Yeah, no need to buy expensive one. Even the cheapo Zidoo H6 Pro beats MiniX Neo U9-H+.

It will be good if we can get first hand experience on the usage of these boxes from real users. The Zidoo has 802.11ac capable wifi.

IMO, get the MiBox then. More compatible with your needs. Just make sure to double confirm that the iptv service you plan to use is supported on it.
It's been done and the Zidoo has color issues, problematic Kodi and can't passthrough DTS HD-MA upwards.. Definitely not a Neo U9-H crusher.  smile.gif

I bought the X92 3GB+16GB variant via Shopee. Received on Sept 19th after 10 days paid and waited from overseas.

Verdict: wife loves it due to its simplicity to access her kdrama lol.. i love it for the price/spec/design.. not a heavy 4k movie addict, but 1080p movie time with family and occasional gaming with my kids is good enough.

If you're wondering where I refer to these boxes for reviews, it has always been by Chigz Tech Reviews via youtube. He has a numerous collection of tv box reviews WITH BENCHMARKS and COMPARISON LIST (at the end of every video reviews).

On top of everything you mention I am also interested to know :-

1. Is it pre-rooted ?
2. Is there a proven TWRP for it ?Found it on the net. Yes, there is a proven TWRP for X92.
3. Is Astro Go runnable on it ?

Anybody has tried unrooting his pre-rooted tv box ?

Does it cause any serious problem such as unable to boot ?

I have access to TWRP now, so I am thinking to unroot my box to try test out some picky apps. If it does not work out, I can install root back.

Without prior documentation.. It's hard to simply unroot a device.. Same as obtaining root privileges for the first time, requires specific knowledge and skills. If the device isn't popular in the dev community...? Sorry.

The SuperSu app has a full unroot function is somewhere in the setting. I will just invoke it. I am not sure the Rom will automatically reinstall the root back into the system.

Hi,

I'm using hypp tv box EC6108V8 (rooted & have playstore). However, the apps unable to work smoothly such as Astro on the go & YouTube and it's not remote friendly, require to use mouse.

Want to purchase a reliable tvbox for my parents and at the same time using Astro on the go (as my accounts able to view all channels) preferably with remote control.

Any recommendation? Hibox or minix? Or any better reliable box.
Thank you
*
You can't fix the problem of TV/remote friendliness by changing the tv box. The remote friendliness comes from the app. So no matter which box you use, Astro Go is not going to be TV friendly. It is designed for phone/tablet.

For youtube, google has wriiten a TV friendly version of youtube. You can't install it from tv box visiting play store. Google expects certain build property which most tv boxes aren't set to match correctly. So you can't find it from play store if you visit using tv box.

But you can search for the apk and install it. It will be able to run and is very tv remote friendly.

Ya I sideload the YouTube app and AOTG.
But not very smooth maybe using hypp tv box.
Anyone recommended box?
*
My tv box a considered a low end one. It's an amlogic s905x 2G/16GB. I have no issue with smoothness.

I don't recommend people using this box because it has terrible super low wifi quality. Need to use my handphone to provide wifi repeating. Drain my phone battery.

After some good read from that 4pda forum I decided to flash again my box but this time with Ugoos m3 firmware. They have a very good discussions and recommendation of this box being paired with Ugoos m3 fw.
Here's one comprehensive and detail review of Mini m8s Pro...i found the link somewhere from the thread.

Now I got all three Njoi Now, Astro Go and Hypptv everywhere working hahaha.
Good and clean firmware from Ugoos I might say. No driver problem this time and as praised by some in that 4pda thread, this fw is considered the best-match for mini m8s's hardware.
And from my experience, it's like straight drop-in replacement though.

The most welcomed feature of the fw is "Ugoos hw settings" where you can enable in-built hardware monitor like CPU Temp and network activity. So now I have 2 less apps to install huhuhu.

I was actually planning to flash the previous minix fw with magisk in my effort to try my luck with hypptv everywhere and now it's working on this Ugoos....very nice indeed!!!

...only thing is hypptv only works on WiFi. Once switched to ethernet, the circle keep on spinning. But I don't mind that since the box just sit next to router all the time.

Thanks to that Yuri guy by the way...I can now have some good rest for awhile...
*
Just curious. How are you able to match the mini m8s hardware with the Ugoos m3 fw ?

Is it mentioned in the 4pda website that this firmware works for mini m8s ?

My experience is that most boxes are very very vague, most of the time, within one model of box, there could be a few different circuit boards. So you match it by opening the box itself ?

No lah, I didn't do that matching stuff. It was forummer Botak_WAI who provided the link to that Russian page.
It's actually their Mini m8s pro discussion thread. You can see their list of ported FW to fit on this box.

I only interested in trying Minix U9H and Ugoos since from the info, all other fw are pre-rooted.
They even claimed the hardware similarities between mini m8s and Beelink GT1/Ultimate or Alfawise S92.
So I guess those with mentioned boxes may have luck trying.

Try take sometime reading their discussion...a lot more info for you there perhaps  brows.gif .
Just bear with the english though since you'll be reading on google-translated pages  sweat.gif
*
The thing is that sometimes within the same brand same model, they have different boards and require different ROMs. I guess you are fortunate to have mini m8s where there is only one variant out from the model.

So the one you used and got it working is an Android 7 ROM ?

Hi, anyone heard of BM8 tv box? Specs looks good at 2/32 with S905X. Price is ok as well.

https://www.lazada.com.my/bm8-android-tv-bo...m-92549079.html

I just want a box to for videos and live streaming through APKs. Kodi not so important and no need 4K cause don't have 4k TV.

I'm also considering the X96 Mini Android S905W set as well, seems quite cheap :-

https://www.lazada.com.my/x96-mini-android-...s-95816193.html

Your valuable advise is appreciated.

Most of the entry level boxes can meet the purpose of non 4k streaming or local playback requirement. I have limited exposure to different brands but I encountered one which has terrible wifi quality. So I tend to think most boxes have bad wifi quality. If if you intent to use the wifi, better find one which is proven. Many online streaming apps are auto negotiate. Bad wifi will give you poor picture quality.

Are those file store in hdd easily accessible through other device? What i mean is something like a NAS

Many tv boxes are androids. So you share out the files using whatever file sharing methods available for android, such as DLNA, ftp, samba etc.

In comparison with a same spec of another box (Mini MXiii II) bought for a friend sometime end last year who just called me again as the box crashed for dunno 6th or 7th time within a span of 1 year which requires Wipe Data/Factory Reset, this is by far much better personally

Hard to say. Could be due to different apps installed and usage difference.

If you read the posts in this thread, there is a post about overseas seller selling X92 for about rm201.xx for the 3GB unit. Not sure can be trusted.

I like X92 because it has an external wifi antenna.

Plan to buy my dad an Android box within RM200 and below budget. My dad wants to watch youtube on TV and the box will tether to his handphone for internet connection. Any model or suggestion to look at?
*
That's a simple requirement. Just buy any S905X or S912 box within your budget with 2GB/16GB will do.

Lower end also works but <200 already can get the config I mentioned.

I supposed the handphone will not be too far away from the tv box, maybe <10 feet away. So wifi quality requirement also pretty low.

Since youtube normally autonegotiate for video resolution, in this set up, it is important to get quality 4G/wifi speed on the phone. Else, you will get low quality picture.

Thank bro for the suggestion. Is this box ok? Its really within my budget. Or is there any specific brand to choose from? Since dad will be using it, box should be less problem, i mean in term of stability using youtube app.
*
Not a big fan of 1GB/8GB tv boxes. Still prefer a 2G/16GB box. Furthermore <RM200 can still make it.
