How to set the dualband 2.4 and 5g to get most efficient signal.? Is using one ssd name or different it..
*
Use a wifi analyzer to see the least congested channel for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz band and set your wifi channel there. You can use different names for the 2.4 and 5, and I recommend doing that, as the 5 have much lower range than 2.4, and not all device support the 5.

You means change the chanel that less ppl use will be better is it? Example: if 3 ppl using chanel 1, then change to other chanel that nobody use..
*
Yes. That's it. I would recommend Channel 1, 6, or 11, depending on your area, as they are the only channels that does not interfere with one another.

guys i just upgraded from 50 to 100mbps. the gave me the ac1200. but on wifi I'm getting shitty speeds downstairs. really shitty.macbook i get good speeds. but ip7 is like2-30mbps. not stable. router is upstairs. hows the wifi coverage for anyone who is using c1200 for a double storey house?

my last router was asus nt12hp. it was awesome.i tried using that again but for some reason I'm getting slightly lower speeds. not sure if its the router or just the connection in general.
*
Did you try using the 5GHz band? Don't bother using the Asus N12HP, as it does not support AC, and therefore could give you lower speeds. If you are using the 2.4GHz band, that could be the problem as 2.4GHz is very congested nowadays.

Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure I’m using 2.4 or 5. Chose the same names. But it should auto connect which ever is better right? Or should I off 2.4? But if I’m not mistaken 2.4 is range right? Coz I think I need it as router is on top floor at the back. And tv/Ps4 is downstairs at the front. I was using 2.4 on the Asus. Slight drop on speeds. When I was on 50mbps.

Sorry but what’s AC? Guess router that I bought is redundant now. 😭 maybe can use as repeater. Hmmm.
*
See bro warrior reply above. It is the same thing as what I would say to you. See here for further explanation on AC and other various wireless basics:

Just installed unifi30 with the c1200, noticed it quite unstable and suka suka fast suka suka slow or no signal... Alwiz unstable connection and felt it slower than my previous maxis 10mbps router. Aduhai
*
It could be wireless interference or congestion on your end, or particular settings on your router. If you still can’t get it working well, change to a better router. I would recommend the Tp-Link C7 v4, but not sure if you are willing to try TP-Link again, so I would recommend Asus as an alternative brand, as recommended by bro Jjuggler.

QUOTE(Ben Ling @ Dec 10 2017, 11:32 AM)
guys after I change to the Archer C1200  router provided by TM, I am not getting speed test result more than 80Mbps, on WiFi 5GHz , tried on many devices same result. Plus, Google Play Store download is delaying for 1-minute and I try to use mobile data it downloads instantly. Any solution ?
*
Again, it could be wireless interference or congestion on your end, or particular settings on your router. Last resort, change your router. I don’t know why AC1200 has so many problems, when their other routers are really good. You could try the Tp-Link C7 v4, or Asus routers as an alternative brand.

QUOTE(lyt25_1234 @ Dec 10 2017, 12:28 PM)
For me, I am getting 91Mbps on the Archer C1200 with 5Ghz WiFi.
I think must be some settings on your router.
*
That might be it, but there have been multiple complaints about the TP Link AC1200 for some reason.

QUOTE(llk @ Dec 10 2017, 12:43 PM)
My finding after using Tp link ac1750, overall signal is weaker (as compared with my old Asus N router), i'm going to buy homeplug in order to solve my bedroom coverage issue.
*
Homeplug is a good solution, if you are on the same wiring phase, but if not, it could be very inconsistent. I am quite surprised that the C7 v4 is not performing as expected. My C7 v2 that I used to have is very good, and its signal is quite strong as well.

QUOTE(Jjuggler @ Dec 10 2017, 12:52 PM)
I am an ex user of archer c7v2 (sold it already due to weak wireless signal for both bands) and c1200 (ditched it because whenever I download using idm, it delays 1 minute before download any files including images) and replaced with second hand asus rt-n56u router. That solves the problem. No need to wait for a minute to download. Even aus firmware cannot save c1200.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pros of C7

- no reboot issues
- not getting too hot
- able to handle 20 devices at a time

Cons of C7
- lame ui
- weak wireless signal especially 5ghz band
- buggy firmware

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pros of C1200
- good wireless signal (even better than c7 to be precise)

Cons of C1200- firmware issues (too many bugs)
- random reboot (although aus firmware does improve the boot up time)
- overheat issue

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But, in future,  I might avoid lower end tplink models.

Now i am a happy user of asus n56u.  biggrin.gif

The best part is, asus n56u still receives firmware upgrade although it has been 6 years the router was launched into the market.
*
True bro. I can’t really recommend the lower end Tp Link models now, as there have been many inconsistency issues. The least I could recommend for budget issues is the Archer C7 v4, and even then, I am hestitant to do so as I am worried about the performance. Asus is good in the sense that they keep updating their firmware, even for their older models, something Tp-Link should also do for their older models, as they seem to be more keen to releasing new versions of their routers than improve on an older model’s firmware.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Tp-Link products, and am a fan of them, but they need to step up and address some issues that people have with their routers.

There is new firmware for AC1750 V4 but i'm not keen to update as im worry it will be screw-up. And im checking TPlink Malaysia website it seem like V5 is on the way. In fact before i bought this router my friend has already recommend switch to homeplug, i'm quite regret did not listen to his advise. Btw the homeplug i'm going to buy is Tenda PH3, i will be buying from Taobao on 12.12, after did some research it is the cheaper gigabit homeplug with the price less than RM200. I never heard of this brand to be honest, but since the price is so cheap might just give it a try.
*
As I say before, homeplug is very inconsistent and it is not 100% reliable. If there is electrical noise, it will be affected. But, if it is as cheap as you say, it would be worth a try.

If you are not confident in updating the firmware, then don’t do it. It will be very hard to roll the firmware back if there are any problems.

*
Why do you want to monitor the uptime anyway? You mean the router is constantly rebooting by itself? Just be aware that if you are not paying for static IP, your IP will keep changing as you are under dynamic IP.

seems like DIR850L is way more better than C1200.

C1200 WiFi 5GHz not able to achieve more than 85Mbps but 850L does.
Also, it does not load up some certain website or app , but mobile data works perfectly and on previous 850L works too.
*
It might be so, but remember to check that the firmware for your DIR-850L is 2.09. If you are using a firmware version before that, you are open to security vulnerabilities.

but what really annoys me right now is the app problem. It just does not load. What causes that ?  I am talking about the OnePlus Community app, it does load on mobile data and on 850L but just won't load with C1200.

Plus, like I said previously, there is also a delay on Play Store downloading or updating.
*
Your guess is as good as mine. I don’t know what could cause that. I have used the DIR850L, Archer C7 V2, and am currently using the AC3150 V2, and never had any problems on Play Store downloading or updating, or even App Store for that matter.

I know la dynamic keep changing.means this router not stable lor..always restarting/reconnect..with dir 850L.. 30day without single reboot..nvm.ill log report to tm.i ask them to change other router..
*
Bro, you totally misunderstood my question. How often does the IP change? It could have nothing to do with the router, and more to do with your router’s lease time on TM’s side. If it changes few times a day, then yes, it could be the router’s fault. If it changes a few times a week, then it could be nothing wrong. It doesn’t mean a particular router is stable if the IP doesn’t change for 30 days, and vice versa. Did you check the system log on the AC1200?

TP link AC1200 is piece of shit ... end up i use back my old Asus RT-N12 .... still best router for my condo.... long loading time for TP link AC1200.....
*
Unfortunately, as I say earlier, I don’t know why the AC1200 is really bad. All I can say is that their lower end models seem to be suffering from firmware related issues.

QUOTE(JohnLai @ Dec 11 2017, 12:03 AM)
c1200 = upgrade to EU firmware 1.1.1 Build 20170706 rel.65715 (EU). Enable 5ghz beamforming at System Tools, System Parameters. That build fixes packet fragmentation/MTU issue which is the reason why some website can't load. As for 5Ghz, double check channel 80Mhz bandwidth and channel congestion. Yes, channel congestion can happen even at 5Ghz.
About that reboot issue....disable SPI firewall and problem solved. But you are left without firewall.....
*
Sad to hear that you have to employ drastic measure to do so. It could be a firmware related issue with the AC1200.

QUOTE(shamsay @ Dec 11 2017, 12:04 AM)
Today 3 times the wifi suddenly missing. As i remember the ip changed 2 times.is it normal.any other way to solve this issue..i just use this router 2 days only..
*
Bro, my bad. It seems to be the router’s fault then. Bad firmware would be my guess.

Thanks jjugler for the workaround.if i report to tm, do they have other router than tplink or dlink?
*
Unfortunately not. If I were you bro, I would use the D-Link first, then wait for the 12/12 sale on Lazada and get a decent router, Asus or a higher end TP Link model such as the C3150 v2, that I am currently using, and would definitely recommend.

Good to hear that. At least they will,be responsible for it. Just be aware that it is the 12/12 sale tomorrow. Routers will be discounted hopefully, so choose a good one if you have the budget.

hello, why every time i must choose the Malaysia-Unifi mode only? whenever i choose custom (to change port 1 as internet) network disconnected, cannot connect to internet. Currently using latest Australian firmware 1.1.1 Build 20170706 rel.65715 (EU)
*
Custom is possible, and if you want to change port 1 as internet, put the VLAN tagging to 500 for port 1, then you can connect to internet.

I did what u said. You’re right. But the signal is damn unstable. Will bt Asus nT12hp give me lower speed? Coz this router kinda suck la. Even though with 3 antennas.
Same her bro. Damn unstable.
*
It won’t give you lower speed, just that you can’t use AC. Just try using the ASUS N12HP again, and if you can get full speed at 2.4GHz, just change router.

QUOTE(putra_naz94 @ Dec 16 2017, 03:49 AM)
yeah i tried that but it won't allow my PPPoE to connect. until i go back and choose malaysia-unifi only it will connect after a few retry. i tried IGMP V3 also same.

one more thing, does this router not support the tp-link tether app?
*
Try ticking the ‘802.1Q’ box. This particular router does support the TP Link Tether app, but only for V1. Yours should be able to support the Tether app. See here: http://www.tp-link.com.my/tether_compatibility_list/

Is there any known problems with this router? Should I call them and maybe try to change a different router? Coz the old router I had from tm ,the orange and white one, changed it to Asus coz it was kicking users and it was unstable. Can only have certain amount of users. And this one the signal is quite bad downstairs. (Router upstairs)

AC is 2.4 and 5ghz right? So that’s the only difference right? From your experience can 5ghz reach from upstairs at the back to in front downstairs? Coz 5ghz gives good speed but when I’m upstairs it’s good. Maybe I can look for a new router that has better signal that is not too pricy.

Thanks for your feed back.
*
TP Link AC1200 has had a lot of complaints from forumers here, so if you can get a better router, it would be good to change to a more expensive TP Link router or an Asus one. I wouldn’t bother calling TM as they won’t change your router to a better one, unless you buy your own router.

AC is only 5GHz. 5GHz have faster speed and less interference but its signal strength and coverage is not that good as 2.4GHz, so no, it can’t reach from upstairs at the back to in front downstairs. Changing routers won’t help as 5GHz has very low coverage generally. See here for a more detailed explanation:

Which one would u recommend for me? Not too expensive though. 😅 if I change to the old Asus n12hp. The only difference is I won’t have 5ghz right? Other than that it’s all the same?

Just read on Asuss’ website n12hp is small home coverage. Lol.
*
If you want another ASUS router, I would recommend the ASUS RT-AC1300UHP.

See the review here:

https://www.blacktubi.com/review/asus-rt-ac1300uhp/

It is a bit pricey through, from RM500 - RM600.

If you want something cheaper, try the Asus-ART1200G+.

You can still have 5GHz for N, but not AC. See here:

Thanks for the suggestions!! But if I don’t mind with the using just 2.4ghz band. My nT12hp is good enough for 100mbps Unifi right?

I saw on blackutibi the tp link router they provide is quite price. Then why the performance suck. The connection is intermittent with WiFi. Should I just flash their router? I don’t use hype tv anyways. Will it help?
*
I don’t know if it will be good enough for 100Mbps as it depends on interference and congestion in your area. It might not though, so keep that in mind. The router they provide is not that pricey, to be honest, and it is one of their mid range models. There are more expensive routers out there. You can flash the router however you want, but you are on your own regarding that.
