where to find legacy hornet. even jordan is not going to sell theirs yet until their new planes arrived and fully operational and that could be a good 5,6 years from now.

those hornets from usn stocks are taking even heavier beatings than ours due to metal fatigue associated with operating from an AC. prolly should ask for lease from Typhoon T1 since RAF and luftwaffe had them in storage and even australia is considering to retire their typhoon as well. or go to france and take their credit line offer

Soldiers patrolling S'wak-Kalimantan border tasked to help contain rabies outbreak

SAMARAHAN: Soldiers stationed along the Sarawak-Kalimantan border have been instructed to prevent stray dogs from the neighbouring country to enter the state.

First Malaysian Infantry Division commander Major-General Datuk Stephen Mundaw said the instruction was issued in the wake of rabies outbreak, which has claimed three young lives in the Serian district.

“We have instructed our men deployed at all entry and exit points to assist people from the State Veterinary Services Department to prevent stray dogs from crossing the border into our territory.

“We are also monitoring the jungle areas along the border as we fear that stray dogs from neighbouring country could be the host of the virus.

“We are doing everything that we can to help state authorities contain the virus,” he told reporters when met after the division’s 51st anniversary celebration at the Muara Tuang camp here today.

i believe it depends on the readiness/threat level.. military operating as security at public area shouldnt be armed with full combat load.. sentry/patrol is different from reaction/rapid deployment units..

Expensive and need to friend2 with US again for F18s.

The latest pricing details gives about $9b for 36 Rafale (India) or 28 Typhoon (Kuwait), but with a defence procurement budget of only $1b split 3 ways, this 1 deal is... 30 years' worth of the whole TUDM budget, forget about helis and MPAs. Its an impossible deal.

Face it, unless the country experiences another golden era, top tier multirole jets are a thing of the glorious past... unless our defence budget doubles overnight in absolute terms. How likely is that though...

Raytheon Anschütz submarine systems maneuver through acceptance tests

13. July 2017  Defense News

Navigation, steering and control technologies completed the Sea Acceptance Test onboard the newest submarine for the Indonesian Navy within a minimum of time.

user posted image
Raytheon Anschütz has delivered a customized, type S55 submarine steering stand, including the newly designed three-dimensional autopilot, as well as a battery monitoring system – to Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), who are constructing the newest submarine destined for use by the Indonesian Navy.

The new system’s autopilot features a robust controller that ensures safe steering and maneuverability, with speed, precision and minimal noise. As a software-based system, the autopilot can offer an extended functional range, including smart integration of the rudder steering system with electronic sea chart or situational awareness systems for waypoint steering and tactical maneuver planning.

Raytheon Anschütz’s Gerald Baden, who leads the submarine business area, states: “Our new 3D autopilot demonstrated its full steering accuracy and our customers have expressed their overall satisfaction with the robustness and performance of the integrated steering solution. This acceptance test for the Indonesian submarine was the third successful implementation of the new autopilot in an international submarine program.”

Systems performed as designed throughout the Sea Trials, and were supported onboard with engineering and customer service specialists from Raytheon Anschütz.

Hull 7712 is the first of three 209-class submarines for the Indonesian Navy. They feature a modified design and are being built at Daewoo’s Okpo shipyard in South Korea.

Australian Troops Amphibious Landing • Largest Since WWII

The land battle phase of Exercise Talisman Saber 2017 was launched on July 13, 2017, with the largest amphibious landing Australian troops have been involved in since WWII. Troops transported ashore from an amphibious readiness element including HMAS Canberra, HMAS Choules and HMNZS Canterbury. Airborne soldiers from the United States, Canada and Australia also parachuted into the Shoalwater Bay Training Area in Central Queensland from six Royal Australian Air Force and United States Air Force C-17 Globemaster aircraft that had started their journey in Alaska.

13 July, 2017 | SOURCE: FlightGlobal.com | BY: Greg Waldron | Singapore

The US State Department has approved a potential electronics upgarde for Canberra's fleet of 24 Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter aircraft.

The contractor for the deal is Harris Corporation, which would provide 32 MIDS JTRS tactical radio systems, and 39 AN/ALS-214A (V)4 countermeasures systems, says the Defense Security Cooperation Agency.

The value of the contract is $101 million. If concluded, the deal will be conducted under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) mechanism.

Providing Electronic Warfare suite for U.S. Special Operations Command C-130s

12 Jul 2017

SOCOM will upgrade the survivability equipment of its AC/MC-130J fleet with the capability to detect, identify, locate, deny, degrade, disrupt, and defeat various threats.

The U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) has selected BAE Systems to provide new electronic warfare (EW) systems for its fleet of AC/MC-130J aircraft. BAE Systems will upgrade the aircraft’s survivability equipment with the capability to detect, identify, locate, deny, degrade, disrupt, and defeat various threats that aircrews encounter in hostile and challenging environments.

This final selection follows a competition that included a system design phase and critical technology demonstration. The company received a $67 million contract modification to a competitively awarded contract. This new phase of the program is for the systems integration and installation of the EW systems — all to be conducted over the next 30 months. The contract’s total value, including all options, is expected to exceed $300 million.

Britain to spend $50 million on upgrading Typhoon jets' defenses

July 13, 2017 / 7:20 AM

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain will spend 40 million pounds ($52 million) on upgrading the anti-missile defense system of its Typhoon fighter jets, Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said on Thursday, after awarding a contract to Italian company Leonardo.

The work will improve Typhoon's Defensive Aids Sub System (DASS) supplied by Leonardo, and the government said it would help the aircraft in missions against Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

The contract will sustain 65 jobs in Leonardo's site in Luton, 30 miles north of London, and supports a further 41 jobs at BAE Systems in Warton, northwest England.

Boeing completes deliveries of F-15SG jets to Singapore

By: Mike Yeo, July 12, 2017

MELBOURNE, Australia — Boeing has completed the delivery of eight more F-15SG Eagle multirole fighter jets to Singapore, according to data from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA’s website showed that the last of eight F-15SGs on its civil register had its registration canceled in the middle of June, with export being listed the reason for cancellation and its destination listed as Singapore.

These eight F-15SGs on the FAA’s database were first registered in mid-2014 by Boeing. Deliveries of these aircraft began in early 2016, with the first aircraft seen in April at the Republic of Singapore Air Force's training detachment at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho.
