Did anyone encounter that your hamster put bedding into sand bath place? I'm not sure why but early this morning found out he put the bedding into sand bath there. He got a hideout and a 'home' , just curious whether he will sleep in there as there is the place where he pee and poo most of the time

Usually it's not encouraged to place the sand bath in their cage. Because they will wee wee there (which is good for us owners) but not good for their health. So the sand bath should be used everyday or every few days by putting it into the cage for about 20mins for them to "bath" in there and then take it out from the cage.

From my experience and research on why your hammy suddenly put bedding in its sand bath...
1. Maybe just a change of his behaviour that he starts to sleep in a different "house".
2. If it's a female and it starts to build nest, maybe it's pregnant.
3. Check if he has diarrhea because they will stick to their poo poo and wee wee place if they are not feeling well.
4. Check his usual hideout and see if there is any changes that makes him wanna move to a new place.

When we got Beauty (our female Syrian Hamster), we did not realize she was pregnant at that time. Few weeks later, she gave birth to 5 babies. We cannot keep all because we do not have enough cages to house them all as they are solitary. So, with a heavy heart, I have to let them go.
