Did not expect to change job so fast, got headhunted by a company which offer around 40% more than my current salary and much better benefit. Job scope wise slightly similar but the new company have more focus job scope rather than wider job scope currently.

Hi all, newcomer here!

Fresh graduate about to start my first ever job in a few weeks.  biggrin.gif

Currently in KL but got an offer from a company in Singapore and will be moving there soon and rent a room. (Anyone needing a roommate please do tell me!)

Slowly googling the ins-and-outs of Malaysians living in Singapore and what to expect. Would appreciate any good tips/links/articles/experience from anyone here. Especially for fresh grads about to enter the working world in Singapore!  icon_question.gif

P/S: Big thanks to topic starter! Thread is A+ and very informative! thumbup.gif

Guys , need your advise I'm new to this. Recently I have apply an internal position within my company. It's an mnc o&g company. I have more than 13 years experience in global projects persuit.
HR already told me I be getting this position and next week is just formality interview with MD which I already working with him for long.
Soon will be salary negotiation from HR side. Currently I'm earning basic around MYR 15k basic. For case like this what are the reasonable offer would be in SGD? This is prepare me to negotiation with HR soon.
I plan to drive my Malaysia car and will go back to KL every week end. The affect on my side will not be too much as I need to travel in Asia region frequently. Whether fly from changi or klia will be fine. Expected just stay 2 weeks in singapore and 2 weeks overseas and will fly in / out via klia.
*
my rule of thumb is 75% to 80%. aka sgd12k.

well...im already married.......at least i'm getting better security(walking out at night not an issue...but can you honestly say that in malaysia?), robbery in broad day light, thief....etc etc
my spouse already converted to SGrean
*
good move. if u decide to be here, please just convert.
infant care costing me 2k sgd.
immunisation and doctor checkup recently sgd200
giving birth costs abt 8k sgd (thankfully simple, otherwise emergency c section another 4k).

if u singaporean, at least after subsidy only 1.3k.
singaporean baby can go polyclinic i think alnost free for immunisation.

getting a confinement lady from jb recently cost me abt sgd3.5k (theres a 200 bucks levy, application fee for her nanny permit, and sum rule abt angpaos etc)

singapore is safe for u physically, but i hope u make alot of money so that u can withstand the very real financial pressures.

my friend recently, after working 5 years here as a professional (earning abt 8k pm now) finally got the downpayment to buy a 700k condo. (400+ sq ft). if married and both PR or citizen can buy hdb can easily save a big chunk of that.

i can forsee in the future malaysia will be exporting maids..just like vietnam/indon....unless the gov/political landscape changes......as a Chinese/Indian/Mix or etc etc...considered "2nd class citizen" in Malaysia....you know what I mean..I don't really wanna go into details.

It's an obvious brain drain...and now with cut of education sponsorship...

Baby so expensive in SG  cry.gif . We are considering to move back to MY because of the kids. Not sure why MY parents prefer SG education, we both study here and don't like the system here. Too competitive and stressful. Path of success is destined at a very young age. Colleague kid 3 years old can recite time table already. My eldest kid still don't know what is 1 2 3.

Fiona-jie u sure onot? Move back means sacrificing your GCB and X5 leh!

shocking.gif  shocking.gif  2k for infant care!! why don just get a maid? thats really alot of money, more than half of my salary
*
havent heard of horror stories of maids feeding baby poop, urine, or dunno how cause baby to be strangled ah? maids are not educated or trained to handle infants, and my tiny place have no place to accommodate a maid. 500sqft not enough.

want maid means have to incur additional rent to get a space for them. somemore have to monitor them, feed them, givs them free time etc. and infant care allows babies to socialise with other babies, expose to some germs, and pick up some learning and playtime in a dedicated environment.

how reliable is it to rely on bus for daily commute to work ? what is the frequency like ?

won't be far, probably around 2-3km.
*
very good. i wished malaysia has a bus system half as good.

(occasionally some bus services suffer from long 20 to 30 minutes wait time, but overall buss is good)

Hey guys I need some advice!

I currently have a degree in accounting and is thinking of looking for a account executive job in Singapore MNC. Actually, I wanted to look for audit jobs in small firm in SG first cause those big firms would only hire a Malaysian with experience. But seems like the small firms are not interested as well.

I'm now caught between applying for a audit job in midtier firm in Malaysia or accounts executive jobs in MNC in SG.
Can anybody give me some advice?

the answer is, any job u can get.

Happy childhood  rclxms.gif . Always make noise to go back grandparents' place play with cousins every week. When leave on Sunday will cry one  console.gif . Actually we decided to go back to Malaysia soon because we prefer life there for the kids. Not so much stress. As long as they don't become useless 3rd gen and throw all the money away will be sufficient to excel already.

your kids not singaporean meh? how to go back?
