Hi guys, just received my Maybank 2 Cards Platinum applied via RinggitPlus.

I will be frank and admit that i'm only interested with Amex for it comes with 5% cashback on weekends, even to pay for PTPTN!

So my question is, will it be alright if i dont activate the Visa credit card that comes with it? I already have a Visa from UOB One card and Mastercard from Citibank clear card, thus additional Visa will be no use to me. In that case, i was thinking not to activate the Maybank Visa Credit and just get rid of it.

What do you guys think? Thanks!

M2C came with pair of AMEX + Visa/Master, you have to activate both. You can just simpan the visa inside drawer because the AF is free

why u choose to apply for Maybank 2 Cards Platinum ? instead of say Hong Leong Wise Gold, or Public Bank, etc?

Thanks for the reply bro. Yea i guess i will do that.

Just been wondering though, what would happen if i dont. Maybank can't possible force for me to activate the other card. And i dont remember reading anything about not able to enjoy the privileges of Amex if we dont activate both cards. They only stated that we have to APPLY for both, not ACTIVATE both. haha just wondering.

Yea, spot on! And i think i gathered that info from one of your posts. Thank you very much for that!

I'm definitely not a financial expert, but my simple mathematical mind is telling me that with the 5% cashback, theoretically i'm getting an interest-free study loan? However, I just dont think this Amex privilege could last until im 60 years old. haha!

He's incorrect. You don't need to activate the Visa. I've never ever used my M2C visa.

Well Maybank remove the weekend 5% CB before and changed it to dining only. Who knows when they will change it in the future

guys, I realized that I cant seem to pay PTPTN with my AMEX through the portal as it kept saying Gateway gagal on weekends.

However, I was able to pay on weekdays but its pointless as I wont get the rebate if its on weekdays ohmy.gif. Do I call the CS or keep trying? Been having these for 2-3 months now

No issue for me too, I just paid last weekend and plan to pay a bit more to maximize my cash back.
Maybe your card is not activated for online transactions, please ask CS to turn it on.
