my company a lot of UiTM grads. They aren't particular bad.

Just that when u compare an overseas grad to them, u can see huge difference in the way they do their work and communicate.

I never had experience with UiTM worker before? Genuinely curious of their work ethic and core knowledge. We all know the people who go there are normally not accepted elsewhere

My story - went to a Klinik Kesihatan. Got one doctor from UiTM and another from UM. Both House Officer. Since overcrowded got two patient in one room so I have the benefit of watching another pt.

Case : One 60 yo pakcik complaining for pain in urethra after discharge 2 days ago witb urinary catherisation (tube insert in his penis with bags so no need to toilet) . The UiTM doctor talk for 30s before saying that it might be infection so just can go back home with some antibiotic.

Thankfully the young UM doctor overheard and stop her and say you can't just do that. He say it is cause by due to introduction of bacteria from urinary catheterisation. Need to remove the equipment, do urine test, check bacteria culture, give antibiotics and put under observation as got chance of kidney damage.

UM doctor probably just save that old pakcik life from kidney damage.

I know about the condition more after talking to my doctor friend who confirm the common side effect of the procedure, and don't know the reason why that uitm doctor anyhow want to leave pt without removing the causative equipment first.

TLDR - UM doc save the day after UITM doc make a mistake.
Everyone make mistake. What's your story?

It's a matter of whether you want to be efficient or effective.

Efficient - hit them with broad spectrum antibiotic. Wouldnt have kidney damage la if take antibiotic.

Effective - do the test and find out which bacteria. Some case maybe non bacteria, so no need antibiotic.

Got to weight the pros and cons of both. Antibiotic abuse is on the rise. And there are strains of antibiotic resistance bacteria.

How about the removal of catheter? Pakcik is outpatient after stay very long inpatient in hospital. I don't know about this but I check Internet on CAUTI that need to replace.

To enter UM as a medical student is freaking hard

they are one of the cream of the crops

anyway, base on my experience, my previous engineering firm boss say this

He wont take UiTM graduate unless they are First Class holder

The other engineering firm I worked in, damn... the boss regretted he hired the Second Upper UiTM graduate.

All grads make mistakes, not just UITM grads.

I have my fair share of horror stories from local and foreign grads from all unis.

Some of my worst were from UTP.  Out of 6 I hired, 5 were major disappointments.

In fact I never ever hire grads from UTP anymore.

what did the grads do?

The catheter should be removed as soon as the catheter is not needed anymore.
But in case long term catheterization is unavoidable (such as chronic urinary retention of any cause), then the catheter must be exchanged every 2 weeks (6 weeks if it is a silicone catheter)

I kind of agree with the UM grad.
You can always remove the catheter and observe whether there is any evidence of urinary retention.
But whether or not to give antibiotic, I'm not so convinced.
*
there are some instances where removing catheter could cause a lot of problem.

like recent surgery on the bladder etc.......
