Remove the extender. Budget is low, but should be okay. You can either go for the Tenda AC18, or the TP-Link Archer C7 V5 or v4. Up to you which you think is better. Both support Unifi and UnifiTV.

Sounds like the router is overheating, and is frozen and not responsive, or problems with firmware.

Did you set Unifi-mode? Checked your VLAN settings? Sounds like you did not do that, so you could not use the router as your main router.

By the way, you bought a very basic router that only supports up to 100Mbps and only N. I am guessing that you are only able to use 2.4GHz and it is full of interference and congestion, and that is why you are being constantly disconnected. Sounds like the C5V has very basic hardware, and probably overheating. VoIP down is not because of TP-Link but Maxis. There must be some settings that you have to manually configure in order for VoIP to work. You have to ask Maxis about it. Unifi does not have this problem, as the VoIP is configured via the BTU.
