Archer C5400 no firmware update since 2017.
*
Is that the v2? C3150 v2 as well. Honestly, if you want register routers with regular firmware updates, go for Asus routers. If you want something that has enterprise feel, go for Mikrotik.

Anybody using Archer C2300 ?
*
I wouldn’t recommend it, if you want to watch UnifiTV. It screws that up. It would be better to get the C3150 v2.

Hi. I just got the Archer C7 v4 recently to replace my previous router that crapped out. Today, a pop-up notification suddenly appeared to tell me about a Firmware Upgrade while I was browsing the web. I picked the option to Ignore This Version, but when I logged into the router to look for an option to turn off firmware upgrade notifications, I couldn't find any.

My other family members are not very tech-savvy, so I'm worried that they will see this same pop-up and hit the Upgrade button and cause issues. Is there actually a way to turn these notices off?
*
Why would you ignore it? Update to the latest firmware if possible, unless there are stability issues. Honestly, you should update it. If you are worried about stability issues, see the release notes here: https://www.tp-link.com/my/download/Archer-...4.html#Firmware

I appreciate the advice. I'm more concerned about family members potentially clicking the Upgrade button and triggering the update process before I can get a chance to research the stability of the available firmware upgrade. I don't want them bricking the router by accident or upgrading to an unstable firmware version the moment the notice pops up. To elaborate: I'm not the kind of person who updates the moment a notification appears, as that has caused more harm than good in my experience.

So, back to my question: Is it possible to disable the notices?
*
Fair enough. You have a valid point. No, it is not possible to disable the notices until you update the firmware. You have to let your family member know to not update it.

Thanks for answering. I guess that means it also pops up for everyone using a browser on the network and that they don't require the webpage password to upgrade the firmware?
*
They do need the password actually, if I am not mistaken.

fyi i not update the firmware. just lazy but lucky me

Lol, that was me bro. Don’t ever update the firmware to the new version if you ant to watch Unifi TV. I updated for my in laws and it screwed the UnifiTV up.

Hi, wanna know C7 and C9, which one better in terms of range.
For 2 storey house for BT, CCTV and phones usage. (unifi turbo 300mbps)

If C7/C9 is not enough then only consider top up to C3150. Any recommends?
*
C7/C9 is definitely enough, but if you want the best, go for the C3150. Very good with in-built IPS and antivirus, and the range is superb.

Thanks.
How about C7 or C9? Which 1 is better? I read through posts mostly recommend C7 V4 and C9 hardware is old.
But if i read review, seem like C9 have better hardware and signal confused.gif
*
That was me, I presume that say C9 is old? C9 is better than the C7.

You can get the newest version of the C9 now from Ookas, but be aware that the firmware is EU version, and as such, the 5GHz channels are very limited.

Haha, didn't remember it's post by you cause read too many post.
EU version have better CPU and ram, but is also support unifi. right?

Limited channel i think is big impact if use in landed, i guess will less conflict with other houses confused.gif
*
I am sure it is me haha. EU version of firmware, but definitely support Unifi.

Yes, limited impact if landed. See here for the link for get the latest version: https://shopee.com.my/TP-LINK-AC1900-Wirele...80984.255675254

Hi..i planned to buy C7 to replace my existing maxis router technicolor..has anyone here try to setup VPN in this router? hows the performance? it keep disconnected or not?
*
C7 is okay, but you can't set VPN in this router. You need at least the C2300 to setup VPN. If you are using VoIP from Maxis, you will need to bridge the Maxis router to use VoIP.

Ah, okay, I got you. It is possible then, but in terms of stability, not too sure if that will be stable or not.

currently thinking of getting a c7 + re450 (range extender) but came across c3150 and pricing is quite similar.

My main concern is range for 5ghz.

Will i be better of getting a c7+re450 or a c3150 is good enough.

btw staying at a 2 storey landed property.
*
I would highly recommend the C3150 as having an extender on the network will limit the throughput of the network. Get the C3150 as it’s coverage is superb, even for 5GHz. You won’t regret your purchase. Don’t bother with switching on the IPv6 though, as it is not optimised right here.

Anyone managed to disable WPS on the Archer C7 V4? I've already disabled it in the settings yet it is still on  icon_question.gif

Only consolation is it will lock when you bruteforce it.  icon_question.gif

Latest firmware? Update it to the latest firmware, and if it is still happening, just hard reset it, and try again.

Firmware Version:
3.15.1 Build 160715 Rel.50549n
Hardware Version:
Archer C7 v2 00000000

possible to upgrade latest v5 firmware into v2?
*
Not possible. That router should be quite stable though. Try to hard reset it and set everything up again. If it is still not functioning and out of warranty, would suggest you get a new router.

Bought on July 2017. Now suddenly this happen, warranty only 1 year right?

So based on my firmware is the latest right?

Should I try WRT firmware if this didnt go thru? Using the TM C1200 kinda shitty
*
Nope, warranty 3 years if I am not mistaken. Try to hard reset, and try again. If still can't, send back for RMA.

Hard reset. Apparently only 2.4ghz facing frequent dc. While 5 ghz no issue. How do I send for RMA? Bought directly from tp link last year
*
Wait, frequent disconnection on 2.4GHz doesn’t sound like router issue, more like congestion and interference issue. Use a WiFi analyzer and check the wireless coverage in your area. Change your WiFi channel accordingly, to the least congested one.

im using archer c7 v2...bought January of 2016...is it still under warranty?

here's the problem...

1. during heavy dload and upload (torrent/speedtest) the wifi connection seems like no internet connection for 30-60sec and keep doing that until heavy load are off....the wifi connection are still there but there's no internet..what seems to be the problem?

2. wifi speed only 200-250mbps on 5ghz(stand next to the router) while it suppose to be 300-500mbps

if under warranty i want to send in for checking...if not...can i send it for repair?
*
Just get a new router bro. The answer to your first question is that the CPU of the router can’t sustain the heavy download and upload and your speed goes down because of that, CPU throttling. I will suggest you get a new router. Read my signature, and see list of compatible routers.

i have this problem way before the turbo upgrade...so just asking whether still in warranty or not n if not can i send it for repair...if the cost to repair is cheap...i can sell it to my friend after the repair and get a new better one...
*
Yes, the problem is not caused by the turbo upgrade, but the capability of the router. Good luck. Hope you get it fixed.
