Own the car almost one month now. Premium CVT. At first the FC was real bad, i thought i was gonna regret it.
First time i put RM30 (13.05L) fuel inside when the fuel up icon was blinking. Managed to go 140Km, roughly 30-40% city, rest is highway. So FC is 10.72km/L.. Bad..

Second time improved a bit. Same RM30 after fuel up icon blink. Managed to go 160km. Gives me 12.26km/L.

Most recently, I pump RM40 (17.39L) after icon blink. Managed to drive almost 275km before blink again. So roughly 15.81km/L.

Quite suprised with the last FC, though I might be wrong coz there might be error in the way i calculated it.
*
Usually each fuel up we fill it full(for my case stop fueling at first trip of nozzle) and reset trip meter, then till next fuel up use the total KM shown in that particular trip and divide how many litre of fuel pumped and proceed reset trip meter for next calculation. This way will get more accurate reading.

Am currently below 4k mileage, ya, it did improved from 280km full tank to 370km, however I would say it's mostly contributed by my driving style from normal acceleration to "snail pace" to keep the ECO indicator lit from 30km/hr onwards.

Most of my routes are normal flat routes, rarely have steep hills, so I think the routes equation might be ruled out.

Does your Manual Variants have different FC between one cars and another?
If it doesn't, than most probably they had installed a bad Torque Converter in mine (since Auto had it as one of the variables) and worst case is bad QC Transmission/Gear/Engine. My Torque Converter will have high pitch (like jet engine turbine) sound audible at dashboard when audio/AC is not masking it, volumes increase/decrease based on my RPM.....feels like I am driving an airplane or turbo Engine... icon_rolleyes.gif ...the only thing is that it doesn't fly! whistling.gif

By the way, my first service at Alpha Auto Service and Parts Sdn Bhd @ Bukit Serdang was quiet dissapointed, gave me the old 10W-40 with higher price and charged me with additional screenwash and petrol treatment, and told me to back to service after 5000KM, yet when I told them about my fuel comsumption and other problems like jerking at low speed.....the Chinese female boss just "TaiChi" all the problems back to the customer saying it's my driving problem, instead of troubleshooting the problems for me!! doh.gif .... (Any good SC to intro me for my 2nd Service @10K)?
*
For any problem solving or complicated inspection better send to Proton Edar service center instead of Wakil... I submitted my list of complains and they attended all the stuffs I complained with feedback, at least they tested every single thing I complained instead of blaming me and say the car is like this is like that, if no problem they will state the car is tested for that particular complaint and no issue was found.

Proton has been getting terrible rating for after sales service mostly thanks to these Wakil who know nuts about Proton and do nothing when it comes to complaints, what worse they keep adding unnecessary stuff in to the package to earn more from you.
The CVT in Persona is Clutch type, even this they also don't know, I doubt why they still entitle the "Wakil" title. doh.gif

You are the first one with the highest technological problem  mega_shok.gif
Most probably it's wiring and/or ECU unit problem?

I used to have Reverse problems like you too, but now already gone after 1000km, forward low gear jerking doesn't jerked all the time now, and my latest fuel comsumption
0-1000KM = 14hrs @32.6L @280KM = 8.59KM/L
2000-3000KM = 16:55hrs @34.78L @377.1KM = 10.84KM/L
@4000KM odometer 14:57hrs 34.87L 422KM =12km/L
My first time reaching 400+KM in 1 full tank!... but don't so happy just yet because drive time less 2 hrs whistling.gif

Not bad.. keep going as mine was pretty obvious too if you look at my Fuelly, the graph is hiking up thumbup.gif

At your desired information page on the meter panel, long press the "info" button on the wiper stick to reset. I always did that after each fuel up

Hey guys, i'm planning to get a persona std manual. Just want to know how's the car reliability? Will it have many major problems and high maintenance cost?
*
My MT so far so good, no big issue, just some minor rattling, stop lamp switch, aircond odor that has been solved and now left with wind noise.

FC is 14-15km/l 70% city 30% highway... not involved in jam, just traffic lights.

MT will be cheaper to maintain when changing gear oil compared to CVT, reliability MT win too.

Since the Persona still new, couldn't tell about the reliability compared to other car, but since most parts is from Iriz, most I see from their thread is stop switch lamp malfunction only.

QUOTE(ekudz @ Mar 23 2017, 07:31 PM)
Hi ..

Yesterday sent my car for 2nd service at Mutiara SC .. using the FREE SERVICE from proton promotion (free oil and filter only) << this not mention before buy ..

Okay .. before i list things that i facing with my persona .. ive taken the car back but not tested yet ..

My mileage already hit 9k++ .. 1st 1k service late because SC fully booked and mileage exceed 1k almost 2k ..
this is some issue with my Persona ..

1) USB socket 12v faulty

2) USB port intermittent charging

3) power window front passenger side slow when want to roll up

4) rattling sound from backseat whenever there's passenger seating behind

5) door closing metal sound .. this issue been highlighted on 1st service .. ask them to change the rubber but dont know they change or not.

6) coolant reserved cap loose << this no sparepart .. so then KIV this 1st

7) rattling sound when low speed / climbing hill << usually i recognized this as a distributor loose sound .. usually need to adjust it and gets better but SC said the rattling is from the dashboard and the fixed it.

8) semput when up hill and low pickup << when 1st get this car no problem .. after reaching 5k only start having this.. but will try the CVT method 1st .. http://service.punchpowertrain.com/product...il1e/id/79.html

Previous issue .. SC Mutiara scratched my skirting and the promised will touch up but due to no time and i need to use the car until now not send for paint job .. they want to keep the car for 2 days for a little touch up scratch but ..

when i sent the car to SC i noticed something .. the petrol cover (metal) on the side got minor scratch .. at 1st i thought maybe my fault when i fuel petrol maybe i accidently scratch that part with nozzle .. but when look closely it is imposiible because the scratch is from inside .. when SC checked it is because the metal cover when open sometimes touches the body.. the said will re-adjust it and i complain again then how about this scratches .. the Mutiara SC Supervisor inform me when i want to sent the car for skirting touch up they will fix that also ..

Conclusion .. most of the issue is minor issue that can be solve max 1 hour but due to SC maybe lack of staff they cant and request for 1 day ..
This is my personal experienced with Proton Persona 2017 ..
*
That's one hella long list of issues you face with SC... by the way how's your FC? The new owner here many complaint about high FC for CVT

Hi. I am user of saga vvt manual. I have your issue number 3. Is the sound you're experiencing something like this?

I have made appointment with Proton CoSE regarding this issue. I am disheartened to hear that they replaced your knock sensor (how long did they take to replace it?) and still your problem persists as I fear the same would happen to my saga  cry.gif  . I have considered trying ron97 but now with your statement seems like ron97 does not solve the case.

But I am still hoping that this rattling issue is due to exhaust manifold/shield that is loose or having leak. As there was once when I am cruising at moderate highways speeds, there is a boom-my exhaust note being heard that can possibly indicate an exhaust leak.

Kindly refer this video where a fellow youtuber experiencing similar rattle noise but got it fixed by tightening his exhaust shield.

I am really determined to solve this issue, as this is a freaking new car!  vmad.gif  My mums saga aeroback has this issue after 12 years! And this within 2 months or so.  cry.gif
*
Talking about this Pinging sound, last time I thought is my illusion or Radio... the sound was very light... but today I try again during uphill, the pinging sound doesn't appear hmm.gif

For your mum Saga Aeroback, the pinging can be solved be retarding the distributors... can ask those experienced foreman to help. Its just loosen up the screw at the distributor and turn it I think towards the engine? If unsure better let the foreman do it sweat.gif

My mum saga aeroback pinging is solved and yes due to distributor.

But this new persona/saga vvt does not have a distributor so the problem is somewhere else. I have a strong gut feeling it's the exhaust system as when my engine is cold, performance is super snappy and no pinging whatsoever. Response is amazing.

But when temp gets hot/operating temperature, car feels dragged. And pinging occurs more often.
Also regarding you changing the stop lamp switch. May I know where you did it and whom I can refer too?

Another issue I'm facing is that when air con compressor kicks in. You can really feel it's load on the engine by cutting 500rpm. I'm in gear 3 and I can still feels it's drag.
*
The stop lamp switch I change last year, actually I just told him the engine underpower and sometimes clutch already cannot crank engine, then so ngam all these issue is caused by the stop lamp switch...

About air con kick in, when idling you turn on air cond u can see RPM drop about 300, but when driving, I can feel a very slight pull back less than half second and the car rev it back to where it was before. Try this on 1st gear its more obvious to tell.

The heavy compressor is where we thank them for lesser sweat in hot day unlike my Myvi thumbup.gif

because SC we cant afford to wait and speak with the pomen .. will test my car tomorrow either the problem solve or not ..
SC inform not because of the distributor but rattling inside the dashboard ..

I don't think our campro vvt engine is utilizing distributors anymore as it is fuel injected. Distributors is for those carbureted engines.

I may be wrong though.
*
Actually the pinging noise for old car is not distributor problem... its the timing not properly tuned..

Ya, modern car not using distributor anymore

what timing bro .. so i can tell SC .. penat la ulang alik hahaha!
*
What I mean is old car foreman can tune the engine timing from the distributors, but modern cars like ours don't have such thing... so don't know what are the issues here...

To explain to the SC you can just tell the sounds is like old car like Iswara engine timing is not properly tuned, so when you apply more gas especially going up hill the pinging sound will appear.

Very well balance and honest review we have here...
Heck.. your FC even beat mine... my furthest stretch by far just around 490km summore a MT

The rattling sound I'm same with you, Rattling at dashboard gone, then there comes another 2 sound... however mine is from HU while another sound like grek grek grek grek sounds like from backseat... anyone had this weird sound from back seat? on and off occasionally on uneven road hmm.gif

And another one... I realize when I switch off Air Recirculation, the vent totally have no wind coming out... not sure what they did inside when fixing the rattling sound ranting.gif

I researched online and results show that this can cause sufficient damage to the engine! Could this be where my engine knock/pinging coming from!? hmm.gif

My car's mileage is around 2.3k now and my fc improves significantly as mileage grows. I came back from ipoh during last sunday and it was insane. Highway jammed until trolak but i took the old road from ipoh to tanjung malim and merged onto the highway afterwards. I maintained my speed at around 120kmh for the whole journey (max is 160kmh) and potong a few lorries on the old road with full throttle (it was very dark and scary as f). After reaching KL i kept on driving until my fuel indicator lit and i managed 500km full tank. Quite impressed with the FC on highway. Mine is a persona cvt premium.  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

Niceee

I also have FC report here for 9k mileage Persona MT

Today I travelled to Tampin with Highway at speed around 140km/h to 150km/h, heavy and spirited driving.
Return trip use old trunk road with some traffic through seremban to nilai and back to KL

Went to fuel up hoping I can get a 12km/l, end up my calculation gave me a 13.6km/l which is pretty impressive!

Last time before 1k km mileage I tried similar road with similar driving style too, but that one return trip also using highway get me only 12.8km/l
But that one with 4 person in car, this round is 2.

The compressor proton used in saga/persona is too strong. As a manual user I can  really feel the jerk when the compressor activates. As long as you're below 2.5k rpm when that thing turns on, it's like your car braked for a split second. shocking.gif

Best experience driving my car is in the cold hours in the morning with air cond off. Oh my God, the performance is soooooooooo gooooooddddd. Pickup thumbup.gif

In the afternoon though.. sad.gif

QUOTE(Lez Pall @ Mar 27 2017, 10:22 PM)
So the key to reduce jerking and slow acceleration is to keep the aircon off at all times and only use it to cool the car down when not moving. Hmmm...fascinating

Might want to invest in a portable fan tho......😁
*
Not sure which is more fascinating...
Aircond compressor that's too small to generate enough power to cool off the cabin during hot day
Or
Powerful Aircond that can cool off the cabin during hot day but will lose a bit of power while air cond kick in

I prefer the 2nd choice thou... the old days in Myvi especially traffic is slow below 40km/h, you'll feel dizzy due to the heat

Hi everyone. I just received my persona premium last week. However, so far i found 2 issues with the car :

1. Radio fluctuates. Some say to turn off RDS but i couldn't find the RDS function on the radio settings.
2. While i was driving, sometimes there will be a random beep sound.

Does anyone know what does the random beep sound meant? Thanks.

Don't think those u said are sufficient to cool the cabin... I read somewhere that car aircond is about 15hp above, our house aircond only like 1hp, 1.5hp, 2hp, 2.5hp or those ceiling type 4 ways is just 4hp only... u probably won't get enough power to cool the cabin... better be thankful this compressor is strong enough to cool off the cabin instead of some car aircond that built with weak cooling power... if you think its too strong, you always have the option to turn down the temperature settling so the compressor kick in lesser thumbsup.gif

For the complaint I suggest spam their email, facebook or whatever social media that u can get them to flex.gif
