same. i am using unifi for less than 1 month and it has been giving me problems every 12-24 hours. a reboot is required. problem is when after 12 hours some devices will not be able to connect to wifi but some can. those can if you disconnect the wifi and try join sure cannot already. a reboot is required.

i flashed the firmware to AU version but still same. i noticed the cpu is always super high like 90% on avg which is not good at all. tm already replaced it once for me and still same problem. going to ask them for a different model is possible like c5.

No wonder I was ask to sign in again! This usually happen at nite time right?

You can follow the simple tutorial on my blog to overcome your problem if you don't wish to upgrade your current router.

You can click here to direct you to a proper way (solution) to solve the problem with c1200. Thank you. biggrin.gif

By doing the step, my previous c1200 supplied by tm able to handle heavy downloading, torrents and devices more than 10. It only reboots once a week during 3 to 4am every wednesday.

yes put it back in the box and never open and use it. i just cannot believe that tp link would create such a lousy model and release it to the market. if you tell me a reboot is needed like 1 month that i can still accept. but this is like 12-24 hours sure to give you problem without fail, that i cannot accept. if i am the boss of tp link company i would be truly ashamed of my development team and would have gave them a "nice" talk how the hell they came out with such a lousy production unit model for sale!

Just gotten the Archer C1200 from TM, how do you check the uptime? I can't find such info anywhere rclxub.gif
And it's not a very good router as pointed out, hope TP-link release new firmware soon to improve it

Don't hold your breath. There is newer versions of the C1200 out already, and the problematic version is v1, so doesn't look like they will bother with v1.

QUOTE(Jjuggler @ Dec 26 2017, 08:07 PM)
I bought this.

You can turn off your router led by looking at your web admin interface of your router. As marked in the picture below. If you using Malaysian firmware (blue), you can click at the led icon to turn the led's off.

thanks for the tip. the wifi still sucks big time.. auto disconnects the devices. take out more money now sad.gif i need wifi. any router you would recommend? looking at asus i guess since i used one before and it was stable.

How about this two. similiar price range:

Not using the C1200. I just know there are newer versions out there, for sale anyway. You won't get the newer version from TM, that's for sure.

I would recommend you get the Asus RT-AC1300UHP, instead. See here for review: https://www.blacktubi.com/review/asus-rt-ac1300uhp/

If me, i wont mind about wireless. I will select a wired router because I very seldom use wireless. Only to open whatsapp or insta in iphone. My rog laptop always sleep and i open once in a week to update the software then close back. I rely fully on wired connection. Thanks to bro soonwai for suggesting me to get a Mikrotik router. So i purchase it and I satisfied with the performance. For the price of rm260, this can be compared with high end asus router. The good side of the router is, its small and cute and fit even at the compact place (not taking much space). To make my parents house to have wireless connection, i put TP=LINK TL-WR841N as an access point. It solves my problem.

As for the suggestion, i would recommend you to go for asus router (dual band). If you have the budget around 700 to 800, then you can purchase tplink c3150 (MU-MIMO) router.

Of you can purchase the mikrotik router for rm260 then use your stock unifi router as an access point to provide wireless signal for your devices. I did like that for my parents home network. I let mikrotik to be my main router, then i use cheap tplink router to be an access point. biggrin.gif

Happy New Year to all of the forumers here.

I am not using an Asus router. I am using the TP Link AC3150 v2. I would recommend it but I know that TP Link does not inspire much confidence in this thread lol.

However, if you want something powerful, do as bro Jjuggler say and get a Mikrotik router. I am planning to switch to something more powerful, maybe a Mikrotik myself, in the near future, when I upgrade my speed to 100Mbps.

Bro, if you want to depend on the stock router supplied by tm, then you will face some issues with your good time with internet. Nowadays, all router comes with wireless functionality. In the first place, i never thought of buying mikrotik router because i plan to buy an asus dual band router or a tplink c3150 (saving money), but after read some reviews on mikrotik product, and their routerOS, i must say, it is the BEST router i ever used so far. Just imagine, you get 256mb of ram instead of standard 128mb for the price of rm260. I bought this router as my main router because i using more wired connection than wireless. the only devices that uses wireless is 3 laptop (rarely used) and 4 smartphone (always use). So i get a cheap tplink router to broadcast the wireless signal. I've been using the mikrotik router for about 1 week, until now i haven't face a single problem like reboot or hang during torrenting. I highly recommend mikrotik routers for their hardware and their famous os, RouterOS. Or if you wish to use more common brands like tplink, then i would advice you to save some money and buy tplink c3150v2 as suggested by SilentVampire bro. That router has built in antivirus. rclxms.gif

After looking at the threads, I got a lot of choices now. Either I get
1. TPLINK C3150v2 - 256MB ram, dual core 1.4GHz
2. Asus AC68U - 256MB ram, dual core 1GHz
3. Asus AC87U Second Hand - 256MB ram, dual core 1GHz
4. Mikrotik router + Archer C1200 as access point - 256MB ram, dual core 800MHz

All around the same price except choice 4 where I get mikrotik router.
Which one should I get?

Most importantly I would like stability despite of what I throw at it

Not sure about the stability of C3150v2. Anyone have run it for at least a month and seen any restarts or any restarts required for good performance?

If you are just looking for something that works without much configuration, I would recommend the TP Link Archer C3150v2. I have been running it for about a month now, who restarts and no issues. It is one of the best routers for me, in terms of coverage, and its internal antivirus does a good job preventing spam, malware, and even intrusions to my CCTV. It just protects your entire network and devices.

The two Asus routers that you describe is also protected by the same antivirus company, Trend Micro, that is proctecting the TP Link C3150v2, and Asus routers are generally reliable. I would also recommend them, if you can get them cheap, but they are slightly older than the C3150 v2, and they can be pricier as well.

Mikrotik is another great brand if you are someone who likes to configure and do your own settings. I will be eventually changing to a Mikrotik router when I upgrade to 100Mbps in the near future. I don’t need it now yet, but have been learning and will be getting my own Mikrotik to explore in the next few weeks.

So, it is up to you, based on your own preferences.

no i mean when u use mikrotik and bridge the ac1200 for wifi. is the wifi more stable? does mikrotik router come with AC wifi? i looked at one but the antennas are 2.5dbi only. i think that means the range is not that good right? m still a noob in this. youre right. thats cheap. for me ill have 5-8 devices connected at the same time. actually i never had any problem with my n12hp when i was using 50mbps too. i tried google-ing but cant find a solid reason to use mikrotik. i know its customizable and they say u get enterprise setting at consumer price. but what are this settings if u dont mind sharing a bit?? with n12hp i was getting 50mbps and i didnt have any problems using torrents. always got the max speed. even got max speed torrenting on my macbook. thanks for your time and explanation bro

In terms of routing performance, the RB750Gr3 beats the Asus RT-AC5300 but loses to the Asus GT-AC5300. It's comparable to the Ubiquiti ERX, same CPU.

Stability is great. Here're a few uptimes from the routers I monitor, mostly Mikrotiks.

I know it's not for everyone but I prefer a good router plus a few lower-powered APs as opposed to a single powerful but pricey all-in-one. APs don't have to be Mikrotik. You can use whatever's lying around in the house or get a cheap RGX4400, DIR-850L or C1200 in garage sales.

Where did you get that routing performance comparison figure, esp for those Asus? RB750Gr3 is almost 2x the routing performance of Ubuiquiti ERX on most scenario, but you won't notice this as you will mostly have single direction data transfer. Both mikrotik & edgerouter had their own quirks & bugs, but I no longer recommend edgerouter judging from the lack of urgency attitude from ubiquiti in fixing their firmware bugs (erl-3 few years back & now er-x). Mikrotik had issues with IKEv2 VPN & ER-X had broken L2TP/IPSec when IPSec hw offload enabled.
