Hi all, just got a job offer and will be hopefully moving to SG.

Does anyone have a typical timeline of what to expect moving forward, from approval, moving, etc?

As I'm pending my work pass application and also notice period, how early do you start searching for homes?

Congrats,
you on EP or SP/WP?

EP card after u landed and thumbprinted takes about a month to arrive at your co.
Singpass also a few weeks

Moment the IPA confirmed then you can hunt lor. Carousell, FB. Beware rental scam. Better have someone local do the paynow (so there is paper trail) as cash can be denied; then u pay your friend la.

Everything you need is here https://va.ecitizen.gov.sg/cfp/customerpage...?Category=48674

Of coz, there will be champion like me who "forgot" to submit but in the 10mins walk to the arrival gate I submitted ok je brows.gif try to submit it before flying so no need to worry.

Thanks! I assume it's EP, and on the work pass application status stated Employment Pass.

Yep will take note of any rental scams, thankfully have friends whom are SG locals so will probably get their help to do the transfer.

Any other tips I should be aware of?

Speaking of moving, my EP is already approved and should be moving after CNY. Anyone has any reliable contacts for moving stuffs?

I'm not moving any furniture, mostly higher value appliances like vacuum, air purifiers, kitchen appliances, etc. Those cheaper ones costing under RM300 probably i'll just buy them new when i'm there...

Can you quantify your "stuffs"
If just moving internally within SG gogox or lalamove starts from about $30 to book a trip.
Vacuum just buy one off carousell ~60 bucks BNIB for wired Hitachi.
If its just you coming over I don't think you need to import everything in.

I'll be moving to SG from KL with my family of 3 + 1 dog. I'll probably be bringing about 10 rather big appliances. And since i might be moving these items, probably just add along our other personal belongings in 2-3 boxes. Don't need a lorry, but probably a van since i don't think there are commercial movers using normal cars/SUVs.

I can get my family members to drive in with those items, but that would be my last resort as I do not want to trouble anyone

would you choose australia over singapore? ive cleared a few rounds of interviews and was about to receive a job offer in singapore but my recruiter told me to consider working in australia instead cos they can no longer hire in SG.

i don't mind to relocate but is it easy to get a work permit? assuming the same package but taxes is much higher in AU and without 17% employer contribution in EPF/CPF right? As such I'm getting much lesser than SG?

about which city.. this is where it's nuts. this is a 100% remote role so where i stay don't matter. i feel sg or au is a trivial -- maybe this is a soft rejection. anyway no final offer made yet but i'm just weighing the pros and cons.

Since 100% remote, work in Malaysia, receive salary in AUD, pay double tax, spend AUD net income in Malaysia... I wonder will this work hmm.gif especially the net savings

If you’re single, SG is a good platform. Married with or plan to have children, Australia is preferred.

I'm more concerned about the take home pay. Now I pay 10-20% tax in SG and could this balloon to 50% in AU? I'd also be losing 17% employer CPF contribution. Cost of living should be on par. I won't be bringing my family for the first year or so.

I did not probe further as to why has to be based in AU cos I think they'll offer flexibility if they really want me. AU on the other hand seems attractive to me cos I've never been.

Thanks. It seems that my enquiries can be clarified with the recruiter. I think I'll just have to do that.

Hi,

Anyone drove a malaysia registered car to Singapore before? Is it worth the hassle to apply for the documentations etc? Im planning for drive in and stay there for a about 10 days. Kinda reluctant to take flight cuz I have big bulky items like wedding gown and other stuff where keeping in car is safer and more convenient.

Been driving for more than 10 years. No big deal, just make sure you have enough $$ in AUTOPASS to cover the expenses
