QUOTE(dwRK @ Mar 6 2017, 05:33 PM) Usually the player or TV "should" down mix properly...unless they are really old...chances are high the guy screws up the encoding... If it's a 2.0, new AVR won't help... 2.0 videos... can. don't let AVR do it stereo, set it to PLII cinema or DTS Neo 6!

QUOTE(voncrane @ Mar 6 2017, 05:42 PM) I watch a lot of mixed content thru Kodi and yet to encounter such.. Audio is always routed via HDMI-ARC to a 5.1 HT setup. Within the HT's settings, DB levels of each individual speakers can be adjusted and since the front-center speakers almost always carries the main dialogue, that is set slightly higher than the rest.. Distance to sitting position dependent. Ya...dunno if he has a 5.1 setup...he said "certain videos"...usually after calibration you just use master volume...why would the dialog stream so weak... I seldom encounter this problem anymore even on my 2.1 setup...

The price.. scary ler... way out of budget...

Just get the Minix Neo U1 with the Neo A2 airmouse.. or the newer A3 remote if you can get your hands on it. It's a device that's been out for awhile, battle tested and cheaper than ever. Has 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, Android 5.1, can be rooted/unrooted at will and has a solid firmware with OTA updates. Lots of real world reviews on it, including mine.. It's my current device and I can answer any specific concerns you have about it.
