Ok guys can you recommend me an android TV based on my criteria below.
Some Background:- My living room now contains astro decoder, mitv3s with ahem iptv, Dune(legacy from the olden days before the android tv era), hypptv tvbox. These are connected to the internet either by wifi or homeplug. I also have a soundbar connected to my dune through optical.
Dune:- To play downloaded HD HQ from my NAS. Bought this long long time ago.
Astro:- Usual Satelite TV decoder. Watch Astro
MITV:- bought together with ahem iptv preloaded.
HYpptv tv box:- Comes together with Unifi for free.
As you can see there are TOO MANY devices and TOO MANY remotes to handle. I can't stand the clutter and the ratnest and the number of power plug, power cord, lan cable, HDMI cable. I can't use my soundbar because there's just too many wires.
What I want is a device that can replace all of the above device into 1. I plan to sell everything else, cancel ASTRO and just focus on 1 device. Because of that I don't mind paying more for a good quality tvbox.
Can't use apple tv as I can't use it to play my downloaded stuff and ahem iptv support is lacking.
Can you guys recommend me an android TV that can do the following(lets assume budget is
not a concern first):-
1.)Able to install all legit iptv:- Netflix, Iflix, Amazon TV? etc.2.)Able to install ahem iptv without all those rooting and all. For Astro and paid iptv.3.)Able to play all my HD content in NAS. My old Dune is Excellent in this regards. Could play 99.9% of all the downloaded stuff with no hiccups.
This is my expectation on the new Android TV.
3.)Have Wifi AC connection( My Asus router 5GHz band is underutilised) Reduce wire clutter
4.) Proper Dolby 5.1 decoding?(Is it necessary? if my soundbar is able to decode it?) 5.)Optical out(SPDIF) Important to connect to my soundbar 6.) Voice Recognition on remote/ Keyboard on remote? What I notice when using MITV is typing in youtube is pain in the ass
7.) Good Support and fan base for the android TV. "Easier to find help and support"8.)Stable software and few bugs. I come from using apple iphone/ios/ipad so I think my expectation on this is higher.
My mi 3s you tube app would crash once in a while searching , and irritates me so much because i was using the remote to type.
9.)Smooth experience Again coming from iphone/ipad kind of polished os background.10.)VPN supportJust in case I need it for netflix, hulu and all11.) OPTIONAL:-4K support for future one more thing ability to cast from iphone/ipad if available.
my suggestion go for Nvidia Shield. might support 90% of your needs
