I just went to urban republic gurney plaza n installed otterbox symmetry with alpha glass. However I think due to manufacturing defect somehow a part of the screen wasn't responsive. So the staff changed to panzer glass. Perfect combination with the otterbox case and good responsive.
*
How much is the panzer glass only? Does it has full screen adhesive or just the sides only has adhesive?
The main problem with most TG for s8 is that they only has side adhesive and not full screen adhesive, thus creating gap between TG and screen. That why some TG is unresponsive and need to press hard.
So far, only whitestone dome and hao has full screen adhesive, but they cost a lot.

Do what LordDenning suggested, use BASIC mode and check haha.
*
Basic mode will be yellowish white. The red tint would be more apparent like on my wife S8+. I really don't see a point because most likely you won't be using basic mode if you're so picky. Even I who uses basic mode on my S6e can't stand how the basic mode look like on S8. I'm using Amoled photo.

Well official launch of S8 in Malaysia is very late as well. May 4th.

Worldwide was April 21st. Singapore our neighbour was April 27 or 28 I think..

So thats about 2 weeks of delay already.  tongue.gif

But those that got it on April 21st, their production date was around late March, for SME units most of the production date is April 16-20.

To check production date dial *#12580*369# and see the RF cal
*
Even you buy now also different value. It is not tune one or two units but thousand millions. So I believe it is not really possible change by human.

By the way mine is 19/4. I buy on road show. smile.gif

I suggest you wait for the clear coat stock to arrive(unless going back to Sunway back and forth is not an issue for you), as the matte version makes the colors on screen look kinda washed out and not as vibrant for me personally.

I am sending my phone in tomorrow for 1 to 1 exchange so i'll still have to wait.

Hey guys, will probably get a preorder unit from a forumer tomorrow. Anything that I should pay attention to?
How to differentiate red tint or not, is it very obvious?
How to check whether it's a completely new set? Any seal or sticker at the side of the box?
How to check warranty? Seller claims 2 years by Samsung and 1 year by SenHeng, total 3 years.
How good is the free SP that comes with preorder bundle? Anyone got pictures?

Hope u guys can help me answer my doubts, first time buying from forumer.

s8 or s8+?
and how much? Is it new set or 2nd hand?

pay attention to the red-tint issue and also physical condition of the phone. Make sure no scuffs/scratches and no red-tint issue. If red-tint is present, depends on how obvious and whether you can accept it or not. I would suggest if you cant accept it, dont take it. If you find it good, then go ahead.

To answer your ques above:
1) go to the dialer, key in *#15987# and set the Reddish to 0.
2) next go to Settings > Display > Adaptive Display and check the RGB sliders, make sure all at MAXIMUM. and all the other sliders are in the Middle.
3) next under Display Settings as well, turn auto-brightness off and set the brightness to anything above 50%, or higher if you dealing under hot sun, etc. Basically just make sure the screen is bright that u can see colours and stuffs properly.
4) next go to dialer again, key in *#7353# and select TSP Dot Mode, it should show u a FULL white screen. Then proceed to check properly for any reddish tint on the white background.. Check the curved edges of the screen as well!
example of what a red-tint on white background look like:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Ok next steps will depend on whether you can accept the phone condition IF red-tint is present or not-present..
red tint Not present:
5) If no red-tint is present or you find the screen acceptable and to your liking, proceed to dialer and dial *#0*# and run ALL the tests available. This tests the hardware to make sure everything is working, the menus should be pretty self-explanatory and easy for u to understand..
6) check for any dead pixels under full Red/Green/Blue/White and Black background. For White it will be "receiver" for Black it will be "Vibration".
7) once done hardware check, exit and go back dialer and type *#06# to check the phone IMEI number, make sure it is the same as the STICKER which should come on the back of the phone.
8) next check the receipt, if it is indeed 2 years Samsung + 1 year senheng, the receipt date should show proof.
9) depending on your deal with the forummer, pre-order set comes with:
a) starter kit (wireless charger, TWO pieces of screen protector and phone case)
b) 5100 mah fast charge usb type-c powerbank
c) samsung protection plus.

if red tint PRESENT:
1) before doing steps 5-9 above, go to dialer and key *#15987# and set the Reddish to Level 1 (Reddish at -2 or -3) or Level 2 (Reddish at -4 or -6).

2) I suggest never set it to the last option Level 3 (Reddish at -6 or -9), cause that is too extreme and frankly if the device needs to be at level 3 (-6/-9) to hide the red-tint, its better off going to the bin.

3) I also suggest not touching the RGB sliders under Adaptive mode in Display settings to solve red-tint issue. As it may fuck the other colours balance up..
4) if adjusting the Reddish can solve the red-tint issue, then you are good to go to proceed steps 5-9 above.
5) if still reddish tint present, save yourself the trouble and kindly reject the forummer. Its COD after all, not CONFIRM buying. Thank the seller for his time, but kindly reject it. Its not the same as FFK-ing him.
6) make sure you are not rushed into closing the deal, take the necessary time do the necessary checks. The hype or excitement may get you to not check everything properly and I dont want you to regret anything later. As such, make sure you tell the seller you want to check everything properly so that he can allocate his time for your deal, and not be rushing for either party.

Good luck.

Thanks man this is a super detailed response! What are the chances of getting the red tint anyways? If I accept the deal can I just go to Samsung SC to get a new replacement? Or Samsung refused to exchange units with red tint?

My advice when using tg. Make sure it's aligned properly then it would be responsive and if somehow some part less sensitive just give a bit pressure massage on that part. The s8 screen is created in a way not to use hard tg. So it may take time before something good comes. The panzer glass imo is responsive and it cover the whole and left some gap between cases therefore might work on spigen series too. Bring along your case

Hi guys,

I be posting my S8 for sale later on.
It is a very beautiful phone and no red tint phone but too slim for my big hand to grip.
That is why I am still holding on to my Note 5.

Anyone keen, just pm me.
Thanks for this posting.

Red tint depends on luck. If the seller didnt mind u cancel the deal after the seal broken. Then just reject if got red tint issue. Not 100% the odd that SC will do the 1 to 1 exchange..

Bro if it's just too slim why not slap on a bulky case like UAG, Otterbox or Spigen Tough Armour? I had the Note 5 before as well and the S8 battery is just better although it's also 3000mAh.

It depends. I think one of the forumer here managed to get 1 to 1 exchange. But he choose for screen replacement bcause the color he want not available. U can ask for screen replacement if they refuse to ecchange for u.
