is firmware version : 1.0.0 Build 20170905 rel.41738  (EU) the latest for this > Archer C1200 ?

just got this modem from Unifi yesterday . the firmware in the router is 1.0.0 Build 20170905 rel.41738  (EU) and i could only find the same firmware in TP link Malaysia website
*
Yes, that is the latest firmware. However, some forum eras have had success flashing their firmware to the Australian version. If you are not that knowledgeable technically, just stick to that firmware.

thanks for your fast reply . flashing firmware is ntg new for me ...hehe .. however , is there any issue in the current firmware ? flashing to australian version any better ?
*
Not too sure if there are any issue in the current firmware, but they claim that the Australian firmware is somewhat better, but do it at your own risk. At least, there won’t be ‘@unifi’ on your SSID.

Anyway, there have been complaints about the router itself hanging up and rebooting by itself often. Most people who can afford it have change to a different better router that they buy themselves, me included.

What's the difference between Australian firmware and European firmware?
I check their changelog, both are the same...unless I am missing something here...
*
Both are similar, yes, but Australian firmware does not have the ‘@unifi’ suffix that the EU Malaysian firmware have. That is annoying, and can’t be removed. If it were me, I would buy my own router, C7v4 is the least I could recommend, which is more stable and reliable than AC1200.

Hi I can't find the 3 packs deco m5 anywhere. Is the offer still on?
*
For your reference: https://www.lelong.com.my/catalog/all/list?...Keyword=Deco+m5

Keep in mind the deco m5 does not yet support vLAN tagging and you need to get a separate switch to enable vLAN tagging.

Hi! I'm a tech noob.
Bought a lot of Wifi Router but still the wifi very slow.
Currently using TP Link TD-W8961N on TM Streamyx 8Mbps.

If use with LAN the line is strong. But with wifi the line is super slow.
Even bought Wifi Extension still not working.

Contacted TM guy but still the problem persists already few years. They even ask us to change router and we already change 3 Wifi Router.. still the same problem!

Anyone can assists? thanks  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

Hi CartoonQueen, did you try to analyze the wireless networks in your area? Your area might be congested or there is a lot of interference. Use Wifi Analyzer by farproc if you have Android phone or Acrylic Wifi if you prefer to use your computer. Download Fing on Android phone to check who is connected to your network and see if there is any unknown person using your Wifi.

any comparable tp-link router got good coverage like WR941HP. this 941HP is good with 1000mw amplifier with 9 dBi antenna. the drawback of this unit no wireless AC and gigabit ethernet
*
Sounds real good, but the best next thing is the TP Link AC3150 v2, which will set you back at least RM720.

Guys, what is the best value for money wifi router i can get with a budget of RM200? it will be connected to the modem for Fiber@home.

Thanks
*
Too little budget bro. You won’t get something decent for that amount unfortunately. Increase your budget to at least double that then you can get better.

QUOTE(ckchan @ Dec 12 2017, 11:40 AM)
unfortunately i am very tight on budget now as i am moving to my new apartment. reno, furniture,... blah blah blah... u know la.

so i am not a tech savvy person. my unit is only a 2 bedroom 900+sqft apartment. as long as the wifi is stable, signal can cover both room and can support up to 100mbps, i'm ok with it.

so if i stick to RM200 budget, what is your best recommendation?
if let's say i double the budget, then what is your recommendation?

Thank you
*
Ok bro, fair enough. But, if you are moving to a new apartment, there will be multiple wireless networks so you will need a router that can support AC, which will support speeds of up to 100Mbps easily.

If you stick with RM200 budget, I recommend you get this:

http://www.lazada.com.my/new-v5-tp-link-ul...53bf1IgeGJ&mp=1

But, this router does not support AC, so it is up to you.

If you double your budget to RM400, you can get a decent router that support AC:

http://www.lazada.com.my/tp-link-ac1750-wi...558dnjnbZS&mp=1

I would recommend this router as it support AC and would be more than enough for your 2 bedroom 900 sqft apartment, plus it would be able to support up to 100Mbps.

Alternatively, you can try Asus router, which is not bad as well. I would suggest the Asus RT-1200G, or the Asus RT-AC58U, which is better, so it is up to you.

thanks, checked it is FCC: <30dBm (1W). with 4 detachable antenna. this is great also, I can upgrade to higher gain antenna. I'll put in my wishlist  biggrin.gif

been using 941HP. it is great router, relatively cheap below 250, strong wifi signal, 3-4 next door neighbor still can receive signal
*
Yes, I agree. The 941HP is a very good basic router, but it does not support AC and wireless gigabit as you say, so these are potential drawbacks.

QUOTE(eddyann @ Dec 12 2017, 11:49 AM)
it still within my reach (700-850). for sure it is better coverage than 941HP? my nc230 ip cam struggling working at wifi coverage 50-65%. kinda thick and got a lot of metal roofing, which degrade the signal
*
For sure, bro. I am using this router, the AC3150 v2, and it is very good, with excellent coverage, and great firmware.

Mind explaining what's the main difference between a router that support AC and one that does not?

I want to ask whether

TL-ER604W
OR
TL-R600VPN

is Unifi or Maxis Fibre compatible?

Was planning to build a Site-To-Site VPN.

So my plan is to get 2 units of the same model and setup at 2 different site.
*
Should be able to for TL-ER604W as it supports VLAN tagging but not too sure about TL-600VPN. You have to check with TP-Link MY

guys, need help. just setup my newly acquired c3150 V2.  Managed to get hypptv and wifi working but few major problems, wifi connections is sux and hyptv is buffering.  I never had buffering issue with hypptv when using my c5 and I can always get full speed with 5g although 2.4g is bad.  But with c3150, hyppty is buffering, 5g can only get 85Mbps while 2.4g is still as bad as before.  Even with ethernet lan connection, I could only get 95Mbps the most.  I hv already tried restart modem and router a few times but still the same. What could be the problem?  any idea?

The only changes made is the iptv is connected to lan port 4 on the c5 while the on the c3150 , it is to lan port 1 and also i hv change the wifi ssid name...
*
That’s surprising bro. I am using the exact same router to you, and I never have this problem. Did you try updating to the latest firmware? My Hypptv is okay and no problems, and I am running the latest firmware.

Regarding the 5GHz and 2.4GHz WiFi, have you try analyzing the wireless networks in your area? If there is too many congested channels and interference, changing routers won’t help. Use WiFi analyzer by farproc if you are using Android phone and Acrylic WiFi if you are using PC.

Is a v2 and that should be the latest firmware right?  I did use analtser and acrylic that you recommended previously to set my c5 to optimum and i used back the same channel and settings on the c3150, it shows no overlapping but the wifi strength is somehow overall lower compared to c5.

Didi you adjust any other settings of your router?  Ipv6 is set to disable by default and i let it be. Qos is set to standard by default

**P.S. just discovered that hypptv buffers when someone else is using wifi...hmmm...settings issue?
*
Yes, should be latest firmware but you have to click firmware update as well., to see if there is a newer one. If the WiFi strength is lower, there should be overlapping somehow. Adjust the transmission power to medium instead of high.

I did not adjust any other settings. I disabled WPS, UPNP, and as bro dareniks said, I select IGMP Proxy V3, as well as disabling link aggregation.

And my HyppTV definitely does not buffer when someone is using the WiFi. You might have link aggregation enabled?

Bro, I have the exact same router as you as you know and have similar settings, and I have no problems. You should have no problems as well. Maybe you can set the 2.4GHz to 802.11bgn mixed and 5GHz to 802.11AC only.

bro, can you pls check if I am having the latest firmware? I tried to click the upgrade button but unable to do it as it needs cloud id and I am not able to register for their cloud id, dunno why

Bro, it is the latest firmware. Register here for Cloud ID and you can use the Tether app anywhere you go to remotely manage your router:

thanks for the confirmation bro.  I tried to reset the c3150 and re setup again and problem still the same.  Switched back to my C5, all back to normal again, no buffering, full speed with 5G.  Sighh....dunno whats wrong with the c3150
*
Bro, I really don’t know what’s wrong with your C3150. Mine is working very good at the moment, and no problems. I don’t understand why yours is like that rclxub.gif

Wifi wise is ok, acceptable, in fact 2.4g gained more speed but problem lies with lan connection, all lan connection (hypptv and andriod box) suffer buffering, cannot even stream movie.  Buffering will become worse when wifi is being used. Seriously unacceptable. Not sure if router defective or settings problem....headache!
*
Bro, I don’t have the problem. I am quite surprised actually you have this problem. Maybe you should consider a replacement. I use mine without any problems.

Strange, by right lan connection is a very straight forward tight? not much settings to set with compared to wifi.  Since all my lan connections has buffering problem, can i assume that my unit cud be defective? I m really at a lost on what to do now
*
Just contact Ookas or TP Link Malaysia and tell them your problem and request for the unit to be exchanged, repaired, or checked. See here bro: http://www.tp-link.com.my/support/rma/

QUOTE(neekun @ Dec 18 2017, 10:27 AM)
Is there any mesh wifi router by TP-Link?

I am researching Netgear Orbi AC2200 (RBK40). Currently I am using Apple AirPort Extreme (AC) at ground floor with ethernet connecting to TP Link C5 given by Telekom.

At ground floor all wifi signals are perfect, with speed test up to 100mbps ++, my Unifi package is 100mbps.

At upstair, I use Apple Airport Express (N, 2nd Gene) to extend the N network signal from ground floor running on 5ghz. I can see sometimes my Airport Express physical mode speed is drops to 78mbps, with max at round 100mbps. Running speedtest on upstair connecting to Airport Express the speed is around 45mbps.

I wonder if mesh wifi router can improve my situation. Any comments?
*
Hard to say as mesh wifi router rely on the wireless backhaul system. If one mesh unit is not connecting well to the other unit, the whole system will suffer as a whole.

Yea that’s what worry me too since first floor and ground floor is separated by concrete. And I don’t want invest in mesh WiFi only to find out its same or worse than current speed.  cry.gif
*
Yes bro, it is a very significant investment. Best thing you could do is to set up an AP, but that requires cabling to be done, which is a pain and a mess unfortunately.

802.11Ah have longer range singal compare other standard because it use 0.9Ghz,
IEEE say 802.11AH have range about 1KM,so you can say bye bye to wifi deadspot,
But right now 802.11AH is just newly release on dec 2016
*
You will have to wait longer for it to be available in Malaysia unfortunately. The rate of adoption of new technology in Malaysia depends entirely on the supply and demand, and for now, most people are content with N and AC, and most don’t even know the different wireless standards out there, so we are out of luck.

wanna ask one thing I'm uncertain

on a powerline, is the wifi network repeated or is it network going through powerline THEN broadcasted? if its the usual rebroadcast like a wifi repeater then i think wifi speed will be significantly affected
*
The data is gong through the powerline then broadcasted. It is not repeated. However, powerline is very sensitive to electrical noise and any electrical noise will affect the data transmission rate.
