until DiGi set the FUP on the "unlimited plan" due to this abuse, maybe some people will reflect what should the did right on the first place.

wireless technology have limited of resource. it's shared network. not dedicated.

customer didn't have to understand on how the network work, but have some common sense on the usage. 500Gb in a week? what r u doing man...

6-7 years ago, in uk.. there was a company called giffgaff, offering $10gbp a month prepaid, for unlimited call/data/sms for 3G & Hsdpa connection without tethering.

i think it last until 2014 when they have to revised the offer to $10gbp for 1gb data only, because of data abuse.

it was sweet,until it last.

no company can offer all you can eat data,if the whole kampung, share just 1 paid connection.

There is nothing morraly wrong or what, everyone just pay for it to get unlimited usage without any worry on limitation~ however it's about how u manage the data, streaming in 20Mbps and download in 20Mbps are same considering using the same bandwidth, but I prefer streaming as it is unlimited and no need for me to buy another hardisk to watch it all over again as I could have stream another movie while the guy using 10TB hardisk still download while watch old movies~ just let him continue with his habit on high speed network and soon he realise this is only apply to low speed network such as Streamyx whereby u need to download during midnite to get more movie in ur hardisk~

u cant say morally wrong. if genuinely i have that much of user wans to use that bandwidth. if network clogged, how about digi stop accepting new applicants? just my 2 cents.

how about DiGi implementing a rule that "after >xxGB of data usage, your traffic priority will be shaped during network congestion"? Fair right?

But i can bet with you - those ppl that use 500GB will fucking complain it's unfair and misleading marketing on unlimited plans.

Ppl have to fucking realise that wireless is not fixed-line.

Technically, wired or wireless, there have a limited bandwidth for their backbone. For TM policy, they has the right to limit your speed up to 1/4 only. Unless you buy a leased line.
And i don't see any morally wrong or user error here. User pay the money, they spend what they want to do (unless it against the digi policy, and digi stated download in high volume is a wrong doing.)
And it is not user responsibility to control or protect the digi infrastructure, network or traffic, digi is the one who control it (that's why FUP kick in and prioritized the normal user traffic)

But when FUP implemented to curb abuse, then you see ppl complain like hell. Maxis Biz 68/99, Celcom Burung Hantu are good examples

Question for the morally conscious :

There's five (5) person living happily under the same roof.

1. Should just one person get on infinite 150 and share to the other four or should each one of them get their own infinite 150 ?

2. If all five persons have valid reasons for regular heavy downloads (FOSS/streaming/what-not) and all five persons insists on having their own infinite 150 and each does 1TB worths of data every month, does that mean they're morally wrong for already adhering to existing Digi's terms of use ?

3. Isn't it morally wrong for Digi to offer unlimited quota plans if their infrastructure is unable to cope in the first place ? So, why blame the users morality first and not the provider ?

The way I see it : If Digi says they're giving out infinite plans that means they are prepared for the data bandwidth onslaught, which incidentally reminds me of MagicSIM internet burung hantu by Celcom back then in June 2015. The quota was 2TB and the whole episode only lasted 6 months.

You know why fixed line & wireless broadband, but just only wireless was enforced the FUP until now?

The main reason is, the fixed line is fixed the location. The ISP already made the analysis, and control the sales of the plan. When it out of port, then it is the end.

But wireless, ISP cannot analysis the market precisely and force & control the user to use in the certain area only, and finally, Telco over sell the plan. For example, in an area like shopping mall, morning has 50-200k users in & out, but night only 500-1000 users. If you are the ISP, how to you assign the network? Or a resident area, morning has 200 peoples because all out of work, but night time there are 5000 peoples. This is most telco cannot control with.

And the another reason is, the network upgraded a lot but the backbone didn't. 10 years ago maxis can offer unlimited GPRS/EDGE. But today 4G is 1000x faster than it. But the fibre backbone only upgrade 4-5x. This is why many countries start to retrieve unlimited plan after 3.5G era.

High volume downloader definitely is the reason, but probably only 10% of it.

rm150 + rm9 = rm159
2 month advance payment rm300 + rm18 = rm318

Hi,

Im wondering,,

1) DIGI block all VPN connection?

2) I read somewhere in FB, someone said, DIGI does not allow any smart DNS. There will be no coonection if we to set Getflix Smart DNS/Unotelley,etc on the router if ppl

us router modem like (Huawei E5186)

or connect another wifi router to Huawei E5186 by LAN port (then set DNS on this secondary router),

or set DNS on the device such as phone/android box etc.
Any one can confirm?
Thanks in advance.
