Hi. I just got my Switch yesterday!

Okay few things you need to know to buy a Switch here in Malaysia:

1. Warranty. There's two type of warranty that I know of for switch here in Malaysia. 1 is from Maxsoft. Maxsoft is the official distributor of all Nintendo across Asia. They provide 1 year warranty for your Switch just like mine. The other one is supplier warranty. Supplier warranty is usually when the supplier are selling Switch from other region (Japan, Australia etc.). From what I gather from my survey, supplier's warranty Switch provide you the international wall plug, not the Malaysia type wall plug (sorry don't know the actual term other than wall plug). You're going to need adapter if you got the international wall plug. Provided my bad experience with my PSP back in the days, Maxsoft warranty local unit it is.

2. Price. Price for a Switch here in Malaysia varies from RM 1.1k to RM 1.7k. Anything above RM 1.3k should give you free tempered glass (very important), free games or other accessories like pouch. Cheapest one you can get is from Otakuya from Shopee (supplier warranty).

3. Games. Nintendo eshop does not officially established here in Malaysia (unlike PS Store) but luckily, Switch does not Region lock. So you can set let say, set US region for your switch, buy games from eshop and play. You can also buy physical games (I assume when you say locally). Physical games are better for AAA games such as Zelda, Doom 3, Mario games, Pokemon as the price in eshop does not much different than physical (digital USD 59.99 vs physical RM 250). Physical of course you can sell back or trade with me! haha

4. Accessories. Do get a micro SD card. For me this is a must, at least the 64gb one. Switch come with native 32gb on board storage. I downloaded a few free games last night, half of my storage gone already. This does not include saves. I saw online somewhere the best micro SD card would be Samsung EVO plus. Other than that, maybe you ought to get a case (for travelling), USB to ethernet adapter (somehow switch does not detect 5ghz wifi, so expect 25mbp/s max download speed), and maybe case for your joy con. I mentioned above tempered glass is very important because there's a few cases when owner of Switch after their announce suffer scratches at their screen after they dock it.

Masters, please correct me if I'm wrong any where. I just owned a switch for like, 2 days. Do add more if I missed out anything. Cheers!

Switch does detect 5Ghz wifi but very picky on channel detecting.

You might wanna do some adjustment on your own wifi to make it Switch detectable.
Else keep on off your router , lol ..

Actually I haven't tried turning on and off my router. There's a guide on how to change channel to below 150 or something but it need my router admin access which I don't know idea how lol. A lot of work this switch. Lol

I'm a bit old school. I need to go to physical store to buy anything above 1k. Just kinda need that face to face buyer seller interaction. Luckily I found this seller, Geek Zone Gaming from shopee and lazada which sold me the switch the same price like in their online store. I got mine for RM 1250 with free tempered glass. Their store is at Tesco puchong (beside IOI) and another one in Setia Alam. Recommend you to whatsapp them beforehand though, to get the best deal

No worries man.

Awhh sorry about the no stock bro. Heavyarm is quite the popular place to buy. My first option actually, but money constraints lol.

My pouch haven't arrived yet. I bought my pouch from China as it is the cheapest. It's a hard shell case with a few slots for my games and SD card. It's an off brand so I'm not quite sure. It's cheap though, only RM 27.50. There's a lot in shopee and lazada. Just look for the highest rated one.

For SD card, you should get at least 64gb, Samsung Evo plus. Cost me about RM 38. Could be useful if you decide to download games from eshop.

One thing I really like about this Nintendo thread vs the one on Facebook....

no one asks "How come I cannot buy on this store?" for the 10000000000000th time lol
