Anyway to avoid it? I have been switching to the channel where no one is using nearby.

Nope, go on 5GHz AC, if you can.

should I be using Tp-Link's Cloud service for remote management? worry about security....hahaha

btw is it possible to reboot router with remote management? say the router somehow not connected and i want to reboot it

thanks all
*
Yes, it is possible to reboot using remote management, but you need to be connected to the Internet lol, otherwise you can't do it.

Just use a throwaway email for remote management.

btw i have problems using the Tether app. It cant find my router. One time it found it then i was doing something else and now i cant get it....

*
Yes, you are right. Try to uninstall and reinstall the app. I am using Tether and have no issues.

one thing I dont like about the Archer C2300 - the power adapter is retarded.
The plug is upside down which takes up lots of space on my power strip extension. Even you plug it in to wall socket, the wire is at the top 😫
*
Design flaw lol.

1. deleted the app.
2. logon to Tp-link Cloud Service
3. C2300 showed up on the list of "My Devices"
4. try to login but failed. Didnt ask for any password. Immediately failed

must i set anything in the router itself?
*
Newest firmware? Did you set up TP-Link Cloud on your router? You need to set it up on the router GUI page.

yes latest firmware.
yes in the router already signed in and Binded

btw when i go into my router via web - now i got to use the cloud's service user email and password. previously just need to keep in password of the router's admin page
*
Yes, that is to be expected. When you bind the email address, you will have to use the email and password. It works smoothly for me no issues.

Asking, ac2300 vs ac3150 have any significant difference ?
How about coverage ? Might be connect to 5+devices and can it covered 300m2 house ?

Or waiting the ac2700 that might comeup next month ?
The price range will be around that 500-600 ?
Just want to change my tplink router that has been work around 6++yrs almost 10, and start entry level mu-mimo
*
AC3150 will have better coverage. Not too sure about the AC2700, as it needs to be tested and reviewed first. Suggest the AC3150 for you, or the AC2300 if you want to save some money.

i tried using an android phone. downloaded the tether app. but i cant login to my cloud service.
email and password is correct. Just says connection timed out. No other errors.

Could it be TP-LINK cloud service is down?
*
Nope. It is working for me. That is weird.

TM came after multiple complaints lodged, with a new wifi router replacement, Dlink DIR842. However, when i was using the 5Ghz, the wifi speed i can get when i am near the wifi router only went up to around 450Mbps. (My package is 800Mbps). My laptop gets about 65Mbps on 5Ghz with using TPLINK AC600 dongle. should i upgrade my wifi adapter to newer version of adapter? if yes, TPlink T4U or TPlink T9UH? please advice
*
Click the link on my signature and read green text to see list of compatible routers plus other general info. Your router and adapter both does not support 800Mbps. You need a more pricey router as well as a pricey wireless adapter.

Bos, i have read all and fundamental concept to get maximum speed in wireless is to use 5Ghz router. Problem with 5Ghz mode is the distance. Majority said that router that have 5Ghz with strength can cover atleast 70% double storey house is C3150. Any other brand (ASUS, TENDA, D-LINK) that have same specification like C3150?
*
D-Link DIR882, or Asus RT-86U.

Sorry, forget to inform that my internet package is UNIFI TURBO 500 Mbps. Any router that have strong coverage in 5Ghz for package 500Mbps.

For TP-LINK AC3150, try to buy online but its hard to get from local. Means that majority from oversea. Is it ok to buy from oversea? Afraid that have problem with firmware.

Thank you
*
I suggest waiting for the AC3150. It is out of stock at the moment, but will be coming back soon. Don't buy the overseas product as it is quite expensive, and you are not sure if it is v2. You would want v2, not v1. Alternatively, you can try getting the DIR-882.

*
Is it seated properly in the PCIe slot? Check the status of the driver and see if there are any errors, and if there are, observe the error code. See here: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-2252.html

What router is recommended for connecting to unify modem. WiFi use most of the time and easy to setup just plug n play no manual settings. Currently using unify old grey box router, connection damn slow.
*
Change it immediately, my friend. All the routers in the market is plug and play, with minimal configuration. What is your budget, how big is your house, and how many devices are in your house that is using the router? I can remodmmend you some models.

Double storey house router upstairs. Use wifi mostly downstairs with tp-link WiFi extender. Budget max rm250-300. Thanks.
*
Remove the extender. Budget is low, but should be okay. You can either go for the Tenda AC18, or the TP-Link Archer C7 V5 or v4. Up to you which you think is better. Both support Unifi and UnifiTV.

I wouldn't recommend extender in your network.

May I know if stock Time router TPLink AC1200 is good enough if I want to connect to Synology DS218J? I want to use the Synology download manager to download torrent files. Btw I'm using Time 500mbps package. Thanks
*
It is, but I would recommend something better. The AC1200 is too basic for 500Mbps package.

Does tplink TL-WR1043ND v2 support unifi?

Yes, but it is only N and not AC, and has very basic hardware

Hi Tp-Link,

Maxis just upgraded my router to Archer C5v. My problem now is after a while, my devices, laptops and Raspberry PIs become unresponsive to ping. In such cases, I can no longer log into these devices remotely. After I reboot the router, all devices can be pinged again, but becomes responsive again after a while (like in a few hours). I have increased the lease time of the DHCP lease but its still the same.

I've read some other users are also facing the issue and the only solution for them was also to restart the router from time to time which I think is not the right way to resolve this issue. I had no such issues with the previous Technicolor router, also provided by Maxis.

Any advise?
*
Sounds like the router is overheating, and is frozen and not responsive, or problems with firmware.

Hi guys, I need some help over here, its regarding my new router TL-WR840N

I bought this router to replace the current lousy Unifi router ( TRG-212M)

However, my new TP-LINK router is unable to get the internet connection UP.
Status tab shows the IP gateway all 0.0.0.0. [B]

I have confirm the my Unifi ID and PW is correct, end up I can only disable the wifi of Unifi router, and use this TP-link router as WIFI access point.

But...now the wifi connection keeps on disconnecting every few minutes, which drives me crazy. I have tried to tweak the WIFI channel but it doesnt help..

Anyone can enlighten me on this issue ?

Thanks in advance  icon_question.gif
*
Did you set Unifi-mode? Checked your VLAN settings? Sounds like you did not do that, so you could not use the router as your main router.

By the way, you bought a very basic router that only supports up to 100Mbps and only N. I am guessing that you are only able to use 2.4GHz and it is full of interference and congestion, and that is why you are being constantly disconnected. Click the link on my signature to read more general info about networking and you will see what I mean.

QUOTE(poh880 @ Oct 19 2018, 08:43 PM)
My C5v even worst, LAN ports not responsive after I connect the router to more LAN devices. All LAN devices have no access to Internet straight away. No solution to this problem. Router changed but still the same. So lousy ranting.gif Then I bought VR600v to replace it but VOIP is down. ranting.gif
TP-Link Malaysia, you sell a not compatible router for this country? wasting my money. No more TP-Link mad.gif
*
Sounds like the C5V has very basic hardware, and probably overheating. VoIP down is not because of TP-Link but Maxis. There must be some settings that you have to manually configure in order for VoIP to work. You have to ask Maxis about it. Unifi does not have this problem, as the VoIP is configured via the BTU.
