You totally spoke my mind....  A year ago, I told the same thing to a friend of mine when I advised him not to get cheap China brand tyre for his car and he didn't listen to my advice and changed to the cheap China brand tyre which cost around rm250-rm300 each (for 17'). One fine day, as he driving downhill heading to an intersection, he tapped on the brakes to slow down the car.... not sure what happened but somehow the wheels locked up and the car skidded and ran into a ditch. The car was wreck but luckily, no one was hurt (btw, wife & kids were in the car). ==True story==

That's why I totally agreed with you... when it comes to tyres.... don't be stingy. Think of safety first.... especially for your love one inside your car.

Wheels locked up means the tire lost grip and skid, and that means the tire just did not have enough grip. People usually take tries for granted, they think it's all the same, just all black rubber donut! laugh.gif Countless times I see relatively expensive cars or cars using big rims but using cheapo shitty tires. doh.gif How come can afford to buy fancy cars or big rims but cannot afford to buy equally good tires??? Just cannot understand these type of mindset.

Yeah.. I know why the wheel locked up.... It was because of the brake pressure applied on the brake caliper is far greater than the grip between the tyre & the road surface hence wheel locked. And another thing is that they think their car with ABS would help them slow down the car in the event of emergency. In reality, ABS only work best when the tyre has grip. After that incident, my friend switched to AS2.... and now a different issue occurs. Now, his wife is blaming me for recommending that tyre to my friend because now he drives fast and whacking corners at high speed doh.gif

A lot of those people whom buys those luxury/big cars didn’t knows that as the bigger the car rim goes.... the more expensive the tyre is. Same goes for performance car... they need performance tyre and they cost a bom. So, they try to cheapskate about it when it comes to tyres. There's another thing that I wanted to point out is that some cars nowadays doesn't comes with spare tyres, hence they used RFT (Run Flat Tyre)... and those tyres are not cheap.

Hi to all

Want advice regarding my new problem. I just change 205 50 16 falken 914 to 205 45 17 maxxis ipro victra. As expected, noise is very significant n ride comfort reduce as expected.

What is the most comfortable, quietest n lowest rolling resistance tyre with good dry n wet grip for my next change.

Or do u have any suggestion to reduce my problem for time being. Im driving ford fiesta 2010.tq.

Just changed 4 pcs Continental CC6 for a Honda City TMO, sized 185/55R16, replacing the original CPC2. Price, was RM190 per pc excluding GST from Weng Heng Bukit Kemuning.
Slightly quieter and slightly more comfy overall, while grip is reasonable for the car. Rolling resistance seems better.
Still early to say as I only did an outstation drive for about 400km with it, but definitely much better than the CC5.

Well, first I didn't want to exceed RM200 per tyre, so XM2 was out.
Then I preferred quietness/comfort so Hankook V2 Concept 2 was out as it's a directional mid-range performance tyre.
In the end, I was planning to either go for Toyo NE03 or Dunlop D05, mainly for price and good reviews. Turanza ER300/370 seemed to be older model, and Ecopia EP200 I heard had low threadwear. Goodyear Excellence is also out as I don't think it's good or quiet.
Anyway, then a friend of mine recommended CC6, so I didn't need to decide between NE03 or D05, haha!
The price was good, and I trusted my friend's recommendations, so that was it.

Reviewed: Hankook Ventus2 Concept2 - Jan 2016 purchase

Got 215/45/R17 for RM1000 full set - incl alignment, balancing, installation at Eneos, Kepong. One free rotation, member card for free oil change, inspections etc included.

The tyres are noisy... Maybe its my Kia Forte 2.0 2010 suspension - its quite hard relatively, but road noise is there. I was driving quite underinflated unknowingly for a while, and when I pumped my tyres back to normal PSI the ride and road noise became even rougher. I suppose the tyres are built to last - very hard compound. No issues on grip, wet handling, etc. Besides that, they look good - stylish tyres. No use, but stylish.

For R17 tyres, for value, I think I'd give it a 3 star rating. To get good Continental,Michelin - as in not old stock, not dropship, not shady Klang dealer - it costs min RM350 per tyre.

I had a choice between Dunlop D01 same price, might have been better using those.

Whatever it is, nothing compares to Silverstone that came with the car - can get those below RM200 but *censored cos I don't wanna get sued* I was afraid after it was on for about 40k km. Had 2 bubbling, cracked, and one puncture. When I got it changed, all 4 tyres had cracks and potential bubble forming.

Quite good for the price of RM130. Comparable to Dunlop, better than Goodyear.
Now mileage over 10k km. Only some noise detected at higher speeds.

If you can get that cheap for PS3 I think there are a lot ppl change their rim to 16"... 205/50 R16 mostly cost more than RM400, should be around RM450... I do not think similar range RE003, T1R also nv less than RM400...

Is Michelin Pilot Sport 4 going to replace Pilot Sport 3?
Does it mean we will not get Pilot Sport series for 195/55R15 in the future? Because Pilot Sport 4 starts at 16 inches...

according to the post PS4 Max Performance category... and it is the same category as PS3...
I also do hope that it will not be replacing the PS3... damn.. want to change my tire soon...
hopefully it is still on the shelves when i change my donuts end of next month...

*** take note a lot of country also do not have 15" PS3...
but ASEAN as it... maybe it is for us only... and of course the manufacturing plant is just our neighbour...

Those prices seem on the high side for 185/55 R16. Anyway, I've mentioned my decision making process in my earlier post.
No matter how premium the tyre is, you just have to manage your expectations with regards to tyre noise because you will not get total silence or "quiet".
Just "reduced" noise.
