Finally, send my C1200 to refund.
Looking to buy C7v2 as replacement.

Any big brother using C7v2 here? mind to share the experience?
My main concern will be stability, Maybe will try to setup file sharing as well.

*i got very bad experience with C1200, auto reboot, hang, wifi lost connection.....hope C7 will be better.
*
Hey bro, Archer C7 v2 has been a pleasure to use, and none of the problems you mentioned about the C1200. Consider the Archer C7 v4 now that you can get from this link: https://www.lazada.com.my/tp-link-ac1750-wi...is-1774185.html
They mention Archer C7 v2 but they will ship Archer C7 v4. It’s a newer version with improved antenna, and firmware is newer as well.

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Nov 24 2017, 02:35 AM)
Consider the higher end series. I tested C3150, C5400 and AD7200 and they are really good routers.
*
Yes, listen to this man. I’m currently using C3150 v2 and it is a much better router than the C7 v2, if you have the budget. The C5400 and C7200 might be a bit overkill but if you have the money and your house have many devices, it is really worth the investment.

Wow, C3150 look nice!!! but it is double the price for C7, consider out of my current budget  biggrin.gif

I use this router for my condo only, most of the time connected with 3-6 devices only (laptop, phone, chromecast).
Initially I think C1200 should be good enough for my little condo, but it truly disappointed me, lucky I still able to make refund, now going to "upgrade" to C7.

TP Link official store having mega sale at Shopee now, selling C7 with extra discount, about RM350 after discount.
https://shopee.com.my/TP-Link-Archer-C7-AC1...15875.402047234

I also check with TP Link, they are selling v4, but this maynot make me happy.

Again, from my experience in C1200, they are many user complain v1 having auto reboot issue, v2 fix most of the thing, i got the product is v3, all issue come back... bangwall.gif
So far I saw many good feedback for C7v2, hopefully v4 will continue working well...
*
Thanks for the link bro! I might pick myself a C7 v4 as well just to see the difference between the V2 and V4. C7 v4 should be more than enough for you then. Good luck.

Hi, newbies here wanna ask something, regarding TP-Link AC1200. Just got this router when upgrading my unifi package.

right now using ASUS RT-AC5300 as my main router and thinking to use this new TP-LINK AC1200 as a repeater, google around on tutorial and mostly said that I need to enable WDS function inside

Advanced > System Tools > System Parameter

but inside this screen i cant find any WDS setting. Anyone had any idea
*
You can't use that as a repeater, only as an AP, unless you flash custom firmware, which I don't think can be done on the TP-Link AC1200, if I'm not mistaken. See here for the difference between AP and repeater:

https://purple.ai/repeat-after-me-repeaters...-access-points/

If you are using the Asus RT-AC5300 as your main router, it should be more than enough?

Sir

All 3 things done.  It just did not work.  It's unable to access the Internet.

I am not too sure about the settings on the Archer C20, but is there a place for VLAN tagging? You will need to set VLAN to 621, to be able to access the Internet if you are on Maxis.

QUOTE(razkal @ Nov 29 2017, 08:39 AM)
Thanks for the input bro. Glad to know this. Also need some recommendation for my internet setup. My router is the cylindrical DLINK supplied by TM located upstairs. No problem getting 100Mbps upstairs but downstairs I opt for TP link powerline extenders AV500. Using this extender downstairs, with wifi able to get only half the speed around 50Mbps, with LAN able to get around 75Mbps.

Is it better for me to change my router located upstairs to TPLINK C3150 or change to a better powerline extender for example TP-Link TL-WPA8630P as what you've reviewed at your site? Tq.
*
I have the TP Link AC3150 v2 and it is performing very well with rock solid stability and much better firmware and coverage compared to my Archer C7 v2 that I use to have. It would be better for you to change routers, as changing power line extender will not make a difference to be honest. It seems that the wiring in your house is either three phase, or there is some form of interference, so it would be better to change routers and see what is the difference.

QUOTE(razkal @ Nov 29 2017, 10:42 AM)
When you said better stability does it means speed as well? For my current router only able to get full speed upstairs using 5ghz connection. Downstairs, it will be different as it solely depends just on the 2.4ghz signal as there is no coverage with 5ghz. The reason I used the extender is to get better speed and coverage downstairs.

Do you think it is possible just to rely on the router only just cover the whole house? An able to get at least decent speed around 90-100Mbps. Btw my house is just normal double storey house.
*
Yes, you will potentially have better speed as you will have better coverage compared to the D-Link router that you have now. There is definitely better 5GHz coverage on the C3150 v2.

If your house is a normal double story house with not too many walls or electrical appliances, then yes, it is possible with the TP-Link C3150 v2. My house is 8000sq ft, and it covers the entire house, except the kitchen, which is partly due to the layout of my house, than the router’s problem.

See here for a cheaper option for the TP-Link c3150v2 router, compared to RRP:

My TPlink TL-WN8200ND wifi receiver recently having problem so i bought a new TPlink Archer T4UHP wifi receiver, but i'm still using old 300mbps router, now i'm think to upgrade my router to AC1200 or 1300, can you guys please recommend which is good for Unifi 50mb, budget not exceed rm400 if can. Thanks
*
To be honest, it won’t make much of a difference unless you are using an extremely old router that is not capable of AC, but it is good to upgrade anyway. I would recommend the TP Link Archer C7 v4. You can get it here:

http://www.lazada.com.my/tp-link-ac1750-wi...53bfIRn1tJ&mp=1

It says Archer C7 v2, but they will send the v4 to you. It is slightky lower than RM400, but worth the money.

Good to hear that. I would prefer to do my own VLAN tagging though. Hope you are enjoying the new router. Mine is stable and I am enjoying ir so far.

I prefer leaving IPV6 disabled as it may cause issues with some sites currently.
*
True. Plus the implementation of IPv6 is not really optimized for use in Msia yet.

Ok noted. Will leave IPV6 disable. Enjoying the router speed and stability.  Also I noticed that some of the router features such as MU MIMO, airtime fairness and packet distribution is not enabled by default. Should I enable them? Other functions that I really like from this router is the ability to use apps to control some of the router basic settings and can also be monitored outside my house including real-time bandwidth usage. Other settings maybe I don't explore yet. Probably a bit overkill for casual users as myself.
*
That's what makes the price worthwhile. I love all the extra features that this router has, and I have updated it to the latest firmware, which has more features. Will leave you to explore for yourself rclxms.gif

Ok will do that.
Yes it's a worthy purchase. Was wondering whether anyone using notebook cooler with this router? This thing seems to run quite hot IMHO.
*
Mine is warm to the touch, but not hot. To be fair, this router is quite powerful and the heat dispersion system is not that good.

Have you purchased the current archer c7 bro? what router you are current using? rclxms.gif
*
Hey bro, not yet. I am using the Archer C3150 v2 and it is serving me well so I don’t need to get the Archer C7 v4. But, I am waiting for the next sale to get it as I will have it as a backup rather than the Archer C7 v2, which is okay but unreliable and the firmware is getting old.

Anyway, reading Amazon reviews of the Archer C7 v4 shows that it is better than the Archer C7 v2, with improved antennae and firmware.

If you can get Archer C9, you will not get Archer C7. I have tried it myself, Archer C9 is a lot more better than C7.
*
I agree bro. But, I am just curious about the Archer C7 v4. I have the C3150 v2, so I don’t need the C7. I just want to see the difference between C7 v2 and v4. Here is the internal specs for comparison for bro Jjuggler reference as well:

Archer C7 v4: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_Archer_C7_v4.x

Nice router there. I sold my archer c7 v2 to my friend. Currently using stock c1200 router by tm. For current budget time, i feel the router pretty reliable than archer c7v2. In future i might get the asus ROG Rapture GT-AC5300
. Haha.
*
Wow, bro. That’s an amazing router if you can get it. But, I would really recommend the TP Link C3150 v2. The coverage is amazing and the new updated firmware has antivirus, QOS, and a whole lot more setting plus they have their dedicated app to manage the router. It is very good. You will thank me if you get it lol, and it cost way less than the Asus router you want to buy, only RM730 now. I have seen it drop to RM680 during Lazada sales.

I will definitely try out the TP-Link C3159v2 once my current c1200 dies. Hope in future the price of c3150 will drop. Antivirus? wow. How is the antivirus?
*
It will drop during Lazada sales, but won’t drop too much. Will send you a PM if it drop significantly. It is Trend Micro antivirus and you can’t really do much with it but it is reassuring to know it is there. Plus, you can update your firmware from the router without downloading anythin. It will search for new updates to the firmware automatically and install it.

Wow. That is a nice feature. But my concern is, do the antivirus protect against the virus that comes through the home network or just a normal antivirus like scanning devices and so on?
*
It blocks the adware and virus that comes through the network so, for example, if one device on the network is trying to access a website, and there is adware on the website, it will block the adware before delivering the website to the device. It also acts as an IPS, or Intrusion Prevention System, so it will block any outside access to your router, and lastly, if your device is infected with a virus, it will stop that device from transmitting anything outside your network.

The bottom line is that it is a very good router and I highly recommend it thumbup.gif
