...
my phone is to prioritize to up my productivity.

Phone Mostly use for:
1. gps for waze
2. 4G hotspot to download & upload big files
3. fb/whatsapp/wechat/twitter/emails/youtube
4. spotify when radio stations keep replaying same songs sad.gif
5. web browsing
6. occasionally games
7. take photos of item for work(not in dark enviroment)
8. NFC for future proof (alipay)
9. maybe learn making android app
10. don't want to waste money on phone every 2-3 years
11. dont care to be hipster with iphone x or note 8 (i love note 8 stylus/xiaomi quick ball features though)
12. one handed mode when needed as i have small hands

...

1) is future security update important or we can download those anti virus app to substitute?
2) should i wait for P3 and/or buy P2 then?

Once you are interested to go for Android apps development, Google Pixel or Xiaomi Mi A1 should be in the list... But of course, we can get any Android smartphone and bake AOSP ROMs to be as close as Pixel or Android One devices... I suggest to wait next year as many "affordable" Android One devices (less than RM1,500) will emerge in the market... Another benefit owning pure Android devices is the long term updates of the OS... But the battery capacity may hinder this intention after like 18 months ownership... Most probably need to change the stock battery for a fresh new one...

Security updates and patches is critical if there is a catastrophic effect to the device and data breached. Android Pay, mobile banking, smart home apparatus, and other security implementation will be at risk if no proper patches are done periodically... criminals are everywhere and thinking that we are not the prime Target is simply "ignorance".

P3 is still MIA... My hypothesis of 2-year cycle for the P-series remains true at this juncture...

If I were you, I'll hold on to whatever I have and wait next year for more Android One offerings ... Else, can always get the second hand P2 model at 50% - 75% cost of SRP and re-sell it back after one week investigation...

P2 rear camera is great if we mounted it on a tripod, meaning steady hands is crucial when taking daylight and low light pix/vix... Front cam is just average at best suited its price bracket...

If camera is not your top priority then P2 is an excellent choice.

That means iOS still rules for software updates support for older phone.

I can live without NFC coz it's still relatively new here.

One of the reason I want to change phone now is because my iPhone 5s will have no worth next year. Really don't want to spend so money on phone every 2-3 years and also keeping my older phones.

Thanks for your input. The mobile world has change so much. I'm still in '2013'

Just google and find out Modular phones are dead. Good idea but too high cost to produce it for now.
Rm499 for the battery pack? Might as well just buy powerbank, right.

I guess I'll go to Lenovo mobile store to test P2 before buying.

Thanks for your reply

No, the promotion was RM1,383 with modular battery pack + 2nd year warranty. Was quite worth it. Now RM1,220 with some casing and 2nd year warranty only. Brightstar Online at Lazada.

it's true that ios offers better software updates, it should be when you have to pay premium price for the device. same thing should be done for premium android models but sadly not the case. the good thing about android is you have options based on your budget.

Yea, P2 is a beautiful beast. Sold out in US telcos and selling at premium in amazon. What is a smartphone when the battery life sucks?
Will look forward for P3 smile.gif

And currently at the top of energy consumption stats....

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

If only Tim Cook realized that energy consumption is the no. 1 selling factor for the next iPhone "XS" , just sell it at USD1,500 and just take my cash....LOL...

THANKs for sharing. I rather add rm100 for new phone for peace of mind smile.gif

This is good also for P2 owner as the value is still high after a year. Not much depreciation

Yup... The depreciation rate is very low... Can still sell above RM800 at the moment... Thanks to the Super AMOLED and SRP which is still above RM1K all this while ...

Your next option could be Asus Zenfone 4 Max Pro...

Most MediaTek SoCs could not auto-focus when taking video... need to tap-to-focus...

My Lenovo Vibe Shot is having auto-focus issue when using the native camera apps. Open Camera solved the problem. Then again, the phone is aging fast in terms of performance and battery. Have to charge the phone 3 times per day now. Imagine that.

Did u guys experience lag on FB apps?
Facebook app is known for many issues: it drains battery fast like Homer Simpson in a all-you-can-eat buffet,
consumes a lot of data and hogs Storage. Facebook Lite is a good alternative without any bloated features.
Look for it on Google Play store. Or, just log into Facebook mobile site using the phone's web browser.

This badass came to mind.
It comes with a, get this, hot-swappable 6200 mAh Li-Ion battery pack for a smartphone.

Too bad there is no latest version on the market now.
