I haven't own any nintendo console in my life. Should I start with 3ds titles or just get a switch? Really wanted to try some pokemon games but never had a chance. I always though 3ds looks childish.
*
A new 2DS XL is relatively inexpensive.
It’ll be at least another year or 2 before pokemon is released on the switch. We are also not sure if the battle format will be greatly revamped.
If they do revamp it, then the last version with the original battle system will be on the 3DS/2DS.
The 2DS XL is a matured system, but this means you’ve 3 main Pokémon games in it. (ORAS XY SUMO). No waiting required.

The phat 2DS is childish as it’s aimed at kids. The 2DsXl and 3Ds is not anymore childish than the switch.

Can’t wait for Daemon X Machina to be released. Need my mecha/armored core fix.
Good thing it’s on a console I have haha.

From software kinda abandoned that IP I feel.

There shouldn't be a problem about sharing games. Lets say from a few consoles or buying used. They most likely could check if 100 peoppe are playing the same game cart id or something, plus the certification process. Won't effect genuine users. Pirates admits they don't pirate anyway if they get banned and etc. It's just a comedy show after that.

Plus Nintendo can detect hacked Switches as well. So that's another way they ban people. If you just buy and play normal won't ever have an issue.

Not sure what happened once banned. But it is most likely console banned like Sony console and etc. You can't ever play online with that console unless you buy a new one.
*
Nintendo can even brick your consoles if they want to. You can’t even play it offline.
Basically lock you out from the switch internal memory with a randomly generated password.
The fact they’re just banning the online component of the switch isn’t so bad.

I hope they don’t ban people based on CFW though.

Personally I would want a CFW, but I will not use it to pirate. Same thing like what I did to my 3DS as well.
What do I use it for ? Cheat codes for single player games. Not everyone got time to grind.

+1 for cheat codes. Miss those days.
*
Actually, currently switch is the only platform without an accessible save editor.

PC has tonnes.
PS4 has save wizard.
XBOX have vantage (recently discontinued.)

So yes, just waiting for switch. Not starting xenoblade till there’s one haha.

No need one tbh for Xenoblade. While it is a traditional JRPG. If you're concern about leveling there is no need to. Doing main story with side quest combo will cover that part.

The only end game grind is if you want all the blades and maxing their affinity which are just extra. Since each Blade has their own story altho just a little.
*
Yeah. I’m the kind who wants everything the game can offer with minimum grinding time.

Also, I’m a believer that the right cheats can enhance a gaming experience. Or at least one that suits me best.

~ only for single player games. I detest cheaters for PVP games. But I hardly ever play those games anyway.

does nintendo switch got anything similar to power save?
*
Closest would be amiibos.
But if you mean save editing.
Not at the moment.
Unless you jail break it and edit the hex value of your save file manually.

Thanks for the info....
but this save editing can apply any cheats?
*
Hex editing.
Which means it’s not tick and you get the cheats like game genie on the 3ds.
A lot of things needs to be done.

I’m waiting for cheats too. But don’t expect a user friendly version to be released anytime soon.

I asked for opinion, not sales pitch. doh.gif

I do know MX L2 is the worst of the lot with at least two terrible half baked 3D Megaman X.

Rest i am not sure.

Btw, who has bought Okami HD? Bought it last night and downloaded. Cant wait....tomorrow only can play...or maybe Friday if follow US time. doh.gif
*
I don’t like Okami HD.
Visually it is ok, but gameplay wise... it’s dated.

Anyone here jailbreak their Switch? Is it recommended to do so?
*
These day console makers are very strict regarding this.
Nintendo can
1. Ban your account. Which means you can no longer go online with this account or even play games you’ve legally purchased.
2. They can brick your console. So you can create a new account but you still can’t use that console.

So if you ever want to jailbreak it, you’ll need a second switch which you can’t use to go online ever and can’t be used to play the latest games. Which at this point, it makes no sense to do so.

Ban waves usually applies to ppl for jailbreak to pirate games.
I’m only looking to back up and edit my save files but even that seems to be pretty troublesome.

My joycons are facing some issues.
The left joycon doesn't show any sync lights but work perfectly fine.
The right joycon R button in single joycon mode isn't working. Because of that I can't use it in single joycon mode.

Time to:
1) send for warranty (if still available)
2) self repair
3) Buy new set
4) Buy Pro controller
I'm currently facing left joycon analog drifting issue =.= it keeps moving forward
*
This is the launch model.
So option 1 is out.

Might go for option 2.

I already own another set of joycons and procontroller.
Just that 4 player party games are a not possible to play now.
I’ll wait for the new switch refresh then.

Suggestion, get a Mayflash/8bitdo and use any controllers laying around the house. I recommend Mayflash because it has USB port for wired controllers as well. Using my old Xbox360 SF IV controllers to play SF 30th Annivessary!
*
Thanks.
But I kinda need joycons for Mario party.
I’ll try to get it fixed. Else I’ll just wait for the new switch.

Is now a good time to get Nintendo Switch?
*
Like what Rei mentioned, there has never been a better time to get one now. Especially when comparing to launch.
- a lot easier to get one
- price has dropped since launch
- a lot of new games
- they fixed some issues with the joycons.

However, if you’re willing to wait till the end of the year, Eg: games you want are only out at the end of the year. Then it make sense to wait.
There are quite a few quality of life issues with the current switch which I expect them to fix for the next iteration.
- flimsy kickstand
- fragile joycon
- compatibility with third party adapters
- a dock which won’t scratch your screen
- full Bluetooth headphone support
- more optimized battery life
And not to mention faster processor/graphics.

I saw the rumors about the new Nintendo, but even if they do announce it by the end of the year, we should be expecting the products in the market like in March 2020?
*
According to reports, should be out by the holiday season this year.

My switch is docked with power 99% of the time.
These days, the only time I remove my switch is so I can place it in another dock (diff room).

Got my switch on August 2017.
Till today it’s working well with the exception of joycon issues.

do you often buy games on the e shop? or do you buy cards?

also, have anyone played Pokken Dx? how good is it?
*
I nearly bought a wiiu years ago just coz of pokken.

I enjoy it quite a bit. Played it more than other fighting games I own this generation. Simple to pick up, not too hard to get better in it too.

Each pokemon style is also very varied. First time I played over a thousand matches with a single character/Decidueye in a fighting game.
Final boss was pretty fun too.

Playing it on a pro controller also makes it a lot more enjoyable.

Finally pulled the trigger on a switch lite. Went with a turquoise color switch.

Any good cases to recommend?
Might get a good microsd card later during the sales.

Don't mind me asking but what is the use of nintendo coins?

I've yet to get on the nintendo ecosystem. Scouting for good deal for switch v2
*
I use most of my Nintendo coins on dirt cheap multiplayer games. Great for party fun.
During sales, there are plenty of <1USD games.

Keep in mind that these coins have an expiry date.

The other way for me. My Pokémon sword was just shipped out and should reach tomorrow. My switch lite is only arriving next week.

Looks like I might have to bring around a heavier bag when I travel on Sunday.
