I recommended you to go for pet lover centre or pet wonderland. at least their staff very knowledgeable and able to advise us how to care for our pet.

As for equipment, sometime I found pet wonderland cheaper if compare with other. Even the 1U's Petsmore is the same situation as you describe, sometime feel sorry for those little.. cry.gif

Btw, Tesco Ampang are having 80L Bin for RM49.90. For those who plan for a bigger Bin Cage for your hamster

What is 80L Bin? We are using Detolf from IKEA ^.^

Anyone can recommend some good hamster mix here? Been looking for the best food for my Dwarves and Syrians.

Also, anyone know where to get cheaper wheel for Syrian Hamsters? I saw one in Pet Lovers Centre which is RM70++. @_@

Sadly I don't have space for 160cm wide sweat.gif
Most if wanted to, I'll use 2 Billy extension and make a double decker for them (wide around 80cm+). Price roughly the higher then Detolf glass shelve (rm179) if I remember correctly, Billy extension rm70 (white) + glass (rm30) * 2 = rm200.

The one you looking at is it wodent wheel? They should have cheaper one which is comfort wheel price around 40-50 for syrian if I rmb correctly, try ask their staff instead.

Re hamster mix, both dwarves and Syrians have different requirements so you cannot use one mix for all, IMHO. Dwarves are more prone to diabetes so any mix with fruit or that is heavy in sugar is a big no-no while Syrians are pretty much okay with the regular stuff. I use Versele Laga Hamster Complete Nature (mix) and add Versele Laga Hamster Complete (pellets) for Jasper (he's a Syrian). You can refer to this list of good and bad options. When in doubt, please refer to nutrition listing & percentage:

- Protein 17-19% unless you have growing pups or pregnant hammies
- Fat 4-7% (not a problem as most mixes OD on this)
- Fibre 6-15% (you can top up with fresh veg)

Hamsters also need raw food, eg veg, fruit, meat (cooked pls) every 1-2 days. I feed Jasper fresh carrots, bok choy, apples, capsicum, pea sprouts, cucumber, zucchini and boiled chicken (those cat food packs/cans are good too)/cheese every alternate day depending on what's in the fridge.

This list tells you what fresh foods are safe for both dwarves and Syrians.

(Yes, I did my research.) laugh.gif

Re wheel, you need a minimum of 8" or 21cm for the wheel. You can get those wooden ones for RM60 (mine is RM59 plus and is 23cm). Try looking online - some sellers sell 21cm wheels for RM30.

My Jasper baru jeh let me pat him but only while he's eating. Distracted. LOL. Will come to the edge and look for me when he sees me so it's a good sign.

If I get, I'll get from breeder - I think they would be tamer, etc.

Haiya, I dunno la. I tidur on it dulu. brows.gif

Thank you for your guide on the hamster food and wheel, appreciate that ^.^

Yeah, be very careful if you're planning to get hamsters from pet shops.

I am having a hard time taming the two adult Syrians that I got from Petsmore >.<

But I got another Dwarf from Pet Lovers Centre the other day. I held it in my hand in the pet shop and it stayed steadily on my palm. So I bought it ^.^ Maybe you can try doing the same.

Just sharing, here are some pictures of my Hamily =D
