i was standing very far from it and can barely detect it, I did not reboot as I was rushing to work. Btw, yesterday after i changed the channel, I did not reboot the router, will it be the cause??Any idea?
*
No bro, that won’t be the reason why. What channel did you change it to? It should’t cause any issue bro.

Channel 13, which nobody is using. Ya, it shouldnt be any issue at all, i tried turning on and off my phone's wifi for a few times, seems better after that, but was rushing to work this morning, didn't try further, may be will try again when back later.
*
I would suggest Channel 11 bro. It’s either 1, 6, or 11, which are non-overlapping channels.

did we need to use surge protector to protect the homeplug?

or it can be safely plug into wall outlet directly?

btw, i am using TL-WPA8630P KIT and it is connect to PS4 and TV with wired connection.
*
You need to plug into the wall outlet directly. If you use a surge protector, it won’t work as well.

The homeplug and device connected won't get damage during thunderstorm?
*
Maybe. It is a risk you will have to take. If you put your home plug on a surge protector, it will be unreliable and at worst, unusable.
