Calculation and table of estimated prices can be found at this link: https://goo.gl/cpYiBN

If calculating 7/1 to 13/1 cycle (Thursday to Wednesday - weekends are using Friday prices), the actual retail price for RON95 & RON97 should be RM1.89 and RM2.19 respectively (±1 sen).

If we follow the Automatic Pricing Mechanism and Sales Tax Act, the government is allowed to "tax" us higher by 60sen per litre for petrol products sold.

For the past few weeks, the government applied a hidden tax of approximately 5 sen. Thus, I estimate that RON95 and RON97 would increase by 10 sen from last week to RM1.94 and RM2.24 respectively (±1 sen).

No more 5c hidden tax probably. Same as floating price for ron95-1.89 and ron97-2.19

This is good news - i thought the 5c hidden tax would be permanent as they are hemorrhaging money. Let’s see how it would be moving forward

Calculation and table of estimated prices can be found at this link: https://goo.gl/cpYiBN

If calculating 14/1 to 20/1 cycle (Thursday to Wednesday - weekends are using Friday prices), the actual retail price for RON95 & RON97 should be RM1.89 and RM2.19 respectively (±1 sen).

If we follow the Automatic Pricing Mechanism and Sales Tax Act, the government is allowed to "tax" us higher by 60sen per litre for petrol products sold.

Over the past few weeks, the government applied a hidden tax of approximately 5 sen, however last week, they removed the hidden tax. Thus, I estimate that RON95 and RON97 would remain the same as last week at RM1.89 and RM2.19 respectively (±1 sen). If the price goes up by more than 1 sen, it would mean that the hidden tax is applied again.

If calculating 28/1 to 3/2 cycle (Thursday to Wednesday - weekends are using Friday prices), the actual retail price for RON95 & RON97 should be RM1.92 and RM2.22 respectively (±1 sen).

If we follow the Automatic Pricing Mechanism and Sales Tax Act, the government is allowed to "tax" us higher by 60sen per litre for petrol products sold.

A reminder to everyone reading here to fill up this week or next week. Looking at the AIP graph today, seems like the fuel price will shoot up quite significantly next week.

Finance Ministry: RON95 petrol capped at RM2.05, diesel at RM2.15

QUOTE
PETALING JAYA: The price for RON95 petrol and diesel has been capped at RM2.05 and RM2.15 per litre respectively, following the rise of global crude oil prices, says Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Aziz.

Zafrul said the newly announced price cap for RON95 and diesel is lower compared to the price cap implemented by the previous Pakatan Harapan government in 2019, which is RM2.08 for RON95 and RM2.18 for diesel.

"The government will cover the difference between the actual market price and the weekly retail price that is set weekly through the subsidy allocation," he said.

Zafrul said the government decided to introduce the cap because the actual market price for petroleum has been rising, along with the demand for crude oil, which is fuelled by the reopening of various economic sectors in the world.

"The global oil price is also influenced by the Covid-19 vaccination plan that is beginning to gradually take off around the world.

"Malaysia itself will start its national immunisation programme at the end of February," he said.

Zafrul assured that the government is committed to reduce the cost of living and it will always monitor the effects of changes in global crude oil prices.

"We will also take appropriate measures to balance government subsidies and the need to maintain the welfare and well-being of the people," he added.
