Thanks for your advice

Will Dothan be very different in terms of performance and other things from the normal one?

But they said that the Dell's speaker is nor very good. Unlike Toshiba and HP rite?

Another things is tat will tat be a big different between graphic card with 64MB and 128MB?
How about in terms of gaming? Will it be ok with 64MB? adequate enuf? Really bad tat Toshiba doesnt have 128 ATi. Dell good enuf?

how about these?
128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro (DELL 8600)
64MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
64MB Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 (TOSHIBA M30)

128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro (DELL 8600) - The best
64MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 - OK. Still manageable.
64MB Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 (TOSHIBA M30) - Not a very good choice for gaming/multimedia

I would say that 128MB is better choice. 64MB is quite adequate but now newer game will need 128MB.

About speaker, I don't think you should care about speaker because notebook speaker is not good no matter which brand you buy. However I did hear that 8600 speaker is quite good.

By the way, Dell 8600 comes with WSXGA+ screen which is very good for DVD (higher resolution). However, all icon and words will be smaller. But you can open 2 document at the same time.

At this time, Dell 8600 is the best price over performance (Dothan + 128MB 9600 + DVD Writer).

Some more, Dell fix your PC at your home/office. You can add 2 and 3 year warranty for just RM368 for peace of mind.

Conclusion, no notebook have such a gaming performance such as Dell 8600 and good services. Toshiba is too expensive for such a low specification.

Going overseas better get those brand with international warranty. I remember that 8600 Dell warranty is just Asia Pacific. You can call up Dell to be sure.

Actually make sure the place you go have the service center or else you need to go far far away to RMA your notebook if you're really unlucky.

Branded notebook normally will give international warranty.

OEM means the manufacturer make notebook for Toshiba. So the notebook is actually not Toshiba brand. That's why only local warranty. You're right. It is a clone.

Of course Toshiba more stylish than Dell.

How much different between Pentium-M (Dothan) at 745 (1.8) with Pentium-M (Dothan) at 755 (2.0)?
worth for going to 2.0 (add. RM700+)?
how about in terms of performance?
What is the meaning of 745 and 755?

Yeah, i asked already. Is just Asia Pasific....

The 3 years international warranty is RM600+.

My parents said that it wont go wrong in 1 year so no need to add the international warranty.. sad.gif and said was quite expensive

So what you think??? Is that a MUST? cos if anything goes wrong will doh.gif

add:

Did a lot of people's laptop goes wrong within 1 year? 3 years?
worth to upgrade it?

FYI, for Acer notebook also, 3 years international warranty is RM598. So Dell RM600 is quite ok.

I think you can substitute your 2GHz upgrade with warranty upgrade. I don't think you want to trouble yourself while studying overseas. What happen if it spoilt?

Also, you can tell Dell to downgrade your DVD RW to Combo drive (-RM655) and ask the Dell to upgrade your warranty instead. DVDRW is not useful for a student I think/

Dell's warranty covers only asia pacific, if anybody wanna use it elsewhere, you have to contact Dell first. Called them last time to ask about this, I think one have to fill up a form or something like that for the "conversion", hope it's still the same now.. Anyway, you still have to pay for the shipment fee even with the warranty on.
